Verification of Feelings

Runaway Groom

A/N:  Sorry for not updating for SOOO long.  My dance recital was this past weekend, and that means late night practices are over.  That also means that I get to update!  Yay! :)

"Sica ah, are you listening to me?" Jiyong asked.

Jessica stared at him as tried to keep her eyes open.  Jiyong guessed that her eyelids were beginning to feel heavy because of how drowsy she looked.  He gasped loudly as he saw her head bang against the surface to the table.  He quickly stood up while Daesung and Sooyoung ran out of the kitchen to check up on the loud noise.  Jiyong pushed her hair away from her face and saw her cheek against the table.  Her eyes were closed and was slightly open.

"She fell asleep?" Sooyoung was puzzled.

"Yeah," Jiyong muttered, "I guess my words bored her that much."

Jessica dressed herself in a pair of shorts and a long sleeved shirt as soon as she woke up.  She was in the kitchen with Tiffany in her condominium.  She saw Tiffany mixing cake batter together for a special gift for her boyfriend.  Jessica took some frosting that Tiffany had left in a tub and began to eat it with a spoon.

"Yah, don't do that!" Tiffany scolded, "There might not be enough frosting for the cake.  Hyun Joong oppa will be disappointed."

Jessica rolled her eyes playfully as she put down the spoon in the sink.  She sat down on the table as Tiffany kept a smile on her face.  Jessica knew how much Tiffany loved Hyun Joong just by looking at how she smiled when she thought about him.  Jessica laughed lightheartedly as she nudged Tiffany at her side.

"Someone's in love!" Jessica teased.

Tiffany admitted, "Of course I am!  I would never bake for anyone unless it was for the person I love the most!"

Tiffany glanced over at Jessica and noticed the neutral expression she had in her face.  It was as if she didn't have a care in the world about love.  Jessica walked to the fridge and pulled out an apple and bit into it.

"Love is for losers!" Jessica giggled to herself.

"Well, I'm a proud loser!" Tiffany defended, "And why are you so...normal?  I thought you would have a hangover because it's early in the morning.  Sooyoung texted me that you fell asleep in the restaurant and Jiyong had to take you home.  I guessed you fell asleep because you were drunk."

"I wasn't drunk," Jessica explained, "I was buzzed.  I guess I might have fallen asleep because I was getting drowsy and sleepy."

Tiffany didn't say a word and continued to stare at Jessica.  Jessica grew defensive and guessed that Tiffany was observing her and that she had a scandalous thought in her head.  Tiffany continued to gaze at her with her arms crossed against her chest.  Jessica took another bite into her apple and raised her shoulders.

"What?" Jessica questioned.

Tiffany gave a grim smile, "You're hiding something from me.  I have been your best friend since I moved from California to South Korea.  I know you inside out.  You know something that you don't want anyone knowing.  You have to tell me now."

Jessica gave a confused expression as she refused to make eye contact with her best friend.  Tiffany let go of the mixer and walked towards Jessica.  She looked at her closer and immediately knew that something was up.  Tiffany looked at her with suspicion that something had happened last night.

"Something happened last night, huh?" Tiffany asked, "It just feels as if something did."

Jessica felt guilty for hiding something as big as what happened last night.  Jessica knew that she was going to end up telling her.  Jessica put her head down on the table as Tiffany began to shake Jessica's shoulder to get her attention.  Jessica took a deep breath and nervously her lips.  She had so much on her mind and she had to tell someone.  She wanted to tell Yoona, but at the same time, she couldn't.

"I was a little buzzed last night.  We went to a karaoke bar last night and I sang," Jessica revealed.

Tiffany froze, "You haven't sang in so long..."

"I know, and there's more to it.  He saw me getting a little drunk, so he pulled me away from the karaoke bar.  We were about to go home, but then I saw Sooyoung's restaurant and I was so hungry.  My stomach was grumbling so loud and I couldn't handle it, so I went inside Sooyoung's restaurant and he went in with me," Jessica continued.

"That's all?" Tiffany anxiously interrupted.

Jessica gave her best friend a deadly stare and Tiffany immediately opened her ears and closed .

"As I was saying...we went into Sooyoung's restaurant.  Daesung was with her and I had a short talk with Sooyoung," Jessica continued, "When Sooyoung finished preparing the food, Jiyong and I were left alone in the dining area.  I think Daesung and Sooyoung were cleaning up the kitchen."

Jessica shut her eyes.  She couldn't believe that she was telling Tiffany this.  Tiffany was staring at her with wide eyes.  She didn't even blink so that she could fully absorb every single thing that Jessica told her.  Jessica then slapped her forehead and let out a loud grunt.

"I was a little drunk, so I started to act a little weird.  I don't know why, but I felt happy.  The beer made me really happy," Jessica informed her, "But then he ruined it for me.  He told me that he was going to tell me the reason why he left me.  To add on to that, Jiyong told me that he still loves me."

