If I wasn’t confused before, now I’m absolutely perplexed.
The strange man is walking a couple meters ahead of me, but once in awhile he would look back to check if I was following him. We’re heading in the direction of the mountains, away from the cliff. Although we’ve only been walking for a few minutes, it felt as if we had gone nowhere - The path extended much farther than I thought. None of the scenery changed - It was so consistent that it scared me. I tried to keep my heartbeat steady.
No one spoke after he had said those last few words. Unable to contain my curiosity, I broke the silence.
“H-”
“I know.” He began, somehow knowing I was going to speak with his back still turned to me. “You have many questions. Some I have the answers to, others I do not. But please remember to stay calm and don’t freak out under any circumstances. Understood?”
I think it is better I can’t see his face right now. The intensity of his eyes would frighten me.
I nod, but after remembering he can’t see me I say, “I understand.”
He stops walking and turns to me with a small smile on his face. “We’ve been going for a while now. Let’s take a break and talk.”
He goes to an empty spot on the side and sits down. I follow, and after a moment of hesitation, I sit down beside him. The strong wind blows my hair back, but strangely enough, I don’t feel cold. I turn to him, and I studied his features up close. Now that my fear has vanished slightly, I noticed this man was rather handsome.
“Why are you staring at me?”
I bolted upright and cleared my throat, avoiding his gaze. My cheeks reddened and I kept my head down.
He simply just chuckled and shook his head. “Cute.”
“E-excuse me?”
“Nothing.” He said quickly, turning to me. “So, what did you want to ask me?”
I thought for a second. I didn’t want to overwhelm him with questions, so I narrowed down my choices.
“Who are you?” I lifted my head up, finally having the courage to meet his eyes. Bad idea. My heart went on a rampage.
He sighed. “I knew this question was going to come up sooner or later.” He adjusted his position and shifted so that his whole body was facing towards me.
“My name is Jeon Jungkook.” He said.
“Jungkook." I repeated, liking the way his name rolled off my tongue.
He smiled. “I'm an elf.”
“Elf?!”
“I know, I look nothing like an elf.” Jungkook replied. Darn right he didn’t. He was tall and slender and wore dark colors, his outer appearance looking nothing like the jolly small creature. The only thing that set him apart from human was his ever-so-slightly pointed ears, which I just noticed now.
“Your ears…”
“That’s the only thing I inherited from elf genetics.” He pointed to them. “The rest of my family members are these jolly old folks who love doing good for the world.”
“So, they dress up in green and help out Sa
