Class Reunion

Where Are You Now (that I need you)?

It has been one heaven of a week. That’s what Sehun had felt for the last few days spent in China. Luhan was so ecstatic when they went to some of the tourist attractions Beijing had to offer and Sehun could really feel that he fell deeper for the girl even when he thought he had fallen too hard. Sehun is thankful that he purposely extended his day-off because seeing Luhan so happy like this is worth everything.

And unfortunately their trip was cut short. A certain someone wants to meet them by the end of the month, a powerful someone that could turn South Korean’s economy upside down with a snap of his fingers.

Yes, Oh Janghyuk had heard about the incident in Shanghai and demanded asked them to meet up for a family dinner as soon as possible. Sehun’s dad is one of the most influential businessmen in the world and he’s sort of pissed that his only son didn’t tell him about his current relationship status beforehand.

Sehun knew this is going to happen and sooner or later the confrontation will come. Fortunately the Oh household is a small family without many relatives so things would be easier to explain. So he will do anything to push the date and let Luhan prepare herself, both mentally and physically. Why so? His stepmother of course would be there to see both of them and you don’t know what she has up her sleeves.

After arriving in Seoul, Luhan’s mood instantly dropped.
It’s not because she’s scared of facing Sehun’s father in less than two weeks time but rather annoyed at the fact that she’ll need to attend the high school reunion. One way or another, Jinyoung managed to get Luhan’s phone number and kept on sending her messages that she should come or he’ll take her himself. Luhan would rather go on her own than risking the chances of Sehun finding out about her troubled past.

It’s the day of reunion, it’s a Saturday night and Luhan feels like her bones are aching.
You see, when you have bad memories from the past and you are forced to recall it, it gets pretty painful and mentally draining. Luhan looks at the reflection on the mirror, examining herself from top to toe for the umpteenth time and took a deep sigh.

Her long honey brown hair is now let loose, reaching just below her chest and slightly curled at the edge just for the sake of looking presentable in front of her former classmates. Clad in simple black mini-dress and a coat, Luhan thinks she’s fit to go. The only problem right now is to avoid Sehun. This is Oh Sehun’s mansion and he could be practically anywhere. The guy is probably watching the rerun of ‘Gravity Falls’ or those cartoons in his room and Luhan hopes she’s correct.

Descending the grand staircase quietly, Luhan clutched the purse in her hand to avoid making any noise and tip-toed down with stealth. She was nearing the end of the flight of stairs when a figure walked out from the kitchen with a huge bag of popcorn and 3 soda cans in his arms.

“Where are you going?”

And Luhan thinks she ran out of luck as Sehun approached her like a curious pup.

“Oh hi Sehun, didn’t see you there… what are you doing?”

“I’m gonna watch a marathon of Mission Impossible so I guess I’ll need the food supply. Could you please answer my question?

Luhan smiled anxiously, “I’m going to meet… my friends.”

“Kyungsoo?” Sehun raised an eyebrow.

Luhan knew not telling the truth would create a strain to the trust they had build towards each other so lying to Sehun is a big no. Besides, the guy is a freaking lie detector. He will know if there’s an untrue word.

“I’m going to a class reunion. It’s in a restaurant somewhere I can’t remember it’s probably a twenty minutes drive from here so you don’t need to worry.”

There’s a tiny part of Sehun that seemed unsure but he can see the look in her eyes, the plea. Luhan’s eyes were calm but the uncertainty was there as if it was screaming ‘please don’t come along’. Being friends for the last few years, it’s quite easy to read Luhan’s expressions now.

“Oh, I was just wondering if you wanted me to drive you there.”

Luhan relieved a breath she had been holding, “it’s alright. I can take the bus. I will call you once I get there. I won’t cause any trouble so relax.”

Sehun forced himself to smile a bit. “If someone is following you, you should call me alright? And activate the GPS tracking on your phone in case anything happens.”

The girl nodded, replying Sehun with a goofy smile and headed to the front door without a word. Well, at least Sehun won’t know about her horrible past after all. Slipping on a pair of black pumps, Luhan headed out after waving goodbye to the said male.

---

‘The Star’

Luhan had heard from Kyungsoo that this restaurant is probably one of the best in the city with renowned chefs from many parts of the world, serving and creating exquisite dishes and cuisines here. And the girl never thought that her class reunion will be held in a 4-star restaurant a few blocks away from her working place, just great.

With a huff, Luhan decided to enter the place and get this done with.

As expected, the place was gorgeous. Typical dim orange lights and round tables for two are arranged neatly in the main dining area. The waiters and waitresses wore tux and dresses, giving off the formal vibe. A clerk came over to Luhan with a professional smile on his lips.

“Do you have any reservations, miss?”

“Uhm no. But I think my friends did. It’s a gathering and perhaps the place would be enclosed.”

“Ah yes, can I have your name miss?”

“Luhan,” she replied with a polite smile.

The male clerk seemed surprised but nodded nonetheless. He checked the paper he was holding and confirmed that Luhan was indeed one of the participants by the list he was given because not all people are allowed to be there.

“Please follow me,” the clerk said while leading the way to the inner part of the area where private rooms are located.

Once the door to room number 4 was pushed open, Luhan held her breath.

There was a long table in the room, a chandelier hanging on the ceiling with classical design to the walls. Familiar faces crowd the area and suddenly it feels like high school all over again with the usual rowdiness. And just a reminder, Luhan hates high school.

“Oh my gosh, is that Luhan?!” a person shrieked.

Luhan snapped from her trance and finally noticed that everyone was now looking at her, stopping whatever they were doing just to stare. This was how Luhan’s first day at school looks like with everyone blatantly and shamelessly staring at her. But this time, Luhan know she won’t need to be scared of them anymore.

I got a new life and new friends now and no one is going to do any harm to me… right?

“You’re so pretty!” a woman with red lipsticks came over to give Luhan a hug out of the blue. The girl couldn’t even remember the name of the lady giving her the embrace.

“Thank you, you look gorgeous yourself,” Luhan said with her practiced smile, breaking the hug to stare at the woman.

“You’d be blind if you don’t think so,” she replied with a smirk before turning around. Luhan still can’t remember who the hell she was. Probably one of the cheerleader squad member looking by the way she acts.

And the rowdiness starts again as Luhan was ushered to her own seat. To her surprise, most of the people are not from her class.

“Hi my name is  Jeon Heeyong. You must be Luhan,” a girl with black hair approached, offering her hand. Luhan was too polite to reject and ended up shaking hands with Heeyong. Putting formality on top of everything, Luhan stood up and faced the other girl.

“I’m sorry but this is my first time in a reunion so I tend to forgot names and…”

Heeyong chuckled heartily at Luhan and offered a smile that resembles an ugly smirk. “Of course you don’t know me, sweetheart. I’m not in your class and I didn’t attend the same school. I’m Jinyoung’s girlfriend by the way and this reunion is about taking your partners with you. Looks like you came here alone…”

That was not what Luhan expected.

Not seconds later, Yoon Jinyoung appeared and s his arms around Heeyong’s waist from the back. Luhan tried her best to muster her expression at the sudden display.

“I guess both of you know each other already,” Jinyoung said to his girlfriend while she nodded. The man then averted his attention to Luhan.

“Luhan I totally forgot to tell you!” Jinyoung started with a fake surprised face. “All of us agreed to bring our lovers here for the gathering and I forgot to tell you about it, how careless of me.”

Some things never change… Jinyoung would always be a bully no matter what.

“It’s fine,” the Chinese girl replied, throat feeling dry as hell. She can’t believe that this guy is the person she fell in love with for the first time in her entire life. That was one huge mistake.

“But it doesn’t matter right? You’re still single so I guess it won’t be a problem then.” Jinyoung stated with a grin as if he hadn’t just hurt someone’s feelings.

When Jinyoung left to chat with other friends, Heeyong stuck around longer. “You see, I heard that you have a crush on my man.”

Luhan stared at her with annoyance.

“I don’t how you get the information but please know that I have no interest in him.”

Heeyong stepped closer and glared at Luhan. She crossed her arms to show her authority. “I don’t care about any of that. I’m warning you, . Take my Jinyoung away and you’ll be dealing with me. Girls like you will try everything to seduce men and I’m not going to let you stay around Jinyoung. You don’t know how much power I have.”

But Luhan indeed know just how much power Jeon Heeyong posses. And that power is merely only 0.003 percent of what Oh Sehun is capable of, not even one percent. Heeyong’s dad owns a company in Daegu but not big enough to have people know its name. So Luhan doesn’t give any to the empty threat. Perks of being a secretary is knowing others’ assets.

It was true that Luhan is not interested in Jinyoung, well at least not anymore.

The whole class knew that Luhan used to have a crush on Yoon Jinyoung during her high school days. That was when one of them stole the girl’s diary and read it out loud for everyone to hear. The guy became too cocky for his own good and Luhan’s first love experience ended just like that with people mocking her every time of the day about her feelings. Besides, she got bullied even more just because of her feelings. Luhan prefers not to recall the blackmail and death messages stranded in her locker after that incident.

Thankfully it was soon time for dinner and Luhan decided to sit back down to her own seat and occupy herself with the food while everyone else was still busy catching up. Some were trying to bluff about their current job and wealth, some were too proud about their jet-set lifestyle.

“You’ve gotten prettier, Luhan.”

The said girl looked up from her vegetable and faced her so-called friends. She was about to reply with common answer of ‘Thank you and you too’ before one of them continued with a smirk. “Did you get plastic surgery? I bet you do.”

“This is my natural face, I’m too scared of knives and doctors to get my face done.”

A few of them nodded. “So how’s life, Luhan?”

“Ah, its fine I guess. The job pay is good and I can still survive.”

“That’s not what we meant. Where do you work, your boyfriend, the place you’re staying and those stuffs,” a buff guy in suits demanded.

“I work in Oh Corp right now,” Luhan mumbled uneasily, seeing their expression changed almost immediately.

“What is your position?”

Luhan mumbled tiredly, “…Secretary.”

“I thought you’d have higher position though. I heard you graduated from the national university with flying scores, never thought you’ll have such a low position. Just a mere secretary. I thought you would at least be an accountant or something. But anyway, next question, where do you live?”

“I used to stay at an apartment but moved out just recently. Nothing extravagant is going in my life.” Luhan replied while gritting her teeth. Fingers digging her palm in a manner, trying to hold her anger and disappointment.

“How about boyfriend? Love interest? Anything romance?” a girl sitting next to her asked.

“I…”
Luhan wasn’t even done explaining when the girl cut her mid-sentence.

“But seeing that you came alone, you’re probably still single. Maybe you’re too old to find someone. I mean, you are in mid-twenty and people nowadays are looking for younger ones.”

Luhan just nodded to finish the topic. The questions thrown to her were like bulldozers and the snide remarks are always more painful.

“How’s your parents? Are they still healthy?” one of them inquired.

Luhan was silent.

“Hahahahaha I forgot that you’re an orphan, silly me.”
And the people around them laughed along loudly, finding the offensive comment funny.

This time it really hurts.

Luhan felt her eyes pricking with tears but willed herself not to cry in front of the people who only want to see her fall. So she held the edge of her dress and bit her lips. Suddenly Luhan’s vision turned pitch black as a warm hands covered both of her eyes from behind. The timing was just right as tears are gathering in her eyes real quick and nobody needs to see it. The whole room turned eerily silent and there were no movement.

“Can you guess who this is?” A low voice asked softly.

And as if the time bomb exploded, Luhan burst out in tears when she heard the voice. She didn’t spend any more time to identify the person, stood up from her seat and hugged the tall man standing right behind her chair.

Everybody else was already murmuring between themselves at the unexpected guest.

“I’m here,” Sehun whispered comfortingly while wrapping his long arms around her waist. Luhan was clinging desperately, throwing her hands over the man’s shoulder for support. She rested her head on the male’s broad shoulder and let herself relax in the male’s embrace. Oh Sehun knows how to be a knight in shining armor huh?

“Sorry to interrupt, I will take her out for a moment.” Sehun said with a charming smile that made half the room swoon and the other half envious.

Once out of the door with Luhan in tow, Sehun cupped her rosy cheeks and stare at her eyes. The tears had calmed down a bit but the hiccup had just started. “What happened?”

“They were being their usual, arrogant self. And I guess I’m not ready for it, just tired from answering nonsense questions.” The girl managed to utter between hiccups.

“I should have come with you,” Sehun blamed himself for this. If he’s there in the first place, nothing will go wrong and Luhan wouldn’t be so miserable.

“It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have come and I was the one who asked you to stay away… I just didn’t want you to get involved.” Luhan replied with a slight smile, wiping tears from her cheeks. Sehun took her hands and held it as if his life depends on it.

Sehun offered a smile, squeezing the small hand in his. “Let’s get inside for now. You don’t need to worry about a single thing and let me do all the talking while you just need to nod along. After all of this is done, we’ll go home and watch movies together. How’s that?”

“Sounds great,” Luhan whispered, feeling the familiar jittery feeling in her stomach for the thousandth time she saw that boyish smile. “Lead the way, captain.”

Hand in hand, Sehun opened the door and let Luhan enter first. The room immediately went quiet at the duo’s appearance, eyes trained on the intertwined fingers and back again at their faces. Some were already standing up from their seats, ready to welcome the surprise guest.

“What a pleasure to have Oh Sehun’s here.” one of them said respectfully, offering a handshake. This guy seemed to work in the same industry and know what important role Sehun holds.

“I came just to make sure someone is having some fun,” Sehun replied while giving a reassuring glance to the girl beside him. The guests seemed intrigued by the interactions going on as Sehun shook hands with gratitude.

Jinyoung moved forward to meet face-to-face with the well-known CEO with a smirk. “I heard you work in a big company but I don’t know much about it but I guess it’s nothing big.”

With a quirk of his lips, Sehun replied calmly. “It’s nothing big just like you said. My job in Oh Corp involves giving signatures on reports and attend boring meetings on other occasions. Not much of a big deal actually.”

The look on Jinyoung’s face was priceless as his jaws hardened by Sehun’s answer. And the young Oh continued with his answer. “Working alone without anyone accompanying you in your private room is quite stressful too. Don’t think that being a CEO is easy.”

Almost everyone knew who Oh Sehun is and Yoon Jinyoung had just dug his own grave by trying to put shame on the man. And Sehun will not stop until everyone shut their mouths and finally stop bothering his precious Luhan. After short introduction that is pretty unnecessary, everyone quickly accepted Sehun into the event and drown him with various questions, mostly regarding him and Luhan’s relationship.

“Do you often meet Luhan in the Oh Corp building?”

Sehun chuckled lightheartedly, “Of course I do. She’s my personal assistant and secretary. It’s in her job to take care of me.”

The awed expression was immediately thrown to Luhan. Now people finally look up at the said girl for being a secretary to the respectable Oh Sehun and not just for anyone.

“I don’t mean to intrude or impose on anything but what relationship do you guys have? It’s not really a boss’ nature to make sure his employee is fine or not. And besides, I heard Luhan doesn’t have a boyfriend that means both of you are not in a romantic relationship. So what are you guys?” Heeyong shot from the end of the table and caused everyone to stop talking.

Sehun knew this question will come but fret not as he had thought of it beforehand. With a blinding grin he answered, “You do have a point there. I shouldn’t be that interested in her life whatsoever but I can’t help it. And to is true that Luhan doesn’t have a boyfriend right now but she does have a fiancé. And that lucky guy happened to be me.”

Cue everyone's surprised gasps and widening eyes. That kinda includes Luhan too.
