Who are you, really?

Ji Wook knew Bong Hee would ask the question sooner or later but it still didn’t fail to make him nervous. He was actually sweating despite the air conditioned room and his heart was beating like crazy.

This was it. The moment of truth.

It was either he was gonna loose her or keep her. Either way, it was time to let her know. Bong Hee deserves that much.

“Before we met…...I was known with different names, different identities. Healer….K2...others…” he swallowed his nerves and found himself fidgeting. “I did so many things for money, for security and for revenge. I also lost a lot.” he looks at her in the eye. “I even lost myself.”

Bong Hee had a confused look, but she listened attentively, trying to understand him the best that she can. Every time he revealed something he considered as repulsive, he couldn’t bear to look at her reaction. He finally laid his past as an open book, every secret, every death, every corrupt things he got himself into. The nightmares and the torture. As if pandora’s box was opened and there was no stopping the vomit of words that came out of his mouth. It was all or nothing now.

 It took a long while and by the time he finished, she was crying. He was too.

Ji Wook could only look down in shame, his tears pooling in his blanket. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I-I didn’t know how. I didn’t want to loose you.” his words were broken and sad and he was terrified to even look at her. This was the only time he said so much in his lifetime.

Bong Hee stood from her seat and positioned herself in front of him in bed, cupping his cheek and willing him to look at her. He was still avoiding her gaze. “Look at me.”

Ji Wook braced himself with a deep breath and finally locks eyes with her.

“Thank you.”

His eyes widen in surprise, not quite understanding if he should be worried about her response or not.

“Thank you for finally telling me. All this time, I’ve been so confused and hurt. I just wanted to know you and to fully understand you but you kept pushing me away.” Bong Hee continues. “Your past may have been like that, but it has shaped the Ji Wook that I know now. The warm, supportive, and amazing Prosecutor No Ji Wook that I know. And I won’t ever judge you or leave you because of that.”

Ji Wook felt like a huge burden was lifted from his shoulders and he cried harder. He was lost for words and his heart was so full that it felt like it would burst at any second.

“I love you No Ji Wook.” Bong Hee gives him the most beautiful smile he’s ever seen and hugs him tight. “Please don’t hide from me anymore.”

He couldn’t remember the last time he had cried this hard but being in her arms and laying his whole self bare to her was so satisfying and he knew his tears were a mix of happiness and relief. Why had he been so stupid and scared to tell her before? He should’ve known that Bong Hee would stay. She was the epitome of love and she had shown that to him a lot of times before. He had been blind.

“I love you so much Bong Hee.” he hugs her tighter despite being in pain.

I love you.

Something about this situation wasn’t really quite right for Mr. Bang. He’s never seen the prosecutor so……..weak before.

“Ah---ouch.” Ji Wook grimaces as he reaches out for a glass of water.

Bong Hee hurriedly went to the bedside table and pours him a glass. “Prosecutor-nim, you should’ve told me you wanted water. I’ll get it for you.” she pouts as she hands it to him.

“I didn’t want to bother you, you looked busy.” he gestures to the stack of papers she left at the mini sofa.

“That can wait.”

“You didn’t have to stay here you know, I don’t want you to get tired.”

Bong Hee sits beside his bed and gives him a smile. “I’m not tired at all! I like being here.”

He nods and grimaced in pain again, making Bong Hee fuss over him. He assures her he’s okay and looks away to take a sip of water but Mr. Bang clearly saw a hint of smile on his lips before they both made eye contact and Ji Wook cleared his throat awkwardly after being caught by him.

What a dramatic man. Mr. Bang shakes his head in amusement.

He was clearly not needed here anymore and made a move to get out of the room when an older woman suddenly barged in crying.

“My poor son!! Are you okay?!?” she rushes towards Ji Wook and Bong Hee quickly stood up to make room for her to sit. “Your stupid dad didn’t tell me immediately that you were hurt! Someday i’m seriously gonna hit him in the head!”

Ji Wook chuckles. “I’m okay mom, don’t kill dad and make me face against you at the court.” he tries to playfully calm her down when he noticed how tensed Bong Hee was standing behind her.

“Uhm mom. I haven’t introduced you two yet.” he gestures towards Bong Hee. “This is Bong Hee.”

Bok Ja turns towards her with knitted eyebrows. She stared at the now healing bruises on her face and the scared expression Bong Hee had. Her husband told her that Ji Wook got hurt after saving a lawyer from their firm, but her tingly senses is telling her that this girl is someone more than just a ‘colleague’ for her son. “Is she…your girlfriend?”

Bong Hee and Ji Wook stared at each other, the panic in their eyes evident after being asked with an unexpected question. The room got silent and she pursed her lips in understanding.

“Why are you so quiet?” 

The older didn’t get her answer when suddenly, another woman barged into the room with furrowed brows.

“Eun Bong Hee! Why aren’t you resting? You bad child, I looked all over for you!” she hurriedly approached Bong Hee and nudged her in the elbow. She quickly noticed her daughter’s expression though and looked at the mother-son opposite them.

Loud gasps coming from the two mothers surprised everyone and Mr. Bang quickly went out of the room to avoid being involved despite his immense interest on the situation. He could only wish the both of them luck.

“Ahjumma!”

“Mrs. Bok Ja!”

“Is this girl your daughter?!”

“Is Prosecutor No your son?!”

There was pure disbelief in their faces for a moment before they both excitedly chattered among themselves. Neither Ji Wook nor Bong Hee admitted anything but the two mothers were already ahead of them.

Bong Hee went beside Ji Wook in confusion.

“I guess the favorite masseuse that mother was talking about was your mom.” 

“Ahh.”

They both couldn’t help but laugh awkwardly yet with relief that both their mothers got along well.

