“Jungkook.” I said, as the two of us started down the trail again. “I used my power again.”
“On purpose?”
I nodded. “That’s how I saved you from the banshee. This super fast ray of light came from within me and hit her square in the chest, knocking her out.”
“Did you faint?”
I shook my head proudly.
“Good. Well, at least you’re better at controlling your power now.” He gave me a half-smile in approval. “Do you know how to use it?”
“I think so.” I replied as we passed by a small patch of grass. “I just need to concentrate really hard.”
“Okay.” Jungkook pointed to a large, old branch in the path ahead of us. “Chuck that thing at me.”
I stared at Jungkook slack-jawed, my eyes burning into the back of his head. “Are you crazy?!”
He gave me a crooked, mischievous grin. “If you’ve never lost your mind, then you’ve never followed your heart. - Unknown”
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms stubbornly. “You won’t have a heart after you’re dead from the branch I’ll throw at you.”
“Come on.” Jungkook pleaded. “You need to practice using your power, so that it doesn’t get out of control. I’ve heard many cases where magical beings who were unable to properly use their power accidentally killed themselves with it.”
“I know how to use my power.” I said blankly, power walking ahead of him so I could tune out his nonsense.
“You’ve only done it twice!” Jungkook protested, speeding to catch up with my pace.
I sighed and faced him. “I’m not going to kill you just for some stupid old power demonstration.”
“Remember? Elves heal very quickly and effectively.” Jungkook said, tapping his forehead. “Trust me, I know what I’m doing.”
“Wait,” I said, realizing something. “Then how come you couldn’t have just healed yourself when the banshee hurt you?”
