Tiffany POV

Soshi University was a quiet place back then until these two transfer students from America appeared. There was Jung Jessica, the cold blonde who was immediately nicknamed the ice princess based on her icy glare. And Kim Taeyeon, the dorky boy who caught the attention of many girls in my class based off his charms.

Once they were done with their introductions, Ms. Park was planning out the seating for them and they were looking around the class for empty seats. I was sitting in between an empty desk and Sunny was on my right. The empty desk next to me was right by the window and there was another empty one behind it. Ms. Park noticed this vacancy and told Taeyeon to sit next to me and Jessica behind him.

I was feeling content that they were both so near me. I can actually have the opportunity to talk to them without grabbing so much attention to myself~ I glanced over to my right to see Sunny entranced by the new students. I couldn’t help but let out a small giggle that could only be heard between the two of us—this caught Sunny off guard and she whipped her head towards me.

She looked irritated that I bothered her but then she smiled and whispered, “You’re lucky Fany-ah! You get to sit next to Taeyeon!” Then she pouted. Her aegyo was getting on my nerves but it’s too early in the morning to be talking about that.

“I know right.” I replied back. “I can finally speak in English with other people~! It’s too bad that I’m too shy to approach them…I don’t want to gather attention to myself…” I bowed my head a little to show my solemnity.

“It’s alright, I can break the ice if you want~” She smiled.

I appreciated her generosity but I turned down the offer. I really didn’t know what to say to them anyways.

“It’s alright Sunny-ah! I’ll do something about it haha.” I chuckled a bit to sooth Sunny’s anticipations.

As our little conversation ended, Taeyeon and Jessica walked along the aisle to their seat. Jessica was walking in front of Taeyeon dragging him by his arm. It was a funny sight actually, like a little kid being dragged by his mother. I couldn’t help but make a small smile at the sight.  Taeyeon noticed me and smiled back showing his toothy grin again. I quickly turned away from his face and felt a little flustered.

My heart started beating faster as they were less than a meter away and they took their seats. I was very much anticipated to get to know these beautiful strangers. I peeked a little to my left side to see Taeyeon looking at me again. I always look at the wrong time! We always just happen to make eye contact and it would be me breaking that contact every time I turn my head away.

I nodded my head a little to him and greeted him, “Hi T-Taeyeon-sshi, my name i-is Hwang T-Tiffany. N-Nice to meet you!” I managed to say with the little confidence I had. I looked up to see him smiling back at me.

“Hey Tiffany, you can just call me Taeyeon. No need for formalities okay?” he said and smiled again to show his perfect teeth.

I smiled back, this time with my actual smile. My group of friends said I had a beautiful eye smile or so I was told. So I flashed him my signature smile and turned back my attention to Ms. Park. With my peripheral vision I can still see Taeyeon looking at me until he turned his head towards Ms. Park. I wonder why he keeps looking at me…

There was a sudden gust of cold wind as I felt a pair of cold eyes staring at me. I shivered a little in my seat, knowing that it was Jessica who was glaring at me. I turned back and my assumption was correct. I smiled a little to her and she simply turned her head back to the front of the class.

I shrugged it off and turned to the front of the class as Ms. Park was going to explain the activity we were going to do. Since it was the first day of our second year in Soshi University, Ms. Park announced to the class that we’re having a little get-to-know-each-other activity.

“Class, since this is the first day why don’t we get to know each other first. This is Japanese class so let’s see how much you remember over break, okay? Get a partner and ask questions in Japanese so we can share in class.”

Everyone groaned, especially Sunny and Yoona. I studied a lot of Japanese during my break so I didn’t have anything to worry about. Sooyoung can speak Japanese better than most of us, and Yuri was practically on the same level as me.

“Aigoo! Sooyoungie didn’t teach me any Japanese over break at all!” Sunny cried out loud and caught Sooyoung’s attention. He walked over to Sunny and felt a little guilty for not teaching his girlfriend over break. (A/N: Yes, they are dating. SooSun and YoonHyun are dating.)

“Ahh sorry Soonkyu…you know I was busy with basketball practices right?” Sooyoung sincerely apologized to her. He grabbed her wrist gently and pulled her into a tight hug.

“You even promised to teach me too…” Sunny pouted and gave in to his apology as she hugged him back.

“I know, I know. ごめんうさぎ. (Sorry Bunny) Anyways, you owe me food since you were checking out that new student!” Sooyoung said in an annoyed, joking matter.

