"You don't smile much, do you?" You asked, mindlessly sketching in your sketchbook as I finished off the last few paragraphs for our project.

I shrugged, "There's not much to smile about."

"Sure there is,"  you said with a nod, "everything's worth smiling about."

I didn't answer for a moment, staring blankly down at my fingers.

"Hey, Jiyong, what'd you get for question four?" Bom whispered, leaning closer to me from where she sat.

She smelled like vanilla; vanilla with accents of strong cinnamon. I didn't look up, shrugging.

"What about question five?" she asked persistently.

I shrugged again.

I huffed in annoyance, sparing a glance at her worksheet to find it completely filled in.

"You already know all of the answers so why are you bothering me?" I spat out accusingly.

"Because," she said with a small sigh before leaning back into her seat, "I want to talk to you."

"Why?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, "Why would anyone want to talk to me? I'm boring. I'm screwed up. I'm not worth talking to."

"Yes you are," she said with a nod of reassurance, "You're not boring, you're not screwed up, and you're definitely worth talking to."
