It was like deja vu. I’ve fainted so many times now, I don’t know the difference between dream and reality.
So, while unconscious, I had a dream. A very realistic one, at that. I was walking on the trail with Jungkook, heading in the never-ending direction, thick fog clouding my sight. I looked beside me and saw Jungkook struggling, as he tried to trudge through the mist as well.
The only sound between us was our steps, making a crunch as we walked on the rocky path. I wanted to ask him something, anything, to break this awful silence, but when I opened my mouth nothing came out. I couldn’t talk. I tried walking closer to him, but I just kept going straight. It was like my body had a mind of its own.
Then, before my very eyes, Jungkook vanished. He didn’t slowly fade away, or walk into the mist. No, he simply just disappeared. I blinked once, then twice. He was gone. I don’t know where he went, but he was gone.
I attempted to call for his name. Of course, my mouth kept shut. I panicked and ran into the fog. My legs moved quickly and my arms swung hard, but I was far from tired. It was like I was watching a 3D movie of myself.
I didn’t stop running. I ran and ran, faster than I ever have. I didn’t know why I was running, or where I was going. Slowly, I looked behind me, and the hairs on my arms and neck stood up. It was horrifying. There was a long-haired woman wearing a long, flowy dress, her appearance screaming danger. Her eyes were red and she cried blood, and when I met her eyes she screamed. It was the kind of scream that rang through my ears, and all I could hear was the sound of her screech as I sprinted.
But the scariest part was what she was holding in her arms. There lay Jungkook's lifeless body, limp and cold, his amber eyes drained of color and blood trickling out of his mouth.
I woke up and bolted upright, beads of sweat dripping down my face. Strange enough, I was quite warm, and I looked down to see I had a blanket draped over me. I was relieved to see Jungkook beside me with a first aid kit, and nearly hugged him.
He met my eyes, and for once, I was happy to see they were colorful and full of life.
“Oh, thank god.” He said, abandoning the bandages and medicine he was dealing with before. “I’m so happy you’re alive.”
I rubbed my head, and that’s when I saw the long scar across my arm. It was deep and fresh, though some of the blood had already dried. I touched it and winced. Even the most gentle of contact would sting it.
Jungkook seemed to notice too. “When you collapsed, your arm hit a rock and it cut you. That explains this.” He held up a bundle of medical supplies and forced a smile, to make the situation a little more lighthearted.
“What happened?” I asked, for what seemed like the nth time.
“I have absolutely no clue.” He said, coming over and dr
