A/N: And here is the next update at last.

First of all, I know that I owe you guys an apology. I said in my last update this story will be finished before 2019 started. I meant to write during the last week of December, but I was sick from before Christmas until New Year. Can you believe it—I haven’t been sick for years, and when I did get sick again, it was during the Christmas-New Year week! I was even stuck in bed during Christmas day! -_- That was quite a bummer. And that was also why I didn’t get to finish the story in time and why I didn’t even get to wish you guys happy holidays.

Well, anyway, enough of my rambling. It’s Kyuhyun’s birthday today, so there definitely has to be an update for this story. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KYUHYUN! <3

Book 4: Blast from the Past

Chapter 12: Hanchul

Changmin woke up due to a stabbing pain on his side.

“Ow!” he moaned in pain as he opened his eyes and lifted his head to see what had caused the unexpected and unwelcome pain. Minhyun was now lying horizontally across the bed, his head on Kyuhyun’s stomach and one of his feet digging into Changmin’s side.

“I see you’ve gotten your morning initiation.”

Changmin glanced at Kyuhyun to see the Super Junior evil maknae smirking sleepily but evilly at him.

“Is this he how he normally sleeps?” Changmin gestured helplessly at the sound asleep little boy.

“Yeah, though his limbs are typically twisted into other positions. Minhyunnie ends up in the oddest sleeping positions.”

His parents’ conversation must be disturbing the little boy’s sleep, because Minhyun grumbled a little and tried to get more comfortable, burrowing his head deeper into Kyuhyun’s stomach… and his foot deeper into Changmin’s side.

Changmin grimaced.

“How come you get the head while I get stuck with the foot?” Changmin complained at the injustice.

Kyuhyun, on the other hand, laughed (as quietly as he could, so as not to wake their son) at the injustice. “I’ve gotten my share of waking up in the morning due to various parts of my body being hit by various limbs of Minhyun. It’s high time for you to take your share,” the Super Junior evil maknae smirked as he Minhyun’s hair.

“Great,” Changmin sighed. However, even as he winced as Minhyun’s foot went ever deeper into his side, Changmin was happy to take his share of being woken up like this. Since it meant that he was with his son and his beloved.

Just then, the door burst open, and the two idiotic hyungs who already had the nerve stupidity to enter the maknaes’ room so recklessly still had the gall to shout loudly, “RISE AND SHINE, EVIL MAKNAES!”

These two idiotic hyungs were also known as Eunhyuk and Donghae.

But these two idiotic hyungs can also be known as two idiotic soon-to-be-dead-through-painful-and-torturous-ways hyungs, judging from the looks that the evil maknaes were sending to them.

Before Kyuhyun or Changmin could lunge for the two idiots, though, a small but deadly voice suddenly asked, “Who woke me up?”

And Eunhyuk and Donghae watched in horror as Minhyun got up from where he was lying (Changmin let out a mental sigh of relief as the foot was finally removed from his side) and kneeled up instead, yawned like a cute little hippo, rubbed his eyes sleepily, and glared at his two idiotic uncles with such piercing eyes that the two in question felt as though their skins were being burned by hellfire.

“HE DID IT!” Eunhyuk and Donghae immediately cried out, pointing at each other.

Minhyun looked suspiciously at both of them. He couldn’t quite easily identify who the culprit was, though. So, the little boy decided that he’ll just have to make both of his uncles pay for it.

At this point, both Changmin and Kyuhyun had sat up and were leaning back again the bed’s headboard, enjoying the show and watching their little son scare the wits out of his two idiotic uncles. For the two evil maknaes, this was such a proud moment...

“Uncle Hyukie, Uncle Hae, you know what Uncle Hannie always says about sleep?” Minhyun asked with a falsely sweet voice.

“W-what’s that, Minhyunnie?” Eunhyuk stammered, trying and totally failing to act nonchalant about the danger that the little boy posed.

“He says that sleep is very important and sacred and must be respected and cherished,” Minhyun replied seriously.

“Uhm...” Donghae said, unsure of what to reply to the child.

“And you know what my umma says?” Minhyun continued.

Eunhyuk and Donghae were covered in cold sweat at this point.

Without waiting for his two uncles to reply, Minhyun went on. “Umma says that people who make the big mistake of crossing me must be anni-anni-“ Young as he was, he struggled with the big and complicated word.

“It’s ‘annihilated’, Minhyunnnie,” Kyuhyun chimed in helpfully. Helpful to his son’s destruction of two of his hyungs, to be exact.

“Yes, umma says that people who cross me must be annihilated. And by messing with my sleep, you cross me.” Minhyun’s eyes narrowed dangerously now. “You must be annihilated.”

Eunhyuk and Donghae both yelped, clutched onto each other, and made to back away from the room.