Tiffany quickly stood up from her chair knocking down the wooden chair to the marble tiles.  Tiffany's jaw had dropped in shock as she tried to let out a cry of surprise.  Tiffany was so astonished of what Jessica had told her that she couldn't even say anything.  Jessica sighed to see Tiffany's reaction.  Tiffany then scooted to the chair next to Jessica and began to poke her.

"Y-yah, tell me more!" Tiffany requested shakily, "Why did he tell you that?  Does he even love Dara?  What was his reason to why he left you?  What did you say after he told you that?  Do you still love him?"

She felt confused at how many questions Tiffany was firing at her.  Jessica shook her head to knock out any confusion in her head.  She rested her elbows on the surface of the table and leaned on her hands.

"I will never know why he left me because I pretended to fall asleep," Jessica exposed.

Without a single warning, Tiffany slapped Jessica on the shoulder roughly.  Jessica grimaced at the sudden pain and furrowed her eyebrows at Tiffany.

"Why can't you see that this is your second chance at love?" Tiffany cried out, "The man had made it clear that he still loves you, and you pretended to go to sleep? You're so weird!  When he told you that he still loves you, he meant it!  It was like he was telling you that he doesn't want to get married to Dara and that his heart still belongs to you.  Why can't you see it?  What if he had a good excuse to why he left you?"

Jessica looked down, "I don't need his explanation.  For the past four years, I had wondered why he left me, but I decided to give up.  He made my life miserable. He made me feel the joy of being loved and then suddenly took it away without a single warning.  Who knows?  He may be playing with my feelings."

Tiffany cocked an eyebrow as she playfully jabbed Jessica's side.

"You still love him," Tiffany stated.

"No, I don't," Jessica denied.

Tiffany persisted, "You do.  And I know it."

"Who cares if I do...or not?" Jessica shrugged her shoulders, "The past is the past.  I already forgot about him."

"You care because if you look back at this moment ten years from now and you didn't tell him that you loved him back, you will regret it.  You will be in your mid-thirties with no family or husband.  The only children that you will have in your life is your nieces and nephews from Yoona and Seunghyun and the children of your closest friends.  Do you really want that?" Tiffany lectured.

Jessica crossed her arms and pouted out her lips.

"That's so mean!  Why would you even say that?!" Jessica exclaimed.

Tiffany gave her a stern look and put her hand on Jessica's shoulder.

"I had to say it.  If you keep up with this 'I don't care about men' attitude, you'll end up being single forever.  You should listen to your heart again.  You haven't done that in four long years," Tiffany said in a quiet voice.

Jessica replied, "My heart tells me to keep away from him."

"Nope," Tiffany shook her head, "Your brain is telling you that, not your heart."

Jessica sat alone in her living room as she curled up in a ball in the corner of her couch.  She put her head against her knees and closed her eyes.  Tiffany had left to go on her date with Hyun Joong.  It wasn't until Tiffany left that Jessica realized the date.  It was her anniversary date with Jiyong.  Her breathing grew uneasy as she finally lifted her chin up.  She briefly looked at the clock and saw that it was already 7:00 pm.  She had practically done nothing all day. She had no work, and she couldn't visit her sister or any of her friends.  Her friends either had work or a date, and Yoona and Seunghyun had went on a shopping trip together.  Jessica had wasted the whole day watching television, eating, sleeping, and surfing the internet.

She then noticed the trend that she had during that day.  She noticed that for the past few years, she had been spending the same exact day the same way. She would be miserable at home.  Jessica then stood up and tried to smile.  Things needed to change for her.  She was already given the opportunity to reconcile with her friends. She walked into her bedroom to take a quick shower so that she could look presentable.

________________________________________________

Jessica nervously bit her lip as she continued to walk through the streets of Seoul.  She hadn't gone out for no particular reason in such a long time.  Jessica looked around and saw different types of people.  Most of the people out were quite young.  She saw teenagers hand in hand on dates while street vendors tried to get their attention by waving their products at them.  Jessica clutched onto her Prada purse and continued to walk through the streets.

A sight that she had not seen is such a long time was finally in front of her again.  She stared at it without blinking as she walked towards it.  In front of her was a sturdy bridge that a river ran under.  She couldn't help but smile.  She leaned her elbows on the bridge's railings as she closed her eyes and inhaled the scent.  She missed hearing the water running through rocks under the bridge.  Without even knowing it, she had a smile on her face.  As soon as she realized that she was smiling, a frown appeared on her flawless face.  Two teenagers were at the bridge with her.  Her face was filled with confusion and worry.  It was as if she wanted to cry, but she didn't allow herself to.

"Miss, are you okay?" Jessica heard a teenage girl say.

Jessica turned around and saw a teenage girl holding her boyfriend's hand.  Jessica guessed that they were both high school seniors.  They still had their school uniforms on with their IDs around their necks.  Jessica nodded with assurance that she was fine.  The teenage girl smiled at her with kindness.

