Chapter 15

Only You

“You found her?!” Taehyung asked in a booming voice as he was unable to believe what he just heard.

“Yes and-”

Jungkook didn’t get to finish for Taehyung once again spoke. “What did she say? How did she react?”

“I didn’t confront her about the notes.”

“Why? I thought you wanted to know her.”

“I do but I think I’m not ready to let her know it was me all along.”

Taehyung nodded, understanding that it would probably cause a huge scene if Yuna were to find out she was exchanging notes with none other than Jungkook whom she most likely despises. “That’s understandable. You’re just not ready yet.”

“Exactly,” Jungkook agreed before he took a sip of his iced Americano.

“But don’t you think you have to do it soon? School’s almost over. You only have tomorrow left before summer starts and you just might not get the chance to tell her.”

“Don’t worry. I already got that covered. I’m already planning to approach her tomorrow.”

“During lunch?”

Jungkook nodded seriously only to be disturbed by Yugyeom’s laugh.

“What’s so funny?” Jungkook asked, a bit annoyed at the mood killer.

“Nothing. It’s nothing. I just remembered something,” he replied before casting a glance over to Taehyung who raised an eyebrow inquisitively.

“I forgot you were this weird,” Jungkook commented at his friend who could only give a goofy grin.

“Anyway, Jungkook, could you please order me another batch of those cookies? I wasn’t quite contented with eating only three,” Taehyung asked innocently at his dongsaeng.

“Sure. I’ll be right back,” Jungkook agreed before he went away to comply with his hyung’s request.

As soon as they were assured Jungkook was nowhere in sight, Taehyung shuffled closer to Yugyeom before saying, “Report everything.”

Yugyeom nodded and began to narrate everything he knew.

“Jungkook thinks Tzuyu is the girl he’s looking for.”

“Who’s that? I thought he finally knew it was Yuna.”

“Well, apparently, you got the wrong idea.”

“Yes. I could tell but how come?”

“How come Jungkook thought it was Tzuyu?”

“Yeah. That girl is way off track.”

“Exactly. I’m not sure though but I have a hunch,” Yugyeom stated as he motioned for his hyung to come even closer for he will be whispering it just to be safe in case Jungkook arrives.

Taehyung followed and leaned in closer as he offered his right ear for whatever Yugyeom has to say.

“I think Yuna already knows it’s Jungkook she’s been exchanging notes with and that she’s trying to hide her identity by throwing him off.”

“Man, I need a stress reliever!” SinB said as she stretched her arms out wide after a tiring day of final examinations.

“We still have exams tomorrow,” Sowon declared as if it wasn’t obvious enough that it was still Thursday.

“I know but who even takes last days of exams seriously?”

“No one!” Yerin chimed as she wrapped an arm each around the shoulders of both girls.

“Exactly,” SinB agreed. “So how about we pay Solar-unnie a visit at her café?”

“I’ll pass. I have an early curfew today since it’s still examinations week,” Umji informed as she raised her hand to emphasize her point. “I’ll be free tomorrow though.”

“You’re no fun,” Yerin pouted at the younger girl before turning to look at Yuju and Eunha who seems to have been absorbed in their own conversation bubble. The two had always been partners even with the whole group but today was odd. It’s as if something is going on- something serious. “How about you guys?” Yerin asked as she approached them who quickly stopped their whispers to each other.

“What about us?” Yuna inquired as she looked at the others one by one.

“Aren’t you coming with us?”

“Where to?” Eunha butted in on the talk. “Are we supposed to go somewhere?”

“We’re heading to Solar-unnie’s café to relax. Are both of you in?”

Eunha turned to look at her best friend for her approval but she was only given a shrug and so without much hesitation, she said, “Sure. Count us in.”

“Yay!” Yerin and SinB cheered together before they continued ahead, skipping with every step.

“They act like they’re babies,” Sowon commented while shaking her head at the two. “Oh! Before I forget, you finished your new song, right, Yuju?”

Yuna stopped admiring the restlessness of Yerin and SinB and faced her unnie with a proud smile. “I did.”

“Do you mind if we listen to it? I’m sure Solar-unnie would also be delighted to have you sing it at her café. It’ll gain her more customers.”