Minhyun started to get off the bed, keeping his eyes on the prey the whole time. His umma taught him that you must never let your prey out of your sight, and Minhyunnie was a good boy who listened to what his umma says!

However, just when it seemed like Eunhyuk and Donghae won’t be able to escape alive from Kyuhyun’s room, Hankyung appeared at the doorway. “Minhyunnie, breakfast is ready.”

That got the little boy’s attention right away. “Breakfast!” he cheered, clapping his hands together. And he made to dash out of the room, going past Eunhyuk and Donghae as though they weren’t there anymore. And really, to the little food monster, everything else faded into the background when there was food at hand.

“Saved by the bell,” Eunhyuk muttered, wiping away the cold sweat on his forehead with the back of his hand.

“Saved by Hankyung hyung,” Donghae corrected.

“Saved by Minhyun’s crazy love for food,” Hankyung corrected both of them. He had heard the commotion coming from Kyuhyun’s bedroom and thought it best to save his two dongsaengs from the evil maknaes and their equally evil son. But really, it wouldn’t have been so easy for him to save Eunhyuk and Donghae if Minhyun didn’t love food so much.

“I don’t care what you call it as long as our lives are saved,” Eunhyuk shrugged. That was the most important part, right?

While Eunhyuk and Donghae were very grateful for Hankyung’s interference, the evil maknaes were expectedly most displeased.

“Hankyung hyung!” Kyuhyun complained. “You interrupted Minhyun from killing those two idiots!”

“Yeah, we were enjoying the show, hyung,” Changmin frowned.

“We know,” Eunhyuk scowled at Changmin. Of course those two evil maknaes wanted to watch their destruction!

“You’re really determined to keep on adding to my list of reasons to kill you, huh, hyung?” Kyuhyun glared at Hankyung. As if all the Chinese man’s betrayal hadn’t been enough, Hankyung still had the gall to interrupt the show!

And with that, Hankyung gulped loudly and quickly ran out of the room. “I’m going to help Ryeowookie and Jaejoong with the food!” Not wanting to be left with the two annoyed evil maknaes, Eunhyuk and Donghae (showing an ounce of wisdom, for once) dashed out of the room as well.

“My years of being free from my hyungs’ idiocy have ended, and now I can’t even watch them get murdered?” Kyuhyun grumbled. How in the world was this fair?

“Don’t worry, we’ll get to the killing part soon enough,” Changmin promised. Those hyungs were practically asking for the wrath of the evil maknaes, after all.

“Pancakesssssss...” Minhyun moaned as Jaejoong set down a towering stack of pancakes in the middle of the table.

Sensing that Minhyun’s self-control was slipping away fast, Kyuhyun quickly forked a few pieces onto Minhyun’s plate before Minhyun could try to lunge across the table just to get to the pancakes. And Changmin poured syrup over Minhyun’s pancakes.

Minhyun grinned happily. He had pancakes! And he now had both of his umma and his appa taking care of him and feeding him! And he had pancakes! Did he already mention that he had pancakes? Well, pancakes were quite important! Having pancakes made the morning great! Pancakessss....

“Thanks, umma! Thanks, appa!” he remembered his manners before he started enthusiastically digging into his pancakesssssss.

“Yah, did you have a good night’s sleep, Minhyun?” Heechul asked from where he was seated down along the table. Kyuhyun had a decent-sized dining table, but with the many DBSK and Super Junior members, it was a tight squeeze.

Heechul’s question seemed innocent, but there was a gleam in the diva’s eyes that everyone noticed.

Minhyun did a big swallow of the pancakes in his mouth. “Yes, Uncle Chullie.”

“You liked sleeping with your umma and your appa?” Heechul continued, a smirk now on his face.

“Yes, it was great to finally sleep with both umma and appa,” Minhyun replied, his tone a bit confused. He just shrugged off his uncle’s questions and went back again to his pancakes, though.

Kyuhyun and Changmin, however, were now frowning at their hyungs.

“Speaking of that,” Kyuhyun began in a would-be calm voice. “Which of you sweet and thoughtful hyungs had that brilliant idea of getting Minhyunnie to sleep with us last night?”

The evil maknaes wanted to know which idiotic hyungs who greatly lacked in self-preservation deliberately ed them last night. More importantly, the evil maknaes wanted to know which idiotic hyungs they now needed to murder.

The hyungs all suddenly seemed quite interested in their food, keeping their eyes on their plates and eating with as much vigor as Minhyun did.

Changmin’s and Kyuhyun’s eyes narrowed even more.

“Either you give us the names of those sweet and thoughtful hyungs, or we... ‘thank’ all of you,” Changmin growled lowly. Really, the hyungs’ choices were simple: squeal out the persons responsible, or the evil maknaes will kill all of them, just to be done with it.

