An Evil Maknae's Guide to MotherhoodA/N: And after almost half a year, I’m resurrecting this story!
Sorry about the wait. It’s been a mixture of things, really. I was concentrating on finishing my other story, “For You Anything… and Everything” (shameless promo here lol; please check it out if you have time). I’ve been busy with my job. And I’ve been uninspired for this chapter. It’s really just a transition chapter, more than anything. Not much happening here, but it’s necessary for the flow of the story.
Also, as I may have said before, chapters for books 2 and 3 will be on the short side. Compiled one-shots that show Kyu and Minhyunnie’s life, really.
Anyway, here’s the long delayed, much awaited update. Enjoy! :)
Book 2: The (Crazy) Baby Years
Chapter 2: Moving
Hankyung got time off from work during that first month, but he often pondered on how his work life would have been so much less stressful than his home life at that point. Between making sure that Kyuhyun didn’t do anything too strenuous (and crazy), teaching Kyuhyun how to properly take care of a baby (“This is a living, breathing creature, Kyuhyun! It doesn’t have a plug or an off switch!”), and keeping the house in order, Hankyung was very much stressed out indeed.
The Chinese man had thought that his house had gone crazy since Kyuhyun turned up on his doorstep.
But it seemed like he only started to understand what “crazy” really was when a baby was thrown into the mix.
Since Kyuhyun didn’t bother reading the mountains of baby books that Hankyung bought for him, Hankyung had to read them all himself and teach it all to Kyuhyun instead, but they were often still at a lost on how to do things properly in the first few days at home. Even simple things such as dressing Minhyun couldn’t be handled easily by the two grown and famous men (“Turn it the other way around!” “You are such a pabo, hyung! Putting it on this way is easier!” “But Minhyun’s onesie is facing the wrong way, Kyu!” “How about this?” “No, like this! There we go!” “…” “…” “Why is still upside down?!”). And then there was the horror of changing diapers, too (“Kyuhyun, it’s your turn to change the diaper!” “Nuh-uh!” “Goddammit, Kyu! You’ve practically changed his diaper only once since we got home!” “It’s already one time too many! How can such a tiny thing create such a big mess, anyway?” “This is your baby, Kyu!”). Not even taking Minhyun out on his stroller went by peacefully, Hankyung seeing the evil smirk on Kyuhyun’s face just in time before the mother and son duo left Hankyung’s house (“Kyuhyun, why are you smirking like that?!” “It’s time to test out how good in running over peasants this stroller is!” “…What?! Kyuhyun, no!”).
Thankfully, the first month passed without Kyuhyun managing to do something diabolical, with Minhyun still alive and safe and happy, and with Hankyung’s sanity still intact, by some miracle (“Just barely intact!” Hankyung would like to add). And with Kyuhyun and Minhyun being pronounced to be in good health by Hankyung’s uncle, the time for their move to the small town had come.
Hankyung was both very much relieved that his home would be peaceful again… and out of his mind with worry at the thought of leaving Kyuhyun and Minhyun to fend for themselves. Kyuhyun had been Hankyung’s sole responsibility since the maknae fled to China. The Chinese man was having a hard time letting go.
“And you remember how many scoops to put when making Minhyun’s milk?” Hankyung asked fretfully, looking away from the road for a second to glance at the maknae on the passenger’s seat.
Kyuhyun rolled his eyes.
Most of their belongings had been moved to their new apartment earlier in the week, and Hankyung was now driving Kyuhyun and Minhyun to their new home. Only half of the two-hour drive had passed, and Kyuhyun was already tired and exasperated with Hankyung’s endless (and unnecessary, in the evil maknae’s opinion) worry and questions.
“Yes, hyung,” the younger man huffed irritably. So, the first time he tried to make milk for his son, the result was that the baby bottle was filled with 10% water and 90% powde
