We didn’t talk as we went down the rocky path. I could feel his presence beside me, and I knew he could feel mine, but we didn’t say anything to each other.

I had immediately regretted my words when I saw how pained he looked. My anger had already melted away, and all that replaced it was guilt. I wanted to apologize, but I couldn’t. Part of it was because of my shameless, selfish ego. So, we continued like that, walking as we bathed in awkward silence until white fog began to appear.

I didn’t think anything of it at first. Fog wasn’t uncommon, and since Jungkook didn’t look too troubled about it, I was relaxed. But as the fog got thicker and thicker, I felt an unsettling feeling rest in my stomach. It was as if the mist whispered, “Danger is near”.

I kept walking with that feeling in me, trying to ignore it. However, it only grew bigger and bigger, and at last I had to tell Jungkook about it. But when I turned to my side, he was nowhere to be seen. My heart thumped. Then I knew, my dream had become a reality.

I knew what was behind me, so I ran with all my might, everything happening exactly how I pictured it. I refused to give in and have that terrible image return to my head. I panted, my breaths short and desperate, my legs already starting to throb. There was nothing to do but run, and that’s what I did.

I held up for as long as I could, my face was wet and sticky while I gasped for air. At last, I had to look behind me and saw the exact same thing I had seen in my dream. Still, I was caught by complete surprise - the woman’s scream sounded even louder than pictured. I grimaced as the deadly sound entered my ears.

I knew what this woman was. I’ve read about these creatures called banshees. Though they had human characteristics, they were far from being one, with a voice so deadly and poisonous. I’m not exaggerating when I say their shrieks could kill you, or assure a death soon-to-be.

I wanted to cry. I wanted to scream. I wanted to wake up from this nightmare. If the banshee screamed one more time, I would definitely die in an instant.