“I agree with that, unnie. Yuju-unnie’s voice would attract a lot of attention,” Umji added while giving Yuju a thumb up and a wink.

“You’re praising me too much.”

“Don’t tell me you don’t like it,” Eunha teased as she poked her best friend with her elbow.

“I do but it’s not like that. I’m not that good and my song’s not that great either.”

“You’re too humble for your own good, Yuju,” Sowon joked before beginning to walk again. Yerin and SinB were already far up ahead and they needed to catch up before they lose sight of the two.

“I’m just telling the truth,” Yuna defended as she, Eunha, and Umji also began to walk with their Sowon-unnie. “You guys are expecting too much from me.”

“Well, we’ll just find out what’s real when we hear you later,” Eunha declared as she wrapped an arm around her best friend, trying to match her height with hers in a futile attempt.

“I won’t bet on it being a hit though.”

“Bread!” Yerin cried out the moment they entered the café and the smell of fresh pastries greeted them. “I could now die in peace.”

“I’m craving macarons!” Sowon added as she followed Yerin to the counter where a wide variety of cakes, bread, and other sweet stuffs were being displayed.

“To hell with the last day of finals. I’m stuffing myself full today until I could no longer get up for tomorrow,” Yerin said as she stuck her face to the glass cover of the desserts.

“Uhmm…excuse me. Could you move a little? I’d like to get a view of the display?” someone asked from behind Yerin which caused Sowon to in and drag the drooling girl a little to the left.

“Sorry. She’s always like this whenever we’re here,” Sowon apologized at the guy whom she could somehow recognize but she’s not quite sure who.

“It’s okay. It’s cute seeing girls act like a child,” the guy replied as he eyed Yerin with much amusement.

“Yes, sir?” the cashier interrupted.

“Oh, I’ll have a slice of this lemon lime cheesecake please.”

“Would you like anything else, sir?”

“No, that would be all.”

“Okay. One slice of lemon lime cheesecake coming right up. Please get your number, sir. And we’ll serve your order right away.”

“Thank you,” the guy greeted as he got his number from the counter. “I’ll be going first,” he, then, said to Sowon and Yerin before patting Yerin’s head playfully and walking away.

“Who was that?” SinB asked as she came up to her unnies with a bread stick already in her hands.

“I’m not sure. He looks familiar though. Must be someone from university,” Sowon answered before looking around. “Where are Eunha and Yuju?”

“Yuju-unnie’s preparing by the stage while Eunha-unnie’s reserving us a table. They gave me their orders.”

“Okay, let’s order then before Yerin throws a fit,” Sowon stated while supporting Yerin to stand back up.

“I want everything,” the other girl chimed in a cutesy manner as she gave the others a pout. “Order everything.”

“I’ll order if you pay,” Sowon teased as she approached the lady by the counter.

“You can use the other guitar if you like,” Solar said as she approached Yuna with a smile. The latter has always been a good form of entertainment not only for her customers but for her as well. Each time Yuna is in her café, Solar would make sure that she gets to hear her sing. She liked her voice. It was a sort of relaxation for her after hours of serving lattes and sweets. And to make things even better, her performances are always free of charge.

“Thanks, but this one’s just fine. I already tuned it,” Yuna replied, reviewing the sounds produced by the instrument in her hands.

“If you say so. Anyway, what will we be hearing today?”

“It’s my new song. I have been working on it for weeks now and I just finished it recently. The others have been pestering me to sing it here.”

“Wow, that’s wonderful. Good luck, then. I’m sure you’ll have everybody in awe just like always,” Solar commented as she got off the platform. “Do your best especially since I just saw some cute boys around your age who came in not long ago,” she added with a wink before leaving to entertain some customers a few tables away.

Yuna chuckled to herself and proceeded to sit on the stool at the middle of the mini stage, her guitar tucked into place perfectly in her arms. She took a deep breath to keep her composure. It isn’t like it’s her first time performing before a crowd. She’s been doing this for years now. It’s something she’s accustomed to but today was different. There’s something in her gut that tells her something was off and she doesn’t know what.

“Maybe it’s because I’m performing a new song?” she reasoned with doubt but abandoned the thought when she realized that she had performed her newly-written songs here before.

“What could be wrong with me?”

Yuna decided to erase the unnecessary feeling for the time being. Her Solar-unnie was expecting something from her and she couldn’t afford to let her down. Heck, the other customers were also anticipating her performance. Most were eyeing her, waiting for her to begin. She reckoned they were curious to know how good or bad she is going to be.

“Here goes nothing.”

Another deep breath escaped Yuna before she closed her eyes and prepared herself. When she opened them, her eyes immediately looked for the table where the others were and given her Sowon-unnie’s tall figure, it didn’t even take her five seconds to locate them. They, too, along with everybody else, had eyes on her, patiently waiting.

Yuna bit her lips in mild unease before shutting her eyes once more and beginning to strum the guitar.

You are my star oh oh

Yuna let go of whatever thoughts she had before she started singing and focused on her song instead. This was her first public performance of this new song. It is meant to be special. Her tingling mind could wait. This was the moment- her moment.

“And that is your what? Third slice of cheesecake?” Yugyeom inquired as he stared in disbelief at Taehyung who was happily consuming the sweet dessert.

“You’re going to get fat, you know,” Jungkook added while sipping on his drink in a laidback position.

“I don’t get fat over things like these so it’s fine,” the elder of the three replied before placing yet another spoonful of cheesecake in his mouth.

“Girls will definitely get turned off once they see you eating the way you are doing now,” said Yugyeom with a bantering look. Unfortunately for him, the older didn’t really mind but continued to devour his food instead.

“That’s why I specially chose this spot. We’re well-hidden here which means there will be no worries,” Jungkook assured, confident of his self who had the initiative to choose a table in the corner where no one can clearly see them. The café they were currently in is famous especially to students from their university which means there will probably be crazy fangirls that could recognize them and he didn’t want that. He was already stressed enough by finals and the search for his mysterious friend that putting up with any more trouble might cause him to break down. That’s just exaggerating, of course.

“It’s good to see you’re finally thinking cleverly now,” Yugyeom joked which the other doesn’t quite get. “You’ve been such an idiot lately,” he made clear what he was trying to say.

“Hey-”

Jungkook was cut off when the sound of a guitar echoed across the entire café. Taehyung stopped eating as he, too, was caught by the unexpected music.

“I didn’t know they had gigs here,” Yugyeom uttered.

You are my star oh oh

Jungkook covered his friend’s mouth to shut him up as he tried to listen. There was something in him that seemed to have been drawn by the music. It was odd. His intuition was telling him so but he has no idea why.

“I must have gone crazy from yesterday’s event.”

A day passes away
We’ve dreamed the same dream, all of my dream
As I see you reflected in the starlight
I remember you

Jungkook sat frozen in his seat as he took in every second of the song. The voice sounded familiar. He was sure he’s heard it before.

“I could get used to this,” Yugyeom remarked while reclining in his seat.

Taehyung, on the other hand, shrugged away the sudden feeling he got from the surprising performance and went back to eating his dessert.

Hey, you know, for me
I do, I have something to say
something to say
I’ll tell you a story about us

Jungkook furrowed his brows. Something was off but he couldn’t put his finger on it. There was this feeling of familiarity and, at the same time, unusualness. It was strange. He felt like he’s heard this song before yet there’s also a part of him that’s saying this is his first time hearing it.

“I have really gone mad.”

Memories of you smiling brightly when you first saw me
That makes me smile even now
Times that hurt us will never come back again

Upon hearing the lines, everything snapped into place for Jungkook as he sat in his seat, stiffened. He was quick enough to connect the dots and come up with an answer to his personal query.

“The notes…”

Only you, I think of only you every day
I Believe, I wait for you every day, love for you
Thank you so much for coming to me
A melody for you, sunshine for me

Yuna allowed herself to get carried away by the song as she sang the chorus. It felt good for her to finally release a week or even a month worth of stress and tension through the song. Her last few weeks for this school year had been quite a rollercoaster ride and it was just because she felt jaded on that certain time during History class. It was just because of that stupid first note.

Just one, it’s only you for me
Will you remember just one thing?
You’re the one who shines on me
A melody for you, sunshine for me

“Did I regret it though? Did I regret exchanging notes with Jungkook?”

Oh my sunshine oh

I promise you for my love oh
It’s only you, my sunshine

“Well, thinking of it, it wasn’t that bad befriending him. It made me realize how his conceitedness was all just a façade. It was never skin deep. It was just a mask to hide how much of a baby he is inside.”

Yuna chuckled in her mind over her own thoughts as she continued to sing. It was even a wonder to her how she’s capable of coming up with these thoughts in her head while still singing at the same time.

Sometimes, you know, for me
I do, even when I struggle, I look at you
Hug me so I can lean on you

The replies Jungkook gave her even before she knew it was him came rushing to her as she sang a line she remembered she wrote on one of her notes. She could remember it vivdly. It was that line which changed everything. Because of it, she was in this mess.

Hug me so I can lean on you,” Yuna repeated in mind as she reminisced that moment she ripped a piece from Jungkook’s test paper. Who would have thought that she could be that unlucky? Out of all the papers, she just had to tear from Jungkook’s without even noticing it. What’s more is that she just had to use it for her notes. It was like misfortune doubled and thrown at her without pity.

“Therefore, I conclude, that I, Choi Yuna, am the most unfortunate person on all of the earth.”

Do you remember the times we cried and laughed together?
Now they make us shine
I’ll pray that we can be together for always

“But gaining a new friend isn’t that bad, right?”

Only you, I think of only you every day
I Believe, I wait for you every day, love for you
Thank you so much for coming to me
A melody for you, sunshine for me

“Wait. Was I even a friend to Jungkook? I lied to him. I deceived him. I chose not to tell for my own sake. Is that even what a friend should be?”

Just one, it’s only you for me
Will you remember just one thing?
You’re the one who shines on me
A melody for you, sunshine for me
oh my sunshine oh

“I guess not. That’s why I’m better off not making any contact with him anymore. I’m not worth to be called his friend. I was and still am the worst.”

My heart shines on you
Because of you
For you, I’ll shine on you who is always by my side

“I wouldn’t have lied if I were really his friend. I would’ve told him the truth. Gosh, I never knew I could be like this. Eunha was right. I am selfish.”

Only you, I think of only you every day
I Believe, I wait for you every day, love for you
Thank you so much for coming to me
A melody for you, sunshine for me

“I only think of myself. I even got an innocent Tzuyu in my mess. What have I done? Is there still a way I could fix everything?”

Just one, it’s only you for me
Will you remember just one thing?
You’re the one who shines on me
A melody for you, sunshine for me
oh my sunshine oh

“Probably, not. What’s done is done. On the bright side, tomorrow’s the last day of school which means summer vacation is coming up and which further means I wouldn’t be seeing Jungkook and everyone else except for Eunha and the others. To sum it up, I won’t be dealing with this problem anymore. I won’t be stressing myself for longer. I’ll be free from this burden.”

Oh my sunshine oh
I promise u for my love oh
It’s only you, my sunshine

“Just one day…Just one more day…”

Yuna finished off her song with the last strum on her guitar and with the last thought in her head before a round of applause echoed throughout the entire café. As she looked around to see the faces of her audience, she couldn’t help but feel a bit of proud of herself. A huge grin flashed on her face as she took in the love she was receiving for her song- the song she dedicated a lot of effort into making. She had to admit. Seeing the people glad over her showcase brought a ton of happiness to her. It wasn’t like she wasn’t used to experiencing something like this but it’s just that every time she does it, it will always feel like the first time. For her, that was the major plus in performing. Every performance is a first in its own way.

“I love you, Choi Yuna!” Yerin shouted from her seat as she wiped the tears that formed in her eyes. Yuna couldn’t help but laugh. Leave it to her unnie to cry even at a moment like this.

Yuna waved a hand at her friends’ table which was responded by Eunha and Sinb with thumbs up while Sowon simply threw a proud look as if she was a mom watching her daughter overcome her first musical recital.

Yuna casted a final smile over to everyone whose attentions were directed at her before she gave a bow. She bent her frame in almost a ninety-degree angle to show how much she appreciated their reactions and she held it there for a few seconds before returning to stand back up with the smile still plastered on her face. However, what she came face to face with after was not was she expected. Right in front of her, a few feet away with a poker face, was none other than Jeon Jungkook.

A gasp made its way out of Yuna’s lips automatically as the smile that was once present completely faded and was replaced with a bewildered look in an instant.

“Crap…”

No words came out of Jungkook’s lips as he held his gaze toward Yuna and it wasn’t because he was speechless. Rather, it was because he wanted to hear from her first. He wanted to listen to her before he tells her everything in his head as of the moment. He wanted her explanation. So, he stared and it wasn’t the usual Jungkook stare. It was something else entirely that he himself isn’t sure what to call it.

“Am I mad? Am I disappointed? Am I confused? Or am I simply in a state of shock? I really don’t know.”

Jungkook continued his eye contact with Yuna as the latter took a huge gulp. He was sure she’s panicking right now. Who wouldn’t? She was just caught and to top things off, Jungkook was sure she knew all along and yet remained silent about it. Heck, it wouldn’t have been better if they both didn’t know of the other’s identity but no. She knew but she kept it to herself.

“Maybe what I’m feeling right now is a mixture of everything. Maybe I’m mad, disappointed, confused, and shocked all at the same time.”

The tension slowly enveloped the café’s atmosphere as the applause and cheers died down and all that was left was both teen’s intense eye contact with each other with neither one willing to let go.

Eunha furrowed he brows as she looked at her best friend’s weird expression. Curious, she traced the direction of where Yuna was looking but gasped loudly afterward when she realized who was on the other side of the café.

“Oh my…” she whispered as she placed a hand on her chest as an act of surprise.

“What’s wrong?” Sowon was the first to react as she placed a hand on the shorter girl’s shoulder before also looking at where Jungkook was standing. “What’s with him?”

“Isn’t that Jeon Jungkook?” Yerin, the most informed out of the four, commented from her seat.

“It is,” Eunha muttered in a low voice.

“What’s with him, then?” SinB joined in on the conversation while munching a bread stick in .

“We need to go,” Eunha declared before swiftly grabbing her bag and dashing over to where her best friend was. She quickly removed the guitar from Yuna and placed it in a corner.

“Snap out of it. We have to leave. ASAP.”

Eunha grabbed Yuna, who still stood frozen, by the wrist and proceeded to drag her off the platform.

“Wait!” Jungkook cried out as soon as he realized what was going on. He scampered to catch up with both girls as he squirmed his way through the tables separating him from them. “Please wait!”

Eunha ignored the lad’s call and made her way with Yuna to the kitchen of the café instead.

“We’re lucky Solar-unnie owns this place,” she told the silent girl with her while they made their way inside, making sure the door was securely locked.

“Hey, you’re not allowed-”

Eunha threw a mean look at the personnel before saying, “Shut it.” with gritted teeth. She really wasn’t in the mood right now to be told off. She’s already stressed enough by her best friend’s situation to make time for reprimands.

The personnel held out his hands in surrender before walking away without a single word. As he did so, Eunha eyed Yuna in concern. “Are you okay?” she asked when the answer was already clear judging from how Yuna looks.

“Don’t worry. You don’t have to face him now. You’re safe here. I’ll just ask Solar-unnie a favor to sneak us out of here since I’m sure Jungkook wouldn’t leave without answers. Will that be alright?”

Yuna gave a nod before she was dragged by Eunha over to sit on a chair by the corner. “I don’t know what to do anymore,” Yuna said in an audible whisper.

“It’s okay. I’ll handle this. We’re always in it together in times of trouble, right? Don’t stress yourself. I’ll find a way to solve this. Besides, tomorrow’s the only problem in our hands.”

“I don’t know about that. This is Jungkook we’re talking about. He’s not one to quit that easily. He’ll find a way to talk to me. I’m sure of it.”

“Not if I can help it.”

“Are you okay?” Yugyeom asked as he came close to Jungkook from behind who was slumped by the café’s kitchen door. This was what he dreaded- the fact that Yuna was going to avoid Jungkook which would leave the latter in distress.

“I’m fine,” Jungkook replied in contradiction to what he was really feeling in the instance. “How come I never knew?” he continued, looking up to Yugyeom who had guilt painted over his face.

“Maybe-”

“Wait…You knew?”

