Chapter 13

Cappuccinos & Crushes

On Saturday evening, Yerin opened her front door to see SinB dressed nicely and carrying a bouquet of flowers. While SinB always looked good, she looked especially attractive with her hair tied up, wearing a red and black striped shirt with a denim jacket, leggings, and boots.

“You look beautiful,” Yerin said, accepting the flowers SinB handed her and stepping aside to let her in.

“That’s supposed to be my line,” SinB joked. “You look beautiful too.”

Yerin blushed and said thanks. She’d put her hair into a bun and was also wearing a striped shirt under her beige coat. Though not explicitly said, it was clear both of them thought of the fair as their first official date, scheming to set up their friends included.

After putting the flowers in a vase with some water, Yerin and SinB left for the fair that was being held in a park nearby. They held hands and swung them back and forth childishly, smiling like idiots as they talked about random things. Yerin had expected to feel more nervous about the date, but seeing SinB smiling at her so warmly calmed her fears.

SinB stopped them just before they got to the entrance, pulling Yerin into some trees that blocked them from view of the other people going to the fair. Yerin quirked an eyebrow as SinB guided her to lean against a tree.

“Just in case I don’t get to do this later,” SinB explained shyly.

She kissed Yerin softly, hands reaching up to cradle her face. Yerin kissed back, trying to keep it from getting too heated. She hugged SinB to her, smiling into the kiss. They kissed for a little longer before reluctantly pulling away with pink cheeks that had nothing to do with the chill in the air.

“We’d better get going. Everyone is probably waiting for us,” Yerin said, realizing they’d just been smiling at each other for a few minutes. She reached out and tangled her fingers with SinB’s, tucking their hands into her coat pocket to keep them warm.

Like she predicted, the other girls were waiting by the entrance for them. Yuju and Umji were talking amicably, but Sowon and Eunha were on opposite ends, looking everywhere but each other.

“Looks like we have our work cut out for us,” SinB muttered to Yerin as they walked up. Hiding her frustration, SinB smiled at the girls, greeting them. “Hey, sorry we’re a little late. I hope you weren’t waiting too long.”

“It’s fine, SinB-ah,” Umji said. “We just got here.”

“What did you guys want to do?” Sowon asked awkwardly, eyes darting to Eunha only to look away when Eunha glanced at her.

Yerin wanted to hit them both. Could they be any more obvious?

“Well, I already promised Yerin-ah I’d take her to some psychic,” SinB said. Yerin glanced at her girlfriend curiously because she definitely didn’t ask to see a psychic. SinB glanced back, eyes telling her to just go with it. “Why don’t we all go?”

Eunha nodded excitedly. “I love going to psychics! It’s fun to see what they say, don’t you think?”

“Let’s go then,” Yuju said, leading the way.

Yerin tried to move to walk with Sowon, but she was held back by SinB who was waiting for Eunha. Yerin could only shrug and go with it. SinB really did like meddling in others’ affairs.

“How’ve you been, Eunha-unnie?” SinB asked. “Sorry we haven’t hung out much, but between Yerin-ah, school, and dance, free time is pretty hard to come by.”

Eunha just smiled. “Don’t worry about it, SinB-ssi. I’ve been pretty busy with choir anyways. As for how I’ve been…” She looked ahead to where Sowon was playing third wheel to Umji and Yuju. “I’ve been trying to be patient.”

“But other people haven’t been as patient,” SinB said, receiving twin looks of confusion. “I saw Sana-unnie flirting with you the other day,” she explained, flashing a playful smirk. “Does Sowon-unnie have competition?”

At the mention of Sana, Eunha’s cheeks pinked. “No,” she admitted shyly, “she doesn’t. Sana-unnie is very attractive and charming, but she’s no giraffe.”

“You’re an angel to wait this long,” Yerin couldn’t help but say. She hadn’t meant to say that aloud, but she didn’t feel as bad when Eunha giggled. “Seriously, Sowon-unnie is such a pain sometimes.”

“It’s okay,” Eunha reassured. “Feelings can be hard. I just hope she doesn’t keep me waiting forever.”

Yerin playfully glared at her. “I don’t remember you being this nice when I was waiting for the right time to apologize to SinB-ah.”

Eunha smirked. “That’s because you were being a stubborn idiot.”

The girls were still laughing when they caught up to everyone else. The psychic’s tent was purple velvet covered with silver moons and stars. Conveniently enough, the sign outside of it said there was a max of two people at a time. SinB had really planned this well.

“I’m going in with Yerin-ah,” SinB declared.

“Oh, I’ll go with Umji-yah!” Yuju added. This made Yerin share a weighted look with SinB. Was she just going along with the plan, or did she genuinely want to go with Umji? Yerin shook her head. They needed to focus on Sowon and Eunha for now.

“You’ll go with Eunha-unnie, won’t you, Sowon-unnie?” Umji asked innocently. “It won’t be as fun if you go alone.”

“Ah, sure,” Sowon agreed nervously. She gestured for Eunha to go first before following, tossing a worried look over her shoulder. As soon as the tent closed behind her, the rest of the girls hurried to get closer to hear what was going on.

“Hello, it’s so nice to be visited by such a lovely couple.” The voice was low and raspy, clearly the psychic’s.

“O-oh, we aren’t a couple,” Sowon corrected.

“But you want to be.”

“Eh?”

Yerin felt SinB shaking next to her and saw SinB was trying hard not to laugh. She couldn’t help but grin at the sight and at how well this was going.

“I’m pretty sure only one of us wants to be a couple,” Eunha said quietly.

Suddenly, it sounded like a chair toppled over. Sowon exclaimed, “That’s not true!”

“What?”

“What?”

Another pause before the psychic’s uncertain voice entered the conversation again. “Maybe the two of your should clear the air before I predict your future.”

“Come on, Sowon-unnie.”

Realizing they were leaving the tent, the other girls scrambled away, trying to act normal. It turned out there wasn’t really a need because Eunha walked out without so much as a glance at any of them. She just started heading toward a more secluded part of the fair. Sowon appeared moments later, looking frazzled and nervous enough to vomit.

“What do I do?” Sowon asked, high-pitched and shaky.

“Go confess!” Yerin said, smacking Sowon on the back of her head. “Eunha-yah went that way. Now go.” Sowon followed where Yerin was pointing, nearly tripping over her own legs.

SinB gave Yerin a backhug, watching her go. “I thought it was going to be harder to get them together. I was going to send them to the haunted house next, maybe make them share a milkshake.”

Yerin laughed and placed her hands over SinB’s. “You can save that for us.”

A/N: Who said 13 was unlucky? Wonha is finally getting together and no longer a mess! I hope you liked this chapter and for those of you wanting Sinrin, the next chapter will be quite the treat ;)

Also if anyone was curious, this is what I imagined SinB and Yerin wearing on their first date in this chapter:
