Boy Problems#7: Selfish
Jihoon sits alone on the campus benches. It’s drizzling with light showers and the shorter has forgotten his umbrella – blame the fact that he never actually bothers checking the weather in the mornings.
He ends classes midday and he can only wait until the weather lets up, he really despises walking in the rain.
“Jihoon?”
The younger jolts at the sound of his name, ripping his gaze off the wet grass, he looks to the side and freezes. He recognises the gentle voice and kind smile.
Jeonghan stands there smiling at him, an umbrella in one hand and his folders in the other. Jihoon takes in the neat and organised look before he begins to compare himself with the older.
No wonder Seungcheol wanted Jeonghan – Jihoon can’t help but think, and he’s too busy in his thoughts to even realise Jeonghan is talking to him.
“…Jihoon?” Jeonghan’s uncertain tone finally breaks his thoughts and Jihoon whips his head to the side.
He gives a weak smile. “Sorry, I didn’t catch that. Come again?”
“Oh,” Jeonghan manages before he gestures to the space beside him. Jihoon wants him to leave but he can’t do that just because his crush just happens to like him more than his best friend so he nods, a little stiff when Jeonghan takes the seat.
Jeonghan begins small talk. “So, are you done with classes? Who are you waiting for?”
“I’m just waiting for the rain to go so I can go to work.” Jihoon stares at the grey clouds and sighs. The rain seems to grow heavier each minute and he feels anxious – should he just make a run for it?
“Jihoon, I want to talk with you.” Jihoon is taken aback by the seriousness in Jeonghan’s voice and he feels tense. His heart seems to be beating fast from the uneasiness that’s gnawing him up.
Jihoon plasters a quick smile. “Y-Yeah?”
“It’s about Seungcheol,” Jeonghan says quietly and Jihoon holds his breath. He’s not surprised but he really wishes that he just ran earlier – he doesn’t want to talk with him about Seungcheol. It’s only going to hurt him more.
“Really?” Jihoon manages, “What about Seungcheol?”
“You’ve been ignoring him,” Jeonghan points out the obvious and Jihoon bites back a remark. He really wonders if Jeonghan knows that he’s the reason why this situation began. Jihoon rethinks his last thought- he can’t keep pushing the blame on Jeonghan, that’s just unfair. It’s partly Jihoon