Scared of the evil maknaes and fearful for his life, Ryeowook was the first to break. “I saw Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Hankyung hyungs go with Yoochun and Junsu hyungs into Minhyun’s room last night!”

The five named persons shot Ryeowook looks ranging from betrayal to reproach.

“So....” Kyuhyun said quietly but dangerously, eying the five persons.

“Hey, I was only there to tell Minhyun of the idea! It wasn’t actually my idea!” Hankyung protested, desperate to save his own hide. He didn’t need more reasons for Kyuhyun to kill him, thank you! “They just made me tell Minhyun, because I’m the closest to him!”

Eunhyuk was also eager to save his life. “Hey, we may be the ones that went into Minhyun’s room, but most of the members knew and approved of the idea! Heck, even Leeteukie hyung knew!”

“Yeah, even Yunho hyung approved!” Yoochun added.

The evil maknaes gaped disbelievingly at their leaders, who were currently glaring at Eunhyuk and Yoochun.

“You know, I’d have thought that as leaders, you two would be less prone to allowing things that will result in your own members’ deaths,” Changmin pretended to shake his head at the leaders in mock disappointment.

“I only agreed to it because Boojae made me!” Yunho confessed now. Hey, he may be the leader of DBSK, but even he wasn’t above ratting out others to save his skin from the evil maknaes.

Jaejoong jabbed Yunho’s side with his elbow.

“Really, hyung?” Changmin scowled at Jaejoong.

“I had to protect your innocence, Minnie-ah!” Jaejoong told Changmin earnestly.

Most of the guys snorted into their food, but Changmin just facepalmed.

“Yeah, I had to protect my BabyKyu’s innocence as well!” Leeteuk said. Last night, he didn’t really like the idea of using Minhyun, but if it will protect his BabyKyu’s innocence, Leeteuk had been willing to do it!

Kyuhyun now joined Changmin in facepalming.

As reckless as it was, the hyungs couldn’t help snickering at the expense of their maknaes. However—

“What does protecting innocence mean, umma, appa?”

Everyone froze, and their eyes all went on the little boy, who was now eying his parents questioningly as he chewed his pancakes.

“Uh-uhhh—“ Kyuhyun stuttered.

Minhyun was now looking a bit concerned. Why was his umma flustered? His umma was never flustered! Why does the topic of “protecting innocence” make his umma flustered?

The no-good hyungs now busied themselves again with their food. Leeteuk and Jaejoong, in particular, were looking particularly guilty.

“Oh, now you two are suddenly quiet,” Changmin hissed at the two “ummas.”

“Hey, it’s the parents’ duty to explain such things, not the uncles,” Leeteuk said defensively.

“You guys are the reason he’s asking such things!”

And Minhyun’s questions kept coming. “What does ‘protecting innocence’ mean? And why are umma and appa so uncomfortable with the topic? Why is there a need to protect umma’s and appa’s innocence? Why will they lose their innocence if left together in umma’s room? And why did the uncles send me in the room so that umma and appa’s innocence will be protected? How does Minhyunnie being in the room protect their innocence?”

“How indeed,” Kyuhyun muttered, glaring at the no-good, interfering, ing hyungs.

“Umma, appa, why are you ignoring me?” Minhyun pouted as his parents just carried on looking uncomfortable and glaring at DBSK and SJ members, not bothering to answer his questions. His umma, in particular, always answered his questions before! His umma was very smart and knew everything, and he was always willing to teach Minhyunnie the things that he didn’t understand. But why wasn’t his umma answering his questions now?

Changmin decided that it was high time for a change of topic. “Minhyunnie, have you tasted Uncle Jae’s waffles? Uncle Jae makes great waffles!”

“Waffles?” Minhyun perked up, distracted from the topic by food (as usual). “What are waffles, appa? Minhyunnie’s never had waffles before!”

“You haven’t? Well, we need to fix that, don’t we?” Changmin said cheerfully, placing a large waffle on Minhyun’s plate.

Minhyun’s eyes went big. Ohhhh, so that’s a waffle! It looks delicious! And his eyes went even bigger as his father put whipped cream and chocolate syrup on it. Even more delicious! Yay!!!

As Minhyun munched on his waffle, the evil maknaes let out identical sighs of relief. Crisis averted.

After breakfast, Eunhyuk and Yoochun had to wash the dishes. They tried to protest at first, but their leaders wouldn’t listen; it was punishment for ratting out the leaders to the evil maknaes. Meanwhile, in the living room, Kyuhyun was yet again being interrogated by Leeteuk about his well-being.

“You’ve already asked me a dozen times about this yesterday, hyung!” Kyuhyun had tried to protest.

