A/N: Hi, guys! Here’s the next update! Yeah, fast updates right now, as I’m trying to rush Book 3 before the year ends.

Also, double update today! Two short chapters! There’s another chapter after this one that I posted today!

Let’s all enjoy the bonding moments between Kyu and Minhyunnie in Book 3. Because in Book 4, well... all the “complexities” will be back, to say the least.

Book 3: The (Crazier) Toddler Years

Chapter 8: Cookie

“Umma, can you make me cookies?”

Kyuhyun looked up from his plans for the latest “improvement” in the town and winced. He had looked straight into the (purposely!, Kyuhyun was sure) big and round doe eyes of his son.

Minhyun had a knack for pleading with his eyes. Quite effectively.

“Not right now, Minhyunnie,” Kyuhyun replied as he went back to the plans. “Umma is working.”

And there’s also the fact that Kyuhyun had no cooking and/or baking skills whatsoever. Of course, he’d never tell that straight out to his son, though.

“But umma, the cookies that Uncle Hannie brought from his last visit are already gone.”

The big eyes were now accompanied by a pout.

Kyuhyun knew that pout! He was totally the one that taught Minhyun how to do that! This so wasn’t fair!

“I’ll make him bring more when he visits again.”

“But I’m hungry now.”

Puffed-up cheeks now joined forces with the big eyes and the pout.

His son was trying to manipulate him!

Kyuhyun, being the evil maknae that he was, was definitely proud that his son was good at manipulating. But he also couldn’t help but wonder if this was what his Super Junior hyungs felt when he tried to manipulate them to bend to his will in the past.

The evil maknae gave a sigh of resignation and rolled up his plans. Looks like there was no way he was going to finish these plans now... “Alright, umma will go to the store and buy cookies for you.”

Kyuhyun totally didn’t expect his son to shake his head vehemently in refusal, but that was the response that the evil maknae got.

“Nooo. Not store-bought, umma! I want quality, homemade cookies this time!”

And that was definitely Minhyun’s father’s preference for “good food” manifesting itself this time. Kyuhyun now wondered if this was what Jaejoong felt when Changmin demands that the oldest DBSK member cook food—delicious food.

The problem was that Jaejoong was at least a competent cook. Kyuhyun, as his many misadventures in the past would attest, can turn the kitchen into something like a war zone.

But that didn’t stop the evil maknae from attempting to cook in the past. And it certainly wasn’t going to stop him this time!

Not when he had to impress his son with his baking skills.

...Baking skills that he had yet to acquire.

“Okay, what kind of cookies do you want, Minhyunnie?” Kyuhyun asked the little boy, who was currently kneeling on the chair to see high above the many ingredients that Kyuhyun had laid out on their kitchen table.

“Choc-o chips, umma!”

Kyuhyun nodded briefly. That was easy enough. Erm, an easy kind of cookies to try for a first ever attempt at baking, at least?

“And peanut butter ones.”

Kyuhyun blinked. “You want two kinds?”

But this was the little food monster that Kyuhyun was talking to. No way that Minhyun would just stop at two kinds of cookies!

“And oatmeal raisin ones... and pecan ones... and sugar cookies... and butter cookies... and cookies with M&Ms on them... and-“

“Minhyun, you don’t even like raisins!” Kyuhyun interrupted the now scarily long list. Why on earth was his son even requesting for oatmeal raisin cookies?

“‘Cause we can’t be neglectful with cookies, umma,” Minhyun said quite solemnly to his mother.

“Huh??”

“If we leave out a kind of cookies, that kind of cookie might feel hurt!” Minhyun informed Kyuhyun. “We need to be sens’tive of food’s feelings, too, umma!”

Kyuhyun knew that was again Changmin’s warped up principles regarding food that were coming out of Minhyun. So, the evil maknae wasn’t even going to bother to try to understand and argue against what Minhyun was saying right now.

And Minhyun finished off his “food speech” by declaring, “We need to make all the kinds of cookies, umma!”

Kyuhyun felt a bit faint. How on earth was he going to survive this?