“I-”

“Gosh, I can’t believe this!” Jungkook punched the carpeted floor hardly which made Yugyeom flinch. “Was I the only one who was unaware of it? Hyung…” he called out to Taehyung who just arrived at the scene. “Did you also know about it?”

Taehyung bowed his head as he was also guilty. He never knew not telling Jungkook would make him this miserable. He thought it was going to be fun. Of course, both Yugyeom and he thought wrong.

“….” Jungkook cursed before standing up. “I guess you find it funny, don’t you?” And with that, he stormed out of the café, leaving the two behind to look at each other in worry.

“Should we apologize?” Yugyeom asked.

“I don’t think we should do that now. Knowing Jungkook, he needs some time to cool off.”

Yuna stared blankly at her room’s ceiling as she contemplated on what just happened earlier. It was already nine in the evening and her mother was already pestering her to come down and have dinner, thinking she’s probably killing herself with studying, when in fact, she simply doesn’t have the energy left in her to even move an inch. So, she continued to lie down on her bed, something she has been doing ever since she arrived thanks to Eunwoo who was kind enough to pick them up secretly from the café’s back entrance. If she were to estimate, she’s probably been in this position for about three hours straight now.

“Why have I gotten myself into this mess?” she mumbled in a weary voice as she held out a hand to trace the outline of the glow-in-the-dark stars in her ceiling. “I am so dead.”

Yuna gave out another deep sigh while she drew invisible patterns with her hands.

*beep*

Yuna was removed from her trance at the sudden sound of her phone. She eyed the device sitting snuggly beside her.

“Eunha?”

Cautiously, Yuna reached out to grab the phone before turning it on, the screen illuminating the dimness of her room while reflecting the name she was not expecting.

Jeon Jungkook (1 message)

Yuna stared at her phone, unmoving and conflicted on whether she should read it or not.

“C’mon, Choi Yuna. It’s the least you could do after lying to him running away from him like that.”

Decided that it wouldn’t harm her to read a simple text, Yuna unlocked her phone and went on to read whatever Jungkook had to say.

“I really need to talk to you. Meet me at Han River, please. I’ll be waiting.”

Yuna’s mouth flew open as she took in every word on her phone’s screen. She was wondering if she was just imagining things or if everything was real.

“What should I do? Should I ask Eunha for advice?”

“No…I shouldn’t depend on her,” Yuna answered her own question as she sat up on her bed. “This is mine to deal with. I shouldn’t get others involved with my own problem, best friend or not.”

Jungkook checked his wristwatch for the nth time since he arrived. It was already an hour since he sent his text and yet here he was, still waiting in hope that Yuna will show up.

“Who am I kidding? She’s never going to come,” Jungkook said to himself with a chuckle before he stood up from being seated on the ground.

He stood still for a few seconds, hoping for the last time before he realized it was time to let it go. He casted one last look at the river before him before completely turning around to leave.

“Well, this is a shame. Jeon Jungkook, every girl’s dream, has just been stood up.”

“Stood up?” He chuckled. “There wasn’t even an assurance she was going to come.”

Yuna panted heavily as she reached the destination Jungkook stated in his text. She rested her palms on her knees as she tried to catch her breath after running all the way from her house to here. However, she was only met with silence as not a single person was around except for her.

“He must have left.”

“Jeon Jungkook, you prick! I ran all the way here only to find you gone!” she shouted at the top of her lungs to no one in particular in frustration of all her wasted efforts.

“I even had to take off my shoe because it gave up on me!” she added while waving her broken sneaker to prove her point. “You’re really going to have to pay! This shoe was not cheap just so you know. I spent over a hundred thousand won on this pair!”

Yuna slumped to the ground in exhaustion, her shoe still in her hand. “This was my favorite pair…” she continued in a murmur as she sat hopeless.

“So, what are you really angry about? The shoe or me?”

Yuna rapidly turned her head to the direction of the voice- the voice she knew so well. “You…”

“I only left to buy food. I got hungry while waiting,” Jungkook explained while holding out a plastic of food from a convenience store as he went over to her. “Do you want some?”

Yuna shook her head. She was rendered speechless. She never knew confronting him in reality could be this nerve-wracking.

“You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” Jungkook commented before taking a seat beside her, only a few inches away. “Or is it because I look too handsome tonight?”