But Leeteuk wanted to be thorough when it came to his long-lost maknae’s health, so Kyuhyun had no choice but to be submitted to the interrogation yet again.

As Leeteuk carried on asking Kyuhyun about everything from his diet to if he had been sick since he had disappeared, Minhyun was sitting on his appa’s lap, with a stack of his umma’s games in his hands.

“These are some of my favorite games, appa!” Minhyun told his father excitedly.

“Really? You play with them often, then?” Changmin smiled at his son. Little conversations like this helped him get to know his son. He had four years of lost time with his son to make up.

“Yes! Umma usually trains me in video games through these games! Umma says these games require the most strategy and present a lot of blood!”

“You shouldn’t be happy about bloodshed, Minhyunnie,” Siwon, who despite being on the other side of the living room heard the conversation, shook his head in dismay.

Minhyun pouted. Gallons of flowing blood was cool! Why couldn’t his Uncle Siwonnie (and most of his uncles, really) see that? “But this game is awesome, and it has lots of flowing blood!” the little boy said, holding up one game in particular. “Also, it’s set in the Medi-Medie—“

“Medieval Ages, Minhyunnie,” Kyuhyun said, pausing from his conversation with his leader.

Minhyun nodded. “Yes, those ages. Ancient times.”

“You like the Medieval Ages, Minhyunnie?” Changmin asked, hugging his son close to him.

“Yes, appa! Whenever umma tells me stories during story time, the stories are also often during that time!”

“Stories? What stories does umma tell that are set in the Medieval Ages?” Changmin questioned curiously. Knowing his beloved, the DBSK maknae was sure that these stories were quite “interesting.”

Uh-oh. Kyuhyun knew where this was headed, and he might have furious hyungs at his hands soon if they find out about those stories. But there was nothing else that Kyuhyun could do, because Minhyun already answered his father.

“Umma often tells me stories about the great King Kyuhyun, appa!” Minhyun said happily.

Every adult in the room (apart from Kyuhyun, that is) snorted at the main character of the “stories.”

“The great King Kyuhyun? Three guesses who the main character is based on,” Shindong laughed.

“You really told your son a series of stories based on yourself?” Ryeowook shook his head at his maknae. Kyuhyun’s ego really had no limitations.

“Nothing wrong with that!” Kyuhyun quickly defended himself.

“The great King Kyuhyun’s awesome!” Minhyun insisted from where he was wrapped in his father’s arms.  “The great King Kyuhyun is so smart, and brave, and witty, and funny—“

“Still,” Heechul interrupted. “A story that’s just solely based on Kyuhyun? I think I’ll pass. Even with Kyuhyun disappearing for years, I’ve already had more than enough dealings with the evil maknae in reality. No need to hear more about him in stories, thank you.”

The hyungs all voiced out their agreement, but Minhyun told Heechul, “But it’s not just about the great King Kyuhyun! The tales also feature his servants, and it’s funny how the great King Kyuhyun tortures them!”

“Servants?” Junsu repeated curiously.

“Tortures them?” Siwon frowned.

“Yeah,” Minhyun nodded his head vigorously. “The series is actually called ‘The Tales of the Great King Kyuhyun and His Twelve Servants of the Round Table’!”

“Twelve servants?” Sungmin asked, his eyes suddenly narrowed dangerously as he caught on to that crucial number of servants. Twelve servants who are being tortured by the great King Kyuhyun? Now, why did that sound familiar? Someone tell him that Kyuhyun didn’t actually...?

“Yes, Uncle Sungminnie, and all the twelve servants have their own unique characteristics, and—“

Minhyun suddenly broke off. He looked at the Super Junior members closely. Then, he gasped loudly. “You’re them! You guys are the twelve servants!” The little boy was bouncing up and down excitedly on Changmin’s lap at this point! The servants in his favorite stories were actually based on his uncles! How cool was that?!

Unfortunately, the hyungs/“servants” didn’t think it was cool. They were all glaring at Kyuhyun as Minhyun went on with his rambling, looking at his Super Junior uncles with a mixture of curiosity and excitement.

He started pointing at his uncles one by one. His Uncle Teukie was the leader and the oldest, so that meant—

“You’re the oldest servant—the grandpa servant, Uncle Teukie!” he cried out excitedly as Leeteuk’s face turned red with anger at his BabyKyu’s “stories.”

And Heechul, with his “awesome” attitude can only be— “The diva servant!”

“And Uncle Hannie is the foreign servant!” Minhyun then eyed his Chinese uncle.

Minhyun had noticed that Yesung had weird habits during the short time that he’s known this uncle. “You’re the weird servant! Who also loves turtles! You’ve mentioned that you have a turtle, haven’t you, Uncle Yesungie?”
