An Evil Maknae's Guide to MotherhoodA/N: Hi, guys! Here’s the next chapter! It’s a bit faster than my usual update time, but I’m actually excited for the last two chapters of Book 2 (the one after this chapter and then the one after that), so I’m trying to get to them as soon as possible. :D
Anyway, here’s the next update. Hope you guys like it. :)
Book 2: The (Crazy) Baby Years
Chapter 8: Acquiesce
Being an evil maknae, it was perhaps an expected quirk of Kyuhyun’s that he’s pleased and interested with everything and anything mischievous and troublesome by nature. And it was also expected that he would “rightfully” (in his opinion) be proud of Minhyun causing mischief and trouble, whether it be in a general sense, or to people in the small town, or to “poor Uncle Hannie” when he visits.
What the evil maknae wasn’t bargaining for was that he himself would also be a firsthand victim of all the mischief and trouble.
When you pass the “evil gene” to your son and he also exhibits evilness, it’s practically a given that you’ll also have to deal with the evilness yourself. However, for such a self-proclaimed genius, Kyuhyun didn’t realize this.
Until Minhyun opened his eyes to the truth.
“What do you think, Minhyunnie?” Kyuhyun said happily as he showed his son a sketch of his plan for the “improvement” of the town hall (which may or may not somehow involve adding secret passages and rooms and weapon storages to the old building). “Looks good, huh?”
Minhyun, however, was currently busy with yet another bottle of milk. Kyuhyun should count himself lucky that the baby even spared him a glance.
As the evil maknae went back to continuing his plans for “improving” the hall, though, Minhyun ran out of milk. Which of course caused the little food monster to start bawling at the top of his lungs again, ever-hungry and wanting more milk.
“Alright, alright! More milk coming right up!” Kyuhyun took the empty bottle and ran to the kitchen to make more. In his mild panic, he just hastily threw the plans on the coffee table.
The problem was that Minhyun was sitting on a play mat that was right beside the table. Since the table was low and the plans just ended up by the edge of the table, the sheets of paper were quite easily within the reach of a curious, mischievous baby.
If Kyuhyun wasn’t concentrating so hard on putting the scoops of powdered milk into the bottle (making milk was still a bit tricky for the maknae, okay?! Don’t judge!), he would have noticed that Minhyun’s cries had actually subsided. And have been suspicious about it, because Minhyun just doesn’t stop being upset until he gets more milk!
As it was, Kyuhyun didn’t notice that anything was out of place.
Until he returned to the living room.
And saw that his plans were now crumpled up, torn, and/or soaked and ruined by baby saliva.
“Mihyunnie, what are you doing?!” Kyuhyun cried out in panic as he ran toward his son, wrenching the sheets of paper from Minhyun’s tiny hands.
Minhyun looked up at his mother with wide eyes, slightly surprised at having his “fun” (a.k.a. Kyuhyun’s papers) taken away from him.
“No, Minhyunnie, you don’t do that, okay? That’s bad!” Kyuhyun reprimanded his son as he looked as his now ruined plans in dismay.
Then, the maknae paused.
Wait.
Did he seriously just tell his son to not do something bad?!
But—but—the evilness! It must be continued! Encouraged! Nourished! But then… his work, now all ruined! And he spent so many hours on this! And he’d now have to redo everything!... But again, what about the evilness?!
Kyuhyun was internally torn.
As an evil maknae, he should encourage trouble and mischief… but Minhyun’s mischievousness had now ruined his work.
Oh, the dilemma!
Kyuhyun realized that it was so much harder to be happy about Minhyun’s evilness when he was the one experiencing it!
Meanwhile, Minhyun had gotten the milk bottle that Kyuhyun brought back with him. The little baby just busied himself with his milk and paid no more attention to his mother, who was currently having an existential crisis.
As time passed, Kyuhyun soon quickly discovered that Minhyun being evil wouldn’t exactly be a picnic for the evil maknae either. As the parent, Kyuhyun had to be the one that dealed with the mess and chaos that Minhyun’s inherited evilness caused.
Such as the time when Minhyun, who was crawling along the f