“Yah! I wasn’t checking him out! I was just excited to see new students from America!” Sunny defended. “I’ll make you some kimbap later Shikshin okay?” She said and smiled at Sooyoung. “Yay! Sunny is going to cook for me again~!” he cheered and kissed Sunny on the cheek.

I was a little uncomfortable at the intimate couple in front of me, even though they are my friends, I couldn’t help but feel awkward around couples.

No one’s POV

The class scattered and went to look for a partner. Most people wanted to talk to Taeyeon and Jessica but they were too afraid to approach them as Jessica was giving off her glare again.

“Yah Sica, we won’t ever make friends like that if you keep giving your icy glare.” Taeyeon stated and chuckled at Jessica’s habit.

“You know I’m not even glaring right? I’m simply waiting for them to come to me. You know how I am Tae!” Jessica proclaimed to Taeyeon as she hit his arm playfully.

“Hey why don’t we get to know Tiffany?” Taeyeon said as he was looking for her.

“Sure, but she has to come to us first.”

“Hey that’s messed haha. C’mon let’s go.”

Tiffany was with Sunny, Sooyoung, Yuri, Seohyun, and Yoona. Tiffany was contemplating whether or not she wants to approach the American couple or not.

Tiffany’s POV

Gah! I want to talk to them but I don’t know how! What am I supposed to say? Do they know as much Japanese as I do or what??? Tiffany was in conflict with her thoughts; she was disregarding her surroundings without even knowing.

Sigh. It would be much easier if they were the ones who come up to me. Then maybe I wouldn’t be so shy! It’s alright, maybe we can talk about school? Politics? I don’t even know their interest…But they must enjoy studying right? I mean they are at one of the most prestigious universities…Then again, how did Sunny and Yoona even get accepted? Wait where am I going with this? Aigoo…

No one’s POV

As Tiffany was lost in her thoughts, Taeyeon and Jessica approached her.

“Tiffany!” Taeyeon tried to get her attention. “Tiffany! Hey you there?” He tried several times to call her but Tiffany was too lost in her thoughts.

“She looks concentrated Tae. Let’s just leave her.” Jessica said as she was getting impatient with this girl in front of her.

“Hmmm. Wait. Let me try one more time. Good morning Tiffany! Are you alive?!” Taeyeon said out loud which startled the girl out of her thoughts.

Tiffany was in a daze when she finally realized what the situation at hand is.

“Ah! Sorry! I was so lost in my thoughts.” Tiffany smiled her eye smile which caused Taeyeon to smile back automatically. Jessica on the other hand just scowled and said, “Yah! We’re supposed to speak Japanese right now remember?”

Both remembered what the teacher said and agreed to the circumstance. “Ah, sorry I forgot, haha. I even spoke English just then and nobody seemed to care Sica.” Taeyeon bent down to her and smiled. Jessica smiled back and turned to Tiffany who was looking at the intimacy between the two.

Jessica shrugged her shoulders and told Taeyeon to pay more attention in class. Thus, they spoke in Japanese.

*In Japanese*

“ はじめまして！どうぞよろしく！ぼくはテヨン！こちらはジェッシカちゃん！” (Nice to meet you! My name is Taeyeon! This is Jessica!) Taeyeon said to Tiffany. He bowed and put his hand behind Jessica and pushed her forward causing her to look as if she was bowing as well.

“Haha I already know that.” Tiffany laughed at Taeyeon’s dorkiness which received a smile from the latter.

Tiffany’s friends came along and they all introduced themselves to each other. They became acquainted with Taeyeon easily due to his friendly personality and had trouble communicating with Jessica for she only talks to Taeyeon.

Everyone was enjoying their conversation in Japanese. Taeyeon’s and Jessica’s level in the language was much higher than most but on the same level as Tiffany. This result surprised Tiffany for they were all able to communicate in English, Korean, AND Japanese.

Tiffany’s POV

Taeyeon’s really easy to talk to. I wish I was like that. I make things so awkward. I hope to become really good friends with them though~ I smiled as I was getting along with them better than I thought.

I noticed that Yuri has been keeping his eye on Jessica as well. Every time she grabs on to Taeyeon or even talks to him, Yuri would look and eye the couple. Was he taking a liking to Jessica or what? Wait, are they even a couple? It looks like it but I don’t want to ask and make things awkward…

The only thing that bothers me is the closeness between the two. Questions filled my head as I was wondering if they were together or not. I shouldn’t even be worried about this topic. Usually it’s none of my business but why do I have the urge to know?