Yuna blinked, silence still overcoming her confidence.

“Aren’t you going to say anything? Do you want me to talk first, then?”

Again, she could only flicker her eyelids without saying a word.

“Okay. I’ll go first since it’s what you want.”

Jungkook averted his gaze and went on to looking at the river in front of them. He thought that looking at Yuna while talking would probably cause him to stammer or worse, run out of words. That’s why he decided he’ll talk to the river for now.

“First off, I wanted to apologize for calling you out this late at night but I just couldn’t help it. I couldn’t just stay still at home while my mind is going crazy at the thought of not getting to talk to you at an instant. You’re probably studying when I texted and yet you came all the way here. So, for that, I also would like to thank you. You even broke a shoe on the way here.”

Jungkook stopped for a moment to look at Yuna who was also focusing on the view before them rather than eyeing him. He cleared his throat and continued.

“Anyway, you undoubtedly know what I wanted to talk about. I mean it’s pretty obvious. It’s apparent that I wanted to talk about what I found out just this afternoon. I wanted to hear your side before I tell you mine but since you’ve gone mute as of the moment, I guess I have no choice but to speak first.”

Jungkook went silent for a minute as he prepared himself to whatever he was going to say. He already had everything planned before he got here but it seemed like everything faded at the moment. But with a desperate feeling, he let out a deep sigh before proceeding, ready or not.

“You’re probably wondering how I’m feeling after what happened. Well, to tell you, I was shocked and mad at first. I even hurt my fist after punching the floor in frustration.” He showed his hand to prove his point. “It’s quite understandable for me to act that way, right? I mean I have not only been lied to by you but to my friends as well. It turned out Yugyeom and Taehyung-hyung knew all along but kept silent thinking it would be fun.”

Yuna looked at Jungkook in surprise. She never knew the two knew.

Jungkook returned her gaze with a smile. “They’re probably coming up with ways on how to apologize right now. Well, going back to the topic about us, I know you might find me weird or what but I’d like to tell you one thing so listen carefully.”

Jungkook held his stare with Yuna, who was nervously anticipating, in all seriousness before he proceeded with his statement.

“I did not regret everything. I did not regret exchanging notes with you. I did not regret coming up to ask you for help. I did not regret spending time with you. I did not regret befriending you. I did not regret opening myself up to you. And weird and random as it might sound, I also did not regret kissing you that time at the hallway.”

Yuna’s lips formed a small ‘o’ as she took in what Jungkook was saying. In all honesty, she clearly has no idea of how to react or what to say. She could only watch, agape.

Jungkook chuckled and rubbed the back of his head as he broke their eye contact and a hint of red beginning to adorn his face. “Ah, don’t mind what I just said. I just had to say it. You don’t need to answer.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Huh?” This time, it was Jungkook’s turn to be caught in surprise at the sudden reply. He never expected Yuna to speak up. Heck, he imagined himself to be the only one blabbering throughout this meeting. It seems he was wrong.

“I said I’m sorry. I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. I swear. I thought it was the best thing to do when the truth is I was only forcing myself to keep it to myself out of selfishness. After realizing how troublesome it would get if you knew it was me, I cowered. I didn’t want to be held responsible for that different and positive feelings you said you had through the notes. I didn’t want to get involved with you further because I was scared. I even dragged poor Tzuyu into my problem to deceive you. I’m sorry.”

Yuna lowered her head to avoid eye contact with Jungkook who was staring intensely at her, taking her every word sincerely.

“Hey,” he called out but she remained in her position.

“I don’t deserve to show my face to you anymore.”

“Hey,” he repeated in hope that she’ll finally look up. Unfortunately for him, Yuna was stubborn and continued to face the ground.

“You shouldn’t even want me as your friend anymore. I’m horrible.”

“Who says I want to be your friend?” he questioned, finally discovering his chance.

The unexpected question caught Yuna off guard which made her look up to Jungkook with a puzzled look. Of course, she admits she shouldn’t be his friend but for him to agree was…odd?

“What?” she asked.

“Who says I want to be your friend?” Jungkook repeated, his face unreadable making Yuna even confused.

“I-”

Yuna was supposed to react only to be silenced by the feel of Jungkook’s lips on her own. It was warm and soft and it felt…right?