Bong Hee had something lingering in her mind though.

They both already admitted their feelings for each other and their misunderstandings were already cleared. So was she Ji Wook’s girlfriend now? The thought made her blush and her mind started floating elsewhere until she felt him hold her hand and lightly squeeze.

Bong Hee couldn’t bear to look at him in embarrassment, their mothers still chatting about the amazing coincidence in front of them while her heart hammered inside her chest.

Not as if this was gonna be her first relationship, but it sure feels like a first time.

Bong Hee was mentally slapping herself. She should’ve really bought those meds for anxiety before they left the hospital cause now her nerves started making her jittery during the trip to Ji Wook’s house. 

“We have a lot of catching up to do. Would you mind being a dear and helping Ji Wook settle in his house for me?”

“Oh don’t worry, my daughter would gladly do so. She’s a kind kid. Aren’t you, Bong Hee?”

It totally wasn’t obvious that their mothers were purposely pairing the both of them. The old women still had a lot of catching up to do even after days of constant chatting at the hospital and less taking care of their children. Suuuure. Bong Hee had to resist the urge to constantly roll her eyes in front of them.

She placed the last bag at the table and stood silent as Ji Wook went to the kitchen to pour a glass of water for them both. Her eyes took in the surroundings and she took a deep breath to calm herself down. The place was so nostalgic for her and the memories that filled her head wasn’t exactly helping her nervousness right now. Why was she so nervous anyway?

Ji Wook beckoned for her to sit at the sofa, which she gladly did so until she tensed when he sat down so close to her. She cleared and carefully reached for the glass that he offered to her.

Apparently, she wasn’t careful enough cause the glass nearly slipped from her hand and Ji Wook had to hold her hand to prevent her from getting wet and embarrassing herself in the process. Bong Hee wasn’t sure if she should be thanking the heavens for Ji Wook’s extremely fast reflexes or cursing herself for being clumsy cause now she wasn’t breathing from having physical contact in addition to being so close to him.

“Why are you so nervous?”

Good question. She didn’t know the answer either. And was his voice always this deep?

Bong Hee opened her lips in an attempt to answer but nothing came out and she ended up looking like a fish trying to breathe outside from water. 

The edge of Ji Wook’s lips twitched upwards and he gently took the glass from her and placed it on the table. He turned towards her and held both of her hands with his, the warmth of his palms quickly spreading to her whole being. 

“Bong Hee-yah.” his eyes were downcast to their joined hands as he gently squeezes. “I know I’ve been saying sorry far too many times already but at least, let me apologize for only asking this now….” he glances up and Bong Hee felt like crying for some reason when she saw his eyes that were finally so clear to her. Those eyes that used to be so guarded and full of secrets, she could now see how vulnerable he was that she could drown in them.

“I’m sorry it took a while…..but will you be my girlfriend?”

Time stopped and everything was suddenly bursting with colors. The world is saved and the birds outside started singing in celebration as the clouds made way for a perfect rainbow to color the sky. Even the bluetooth speaker seems to congratulate her and sparked to life to play joyful music that only her ears could hear.

“Bong Hee?” Ji Wook nudged her.

When she finally came back from her thoughts, Ji Wook was worriedly staring at her. “Hey, breathe.”

Bong Hee took a deep breath in response and coughed as she recovered. Ji Wook sighed in relief and patted her back. “Are you o--”

“YES!”

He flinched from her sudden outburst and Bong Hee could feel her cheeks burning. She was probably bright red as a tomato right now and wished for the ground to open up so she could fall in and die.

Ji Wook started laughing and pinched her cheek. “Yes as in ‘you’re okay’ or is that for something else?” he had this huge adorable dorky smile on his face that was a rare sight and Bong Hee couldn’t find it in her to be irritated at him.

She still pouted and murmured her answer. “Yes….I’’ll be your girlfriend.” her words were barely heard but it was all that Ji Wook needed to smile. He cupped her warm cheek and leaned towards her that their foreheads touched. “I didn’t hear you.” 

Bong Hee avoided his eyes and huffed in embarrassment. “You’re so annoy--” he suddenly seals her lips with his, his other hand reaching around her waist to bring her closer to him as he took her breath away for the second time. She could feel his smile as he lightly kisses her and couldn’t help but smile too. Bong Hee wraps her arms on his neck and playfully leaned on him heavily during the kiss that he broke it off to laugh and support her so they wouldn’t fall. He sighs in contentment as he hugs her and she felt like everything was finally alright.

“So it’s Day 1 from today?” Ji Wook whispers excitedly and tightens his hug, his smile so obvious from his tone.

Bong Hee giggles and buries her head in his neck, her hair tickling him when she nodded.

“Day 1.”

NOTE: 

so we've finally reached the end!! huhuhu I'm sorry if it seems so anticlimatic. As i said before, I had a hard time writing the ending chapters cause I think I'm very bad with endings huhuh and this is the very first fanfic I have actually written! (but not the 1st one i've released) ^w^ I'm so glad I was able to finish it until the end, even though it took 2 years hahaha Thank you very much for everyone who sticked with me throughout this journey~, it was seriously unforgettable. I remember writing the first few chapters just for fun and to play with the idea of Healer,K2 and Ji Wook in one drama since i wasn't planning on uploading it and I couldn't believe that I would receive so much support and lots of readers who leaves comments! it was amazing! Thank you from the very bottom of my jibong heart <3

I will continue writing fics but will now move on to other dramas and ships that I have grown to love as well :"D I do hope to be given the chance to have you guys as my companions again when the time comes!^^ I'll be active in posting at twitter (@bongbongshi) when a new fic comes out so feel free to follow or check from time to time if you're interested or you could subscribe to me here hehe~
