An Evil Maknae's Guide to MotherhoodA/N: Okay, first, I want to share some good news. As I’ve said before, my laptop’s keyboard has been broken since August. All the updates since then (even when I was doing the rush updates at the end of December) were done through my phone and a wireless keyboard. :P But the other day, my laptop’s keyboard suddenly started working! :O I dunno how it happened; I didn’t fix anything at all. Whatever it is, I’m very happy! Writing updates will be easier for me now! Yay! 8D
Anyway, here’s the next chapter! The first chapter of Book 4! I can’t believe we’re finally starting this book. :O
Book 4: Blast from the Past
Chapter 1: Questions
Minhyun was watching his classmates.
It was dismissal time, and the little evil minion was standing outside the school and waiting for his mother to come and get him. Kyuhyun had told Minhyun that morning that he might be a bit late in picking him up, so the little boy wasn’t worried that his mother hadn’t shown up yet.
Waiting gave Minhyun plenty of time to watch his classmates, though.
To be more specific, the little evil minion was curiously watching his classmates and their parents.
His classmates had two parents each.
A mom and a dad.
Minhyun only had his umma.
Of course, it wasn’t that Kyuhyun had never been enough for Minhyun; the little boy thought the world of his mother! Minhyun, being the little evil genius that he was, also understood that Kyuhyun, despite being a man, was really his mother instead of father. The little boy still doesn’t quite get how it was possible (heck, even the grown-ups don’t get it, so we can’t really expect Minhyun to get it, can we?), but Minhyun wasn’t really surprised that his umma was able to do it. His umma was the best at everything! It may be impossible for a man to be the (biological) mother, but Minhyun didn’t think that anything was impossible for his umma! So, he didn’t quite find it unbelievable that Kyuhyun managed to become a mother despite his male form. His umma was amazing! :3
What really bothered the little evil minion’s mind was that his classmates all had two parents.
Shouldn’t Minhyun have two parents as well?
There must another parent. His appa.
That night, during dinner, Kyuhyun got a nasty shock. A shock that signaled that their life would never really be the same again—that changes were about to come.
“Umma...” Minhyun began slowly as he slowly the residue of the ice cream from his spoon (the little food monster thought that not even a single spot of food should be wasted, so it was best to be thorough when eating).
“Yes, Minhyunnie?”
“I have a question...”
“Shoot, dumpling! You know that you can ask umma anything. And since umma is an evil genius, he can answer everything! Kekeke.”
That was all the encouragement that Minhyun needed to “shoot” the question to his mother.
“Where’s my appa?”
Kyuhyun had already long finished eating before Minhyun. There wasn’t any food in his mouth at all. So, when he started choking at Minhyun’s question, he was really just choking on thin air somehow.
“W-what?!” Kyuhyun spluttered out. He most certainly hadn’t been expecting that question!
“My appa, umma. Who is he? Where’s my appa? Why is he not with us?”
One would have expected that as an evil genius, Kyuhyun should have known that his son would, one day, pose these questions. Of course, the self-proclaimed evil genius was quite dense when it came to obvious and simple and expected things like this. So, Minhyun’s questions really caught him by surprise.
“M-Minhyunnie, you know that your father—me—is technically your mother,” Kyuhyun tried to doge the questions.
But the evil maknae had raised his son to be an evil genius just like him. Of course there was no way that Kyuhyun could just escape Minhyun’s questions.
“I know that, umma,” Minhyun rolled his eyes (Kyuhyun was wondering when on earth the little boy even learned to roll his eyes when exasperated). His mother was deliberately avoiding his questions! “I know that as a guy, you should be my appa but that you’re really my umma. Where’s the other parent, though? There should be two parents. Where’s my appa?”
For the first time in his life, Kyuhyun had no answer to give.
When Kyuhyun was in school, he always been able to answer the teachers’ questions, whether it be in math, science, or any other subject really. He also knew lots of facts and trivia, so one could ask him something so random, and he’d be able to answer it still. And when he was still living the idol life and an active member of Super Junior, he could answer whatever tricky and sneaky questions MCs, hosts, and reporters tried to ask him.
But now, Kyuhyun totally couldn’t answer his young son at all. No answer. Nothing. Nada. Null. Zip. Zero.
Because really, what on earth was he supposed to tell Minhyun? How the hell could he even begin to answer those questions?! His son knew nothing about his past life before he came to China. Sure, Minhyun knew that they were from another country—from South Korea, but the little boy knew nothing about his mother’s fame or the mess that he left behind in