“What was that? Do I like the kiss?”

Jungkook broke away after the short kiss with a huge grin on his face.

“What was that for?!” Yuna shrieked as she covered her lips with her hands, pretending to get mad when at the back of her mind, she was feeling quite the opposite.

“Google suggested I do that to the person I like,” Jungkook answered a matter-of-factly while waving his phone to her face.

“What?!”

“Well, to tell you honestly, I have been so annoyed by how I always look for you every time even at home so I decided to consult Mr. Google for it and you know what he told me?”

“To kiss the person?”

Jungkook nodded. “Not only that. He told me I probably liked the person and the kiss was only one way to express it. So, yeah. That’s what happened.”

Yuna gave a mean look at Jungkook to feign annoyance. “You can’t trust everything on the Internet, Mr. Jeon.”

Jungkook shrugged before lying down on the ground and looking up to meet Yuna’s eyes with his. “Too late…I already decided.”

“Decided on what?”

“On how I’m going to treat you.”

“And that is?”

“Kiss me and I’ll tell you,” he teased while puckering his lips for her only to be responded with a strong smack on the face. “What was that for?!”

“Stop joking around.”

“I’m not. I’m really going to tell in exchange for a kiss.”

Another hit was received by Jungkook before Yuna opted to also lie down. “I thought you were still angry,” she stated while looking up at the sky. The stars were no longer those glow-in-the-dark stickers. This time, they were real. And no longer was Jungkook in her head alone. This time, he was actually there, beside her, and he was not mad.

“I’m not. I am forgiving after all.”

“I find that hard to believe considering your stuck-up attitude.”

“Only for you.”

Yuna diverted her gaze from the sky toward Jungkook who was unexpectedly also looking at her, their faces just a few inches apart that they could already feel each other’s breathing.

“I can be different in a good way for you…only you.”

Even though it pains me, I have to accept the reality that this is the last chapter for this story. Writing the first chapter just feels like yesterday. I can't believe it's already the end and I can't believe I was able to write a chapter this long T^T  Anyway, to all who supported me in this story and to all who showed their love for 'Only You', I would like to give all of you a big THANK YOU and a big virtual hug. *hugs screen* This story was complete because of you, readers. I never would have gained the courage to finish this story if it weren't for all of you who kept on motivating me. :) Everything has been such a great experience. I really appreciate it all. So, as a way of showing my gratitude, I'm preparing ang Epilogue for this one which will be out by tomorrow or by Monday. Please do wait for it and I hope you liked the ending. I had fun writing it and I honestly thought the last parts were cute. I even imagined it to be real while I typed. Haha. Anyway, let me knoe your thoughts. This is LemonLimeCheeseCake, logging out. 'Til next time! :)

P.S.

See what I did there? I inserted my username in the story. HAHAHA!

You know what, I finished reading this in one sitting. I really loved your story. It was simple, no huge backgrounds, no very deep plots, but overall, it was very entertaining. I love Yuju's personality in this since I am a huge fan of sarcastic and feisty characters. Jungkook is one sly and smooth boy but sometimes I can't help it but laugh at his naivety/stupidity.

anyways, one of my fave parts was when you inserted an implied TaeRin moment at the cafe. I'm a TaeRin shipper so I highly appreciated that.

Thank you for this story, author-nim~

Chapter 16: Well, it's done. A piece of me broke inside, but it was inevitable. This chapter was super fluffy and I really love how open Jungkook was about his feelings and how shy Yuna was. It was a great ending to a great fanfic.
I support your upcoming fics wholeheartedly!

Chapter 15: I love the ending. So many cute things in this chapter , Yerin Taehyung, and your username too, lol. And I love how Jungkook handled the truth, he spoke his feeling first (and can I say a kind of confession) instead of demanding explaination from Yuna. He forgives Yuna easily, since he realize that he fell for her and I guess because Yuna's singing can make everything forgiven haha...
And last I just so adore Yuju Eunha friendship here, I laughed imagined Eunha dragged frozen Yuna to kitchen and hide, such a efforts to save your friend.
Anyway thank you for writing this adorable fanfic of Yuju and Jungkook. Actually I cant get enough of this, but I curious how this end. The Epilogue will so welcome :)
