Murder 10
Here Lies the Bride"You let him go? I can't believe you'd do that again! I.. I can't bear to be with you anymore!" Vernon's eyes filled with tears, his tone sharp and accusing. Hanging your head low, you bit your lip. "Every. Single. Time. They leave, and you let them go! I.. cared so much for them, and I thought you did too!" Slumping on the bed, Vernon covered his face with his hands. Wonwoo reached out and held your hand. Pushing him away, you left the room. I'll survive on my own, anyway. Disappearing down the corridor before either Wonwoo or Vernon could react fast enough, your head was held high.
You locked yourself in a room nearby, just in case.
Just in case they'd need you soon.
"I.. I didn't mean to chase her away." Vernon began to sob harder. Wonwoo had locked the room's door, and tried to hush Vernon. "It's better if no one knows we're here. Stay quiet for now, I know she'll come back soon." Wonwoo wrapped Vernon up in the bed's blankets, and patted his head.
He could only hope you were alright.
A rough knock was heard on the door, "Please, please! Open!" Wonwoo jolted out of bed and checked through the peephole. Jun? He's.. alive? Wonwoo didn't hesitate to open the door for his good friend, and yanked him in. Closing the door behind him, and locking it, Wonwoo covered Jun's mouth. Jun's heart slowly began to return to beating at its normal pace, and his breaths were no longer as heavy as before.
"I won't touch Vernon and Wonwoo, and you know that." A familiar voice could be heard from outside, fading away with the footsteps. Wonwoo heaved a sigh of relief and let go of Jun. "They.. They were after me, Wonwoo." Jun's eyes were filled with fear, and he wrapped his arms himself. "They think I did it. They think I killed my own bride, but I, I have proof it was not me." A crushed paper ball was dropped from Jun's hand and rolled onto the floor.
Wonwoo sat down, and opened the crushed white ball.
"I'm going to assume you'll find out who I am soon.. So I have written this letter. Does it instill fear in you, yet? Always remember, I was once by your side. For all of you who have betrayed me, abandoned me, even after some of you knew the truth, you will pay. Pay, in your own blood. No one will be spared, not even the bride herself!"
Written in black and red ink, the words left a mark in Wonwoo's heart. How could someone.. have hurt the killer? The fourteen of them, excluding the bride, were always a tightly knit group. He couldn't think of the time where they were ever apart, the group was inseparable. More than anything, how could he trust anyone now?
The killer was one of his friends.
Jun was munching on some food you had brought back earlier. Wonwoo was smiling to himself, glad to have one of his best friends back. "Speaking of which, have you seen Mingyu at all? I haven't seen him since he disappeared.." Jun couldn't meet Wonwoo's gaze. "You mean.. you have no clue?"
"What do you mean, hyung?"
"Wonwoo.. I'll say it in the most straightforward way possible." Jun inhaled deeply, before giving Wonwoo his answer.
"Mingyu's dead."
He felt his heart shatter into a million pieces.
His best friend, dead?
Just hours before, the girl who he had slowly started to depend on, the girl he slowly started to trust with his entire heart during this horrible time, and as he now learned through Jun's words that followed after, the girl who kept Mingyu's death a secret from him. His fists were clenched, and his face contorted into an expression of rage. "I trusted her, and she didn't tell me Mingyu died?!" Wonwoo threw a can of food on the floor in utter and blind rage. Jun held him by his shoulders and shook him.
"Do you think it would have been any better if she told you? What would you have done? Run after whoever killed him blindly, and straight into your own death trap? It was for your own good that she and Seungkwan kept it a secret from you." Jun glared at Wonwoo, who slumped against and slid down the nearest wall. Of course Jun was right. What good was this news anyway?
He had to find her. Before it was too late. Shaking Vernon up in a hurried frenzy, Wonwoo yanked the younger out the room and they began the desperate search for the girl.
The corners of Jun's mouth turned up in a smile. Maybe he lost his own love, but in a world full of death, perhaps Wonwoo could find his own? Leaving the room, and shaking his head, he decided to go back to being alone. It was too dangerous for them anyway.
"Seungcheol, Choi Seungcheol!" A figure started shaking the bloodied body lying on the floor. He'd only left Seungcheol alone for five minutes so he could get them some water, but came back only to be greeted by the sight of his friend's dead body. Stab wounds were more than visible, pooling with blood. It was obvious to the sobbing man that Seungcheol had been taken by surprised and stabbed. He was too strong to have not fought back.
"Who.. who dared to do this! I swear, I'll get my revenge. I'll avenge you. All of you."
Murder 10: Choi Seungcheol
[A/N: I've started using these line things which I hope can help distinguish who's doing what and where they are, who they're with. (or at least make it easier to) As usual, keep the guesses coming, there aren't many chapters left! I'll be more busy with school now that the term's started again, so no promises on quick updates anymore. :---(
Also, if you have any questions on my thought process and how I wrote this story, comment those down too! I'll be releasing a Q&A (winkwink) chapter to answer some (if any) of your questions!
To everyone who is super confused, go read Der Marchenclub by pinboo. That'll (somewhat) help you guess the killer maybe? :)
Questions for this chapter:
Who killed Seungcheol?
Who's next?
You decide. (okay this one is a joke. Comment down if you get the reference!)]
