Baby Blue walls of the west wing of SM General Hospital always seem to emit a different vibe, illuminating brightly with natural light. Being the place that gave hope for numerous little lives to grow up healthy, west wing has a slight merriness lingering in its environment.
With his feet softly tapping the marbled floor, Dr. Oh finds a far better reason for the cheeriness of this sector. In his white coat Dr. Oh straightens his back, walking proudly like the genius he is, a smug smile finding its way to his lips, spotting the happy bundle of a pediatrician.
Dr. Lu wants to laugh aloud. He clearly sees that he is the reason for Sehun’s egocentric pretense that covers his handsome face. Schooling his expression into an equal stare, mustering the most aristocratic face he can pull out, Lu Han stands on Sehun’s way.
ing his delicate hands in his coat pockets, Lu Han sticks out his nose.
“Dr. Oh, it’s fancy to meet you here in the west wing. What brings you here? A need of medical assistance from a specific pediatrician?”
His perfect British accent works up its way with Lu Han’s tongue. Sehun wiggles his eye brows, astounding for his accent. If he didn’t see that it was Lu Han, he would have definitely thought it to be a native Englander not a Chinese at all. But it isn’t the time for that. Sehun, shooting his air headed look, answers with his flawless American accent.
“What a pleasant surprise Dr. Lu! High and mighty Oh Sehun wouldn’t waste his time in west wing if it wasn’t for occupational requirement, that’s how you presume. But don’t forget that my life’s one of purposes is to have you in my sight. So there’s a high chance that I may have strolled just to see your beautiful face”
Sehun victoriously smiles as he witnesses a light blush blooming on his lover’s cheek. But Lu Han opts play his role.
“Well, well Dr. Oh, I doubt that you are just strolling since strolling does not suit your high and mighty attitudes. And I believe that you do know the ethics stand in the medical field. Do not flirt during working hours. I will be happy to assist you but I am a busy surgeon. If you may approach the subject I will be glad”
He says turning on his heel, leading the way to his department. Sehun walks with him feigning a hurt expression.
“That’s how you are thinking of me? That I wouldn’t just be here to see you? That hurts.”
He pauses stealing a look at Lu Han. He sees Lu Han’s lips are quivering to break into a grin. Sehun straightens his coat. He looks at Dr. Lu beneath his nose.
“Very well Dr. Lu. I am on a professional matter of course but still I may be paying a little visit on my favorite pediatrician. But yes you are right, if I am to be clear about my intention of visiting you here, I need a pediatrician to assist me.”
Sehun says. Lu Han tilts his head to a side, his eye brows disappearing in his bangs.
“For what exactly Dr. Oh?”
Sehun stops and clutches Lu Han’s shoulder, his flawless face morphing into a serious stare.
“Han, no joking. I have a two year old patient in pediatric department with a heart condition and I need your assistant to tend the child and to monitor her. You know that I am not good with children.”
“Yeah some meanie looking nasty doc, that’s been said about you Dr. Oh. But I didn’t hear about a child with heart condition in our department.”
Lu Han’s snarky comment earns an eye roll from Sehun nevertheless Sehun continues to explain, starting to walk.
“She just arrived. It’s Hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a rare con heart condition, left side of the heart is critically underdeveloped. She’s been through treatments, a surgical procedure that involves three steps. She wasn’t my patient. My batch mate Dr. Changmin in SooJong teaching hospital was her cardiothoracic surgeon. But he happened to have a broken leg because of a car accident these days and he asked me to precede the next step of the surgery as it has to be done before she is three. I am doing him a favour.”
Sehun motions to Lu Han to take a turn to left which is leading to the rooms.
“So, you are to perform the final step and she will be okay?”
“Yeah. Her condition doesn’t need a heart transplant. So far she is enduring passing the odds. I hope she will get better.”
Sehun checks the numbers and stops in front of a white door.
“And we are here.”
He says, fingers gripping the door knob.
“Tsk Dr. Oh, you are about to visit a baby girl and nervous parents, at least a nervous mother. It doesn’t hurt to smile a little. You do have your charms now, don’t you?”
Lu Han pokes his waist in attempt of tickling the cardiothoracic surgeon. Sehun grips his hand and leans in for a whisper.
“I do but my charms are limited for one person. I don’t plan to fascinate anyone else with them, neither my patients in that matter. What’s the use of doing that when I have the most beautiful man on this earth, all to myself?”
The comment earns a beautiful shade of a pink in Pediatrician’s cheeks but he laughs it off.
“Dr. Oh, do you mind? We have a patient to attend.”
“Of course Dr. Lu, lead the way.”
Sehun pushes open the door letting Dr. Lu to step in. Lu Han has his bright smile in his face. Sehun follows spotting a tiny girl sleeping on the bed, a guardian on a chair beside the bed.
Sehun bows and greets but surprise flashes in his face, the moment he takes a good look of the mother of the child.
“Good morning! I am doctor- Seohyun! Is that you?”
The said woman stares at the cardiothoracic surgeon for two solid seconds until realization hits her.
“Sehun? Oh my god!”
She gasps.
“I didn’t- Wow! And she is your child?”
Sehun forms somewhat coherent sentence pointing the sleeping child.
“Yes, she is, my little Taeyeon. I really didn’t expect you to meet here after all these years. I could have guessed that it’s you when they said that the surgeon is Dr. Oh. But I thought you were still in USA.”
Mother’s soft eyes fondly fix on the child for a second, before brightening again. She is enthusiastic to see Sehun. Lu Han stills on his spot, confusion visible in his eyes. His smile has long forgotten. Sehun regained his composure and nods.
“I was in USA, recently moved back. Well, Seohyun, this is Dr. Lu, the attending pediatrician of
