chapter XXI
The Task of PandoraSumin was only trying to get closer to Suho to possibly gather him as an ally for their task, but she didn't expect holding his hand to be part of her initial task.
She didn't know why she did it; she just instinctively did it in the spur of moment. Once she held his hand, Sumin started to panic inside her mind and was actually a bit scared that this would offend him and pull his hand away, which would ruin the relationship they had already built.
But surprisingly, Suho held her hand back and all she could think of was how cold his hand felt, and how lean his fingers were.
Whenever Suho started to sweat profusely and got paler, Sumin would immediately squeeze his hand and call his name when it became worse. She felt quite guilty for making him be honest, even though it had been her first intention. She tried to look like she wanted to help him so he would probably open up, but she never expected it to be this bad.
Not only her curiosity was fulfilled, but their relationship had also developed, which was a great step for her task. Although, Sumin wouldn't admit that having his hand around hers just felt quite right.
When the bell chimed again for their next lesson: History, Sumin immediately released his hand, much to her slight dismay. "Class is starting again. Let's go back before the rest starts to question us for not being at the Halloust."
Suho's hand which was on top of the table was slowly balled into a fist, before he stood up and nodded. "Yeah, you're right."
The walk to their next lesson turned quite awkward, which was not Sumin had expected. She would expect Suho to start a conversation, but he seemed to be busy with his own thoughts. He didn't even look straight, but he looked downwards and his eyes seemed a little empty.
Sumin distracted herself instead by looking down on her small piece of paper which included their schedule. History would be on Class 2-C on the Second Floor.
Once they arrived, Sumin was quite surprised that most of their Classmates had already been there. Kyungsoo waved sheepishly at her, while Chanyeol waved his arm with excitement the moment his eyes landed on her. Even Sehun, Baekhyun, and Jeanne were there, looking all healthy as if they had never been in a fight a few hours ago. Baekhyun was listening to Chanyeol's chatters, while Jeanne was talking with the timid Xu Lifen, the Illusionist. Sumin sent a longer gaze on Sehun, whom seemed to be staring outside the window beside him.
When Jeanne noticed Sumin's presence, the taller girl immediately waved her hand and sent a cheery smile, which Sumin ignored as usual. She didn't miss the small pout Jeanne had, though.
However, Sumin noticed Kai's small suspicious frown as she walked to the seat in front of him. Suho decided to sit beside Yifan, and they immediately conversed as if they had been close friends the moment Suho sat down.
Sumin's gaze on Suho was stopped when she felt a tap on her shoulder, and Kai leaned over with a scowl, "What were you doing with him?"
"Just doing our task," Sumin answered nonchalantly, glancing over at Luhan whom seemed to have the similar frown.
Kai didn't seem to be able to retort with her reason, so he only pursed his lips and leaned back, which Sumin inwardly thought was quite adorable.
"What about you? Who's your target?" Sumin asked quietly, quirking her eyebrow up.
Kai moved his gaze to the left, and then discreetly pointed his forefinger to someone else. "That one, Zhang Yixing. But as of now, he has been a pain in the ."
Sumin hummed in surprise. She would never assume someone as naive-looking as Yixing to be a 'pain in the '. "Why, though?"
"He is quite a lunatic, if I must say. I might change my target if he keeps this up," Kai said, then changed his gaze back on her. "But really, where have you been with that Charm Speak guy? You didn't even eat anything for lunch today."
"We were at the library searching for something about his Second Energy Core," Sumin replied, as she noticed from the corner of her eyes that their History Professor had finally entered.
Their History Professor was a middle-aged woman, with bushy and curly blonde hair that reached down her waist. She had a orange bandana and a long necklace with colourful beads around her neck. She had a dark green dress that reached to her feet, almost reaching the floor, with black flat shoes to complete it.
Sumin would be lying if she said she wasn't surprised at all about this woman's appearance. She actually expected for a more sophisticated person when it came to History.
"Hello Reomirs and welcome to your first lesson of the beautiful and majestic History!" she said shrilly, spreading her long arms with a grin. "My name is Jessica Hilda, which you can call me by Professor Hilda. I will be teaching you History until your final year in Silverio Academy.
"Many people don't have the same thought as I do, as that History is particularly fascinating and just downright beautiful," Professor Hilda said dreamily, clasping her hands in front of her chin. Sumin noticed Professor Hilda had long nails that were painted in blue, and she wondered whether Professor Hilda could claw someone's eyes out with it.
"Everything always has a History, and even all of you!" Professor Hilda exclaimed excitedly, as she walked forward to Kyungsoo's table at the front. "So, tell me, Terrakinesis boy, what do you think of History?"
Kyungsoo looked taken aback that the question was directed at him, or because Professor Hilda just said his ability when Kyungsoo had never told her. "I ㅡ I don't know, Professor. I'm quite fascinated about it, sometimes."