"I'm fine," Jessica said in a soft voice, "I just remembered something nice for once."

______

Flashback (Jessica's POV)...

I couldn't help but smile as I stood over the bridge.  I just loved being here, and I know that it'll never change.  When my father was still alive, he would take me and Yoona here to go fishing.  Sometimes, Yoona and I would go here when our dad was at work so that we could play.  A memory that I had here was when Yoona and I got into an argument and I accidentally pushed her off the bridge.  She didn't know how to swim, and I started to cry because I regretted pushing her off.  I jumped into the water as an eight year old girl to save my little sister even if I didn't know how to swim myself.  That day was important to me because that was the day I learned how to swim and it was also the day I formed an unbreakable bond with Yoona.  She forgave me for pushing her, and she thanked me for saving her.

I always told myself that I would bring the man that I loved here so that we could watch a meteor shower together.  Here I was with Jiyong.  He's looking at me with those eyes.  I swear his eyes are my weakness.  It's as if I could read them and know his thoughts right away.  Right now, he's feeling happiness and delight.  I straightened out the dress that he had bought for me.  It was unbelievable that he bought me a $500 dress.  I told him that it was okay, but he refused and used up the money that he saved up working as a part-time waiter.

"Sica, do you think that there will be a meteor shower tonight?" he asked me.

I felt his arms circling around my waist in an attempt to keep me warmer.  I simply smiled at satisfaction with the relationship I have with him.

"I don't know," I told him, "Last time I went here with Yoona, there wasn't one."

I looked around us and saw several people waiting for the meteor shower.  Once every few nights, people would come with hopes that the meteor shower would make an appearance.  I saw an old man with a frown on his face.  He waved his arms out to everyone with hopes that it would gain everyone's attention.

"I spoke to the meteorologist in town, and he said that there is no meteor shower tonight!" he announced.

I sighed with disappointment as Jiyong patted my hand.  I really wanted to watch that meteor shower.  Yoona and I were reading about it in a book and it was mentioned that there was a saying that if a man and woman watched it together, their souls would bind into one.  Jiyong brought me closer to him as he held my hands.  He gently kissed my forehead as he gave a faint smile.

"It's okay, Sica.  We'll watch it together one day," he assured me.

_____

Jessica tried to distract herself from that thought.  She cursed to herself that she even allowed herself to think about such a memory.  She grew startled as she heard her phone ringing loudly.  She opened her black purse and began to fish around her bag for her phone.  When she finally took it out of her bag, she read the text message that was sent to her.

From:  Onew
Sent:  9:26 pm

Jessica ah~
I'm heading back to Korea tonight!  Do you want to have dinner tomorrow?  Call it a date if you want. ^_^

Jessica stared at the message for the longest time.  Was Onew finally showing an obvious interest in her?  He was usually shy with her and he hardly hinted that he liked her.  Yoona and Seunghyun would always that Onew had the biggest crush on her.  She would always ignore it because she didn't want to be in a relationship.  Her whole life revolved around her career and she always told herself that she had no time for a relationship.

"Sica ah, there's a meteor shower!" a familiar voice yelled at her.

Jessica turned around and carefully dropped her phone back in her bag.  She saw Jiyong standing in front of her.  With a scarf and coat, he dressed warmly in preparation for the cold night weather.  His eyes were as bright as the stars that night.  His eyes were filled with astonishment and excitement as the meteor shower began.  Jessica's attention quickly shifted from Jiyong to the beautiful dark night.  She stared at the sky with wide eyes as she saw several meteors shooting through the clear sky.

When she saw the meteors passing them, her eyes were filled with wonder.  For those few seconds, she felt as if she felt innocent and carefree.  For those few seconds, she felt as if there were no problems in her life.  She felt as if life was so simple.  She suddenly gulped as the meteors passed by them.  She was back in reality.  She lowered her head and tried to walk away.  She didn't want to deal with Jiyong.  Seeing him on their anniversary day only gave her good memories of them both.  Jessica didn't want to remember those memories because it was her past and she didn't want to rekindle the feelings.

As she began to walk away, Jiyong jogged up to her and gently grabbed her wrist.  Jessica annoyingly turned around and gave a stern look.

"What do you want?" Jessica snapped.

Jiyong breathed as he looked at her with a gentle smile.  To him, she still looked beautiful even if she was mad.  Her eyes glared at him with so much anger.

"Are you hungry?" he asked her, "I'm going to eat and I really don't want to eat alone.  I'll pay."

"No, thanks," Jessica replied quickly, "I'm not hungry."

Jessica tried to walk away, but suddenly stopped as she heard her stomach grumble loudly.  She clutched her stomach and tried to push through.  She didn't want to eat dinner with him.  She knew that if she ate dinner with him, he would be the one to talk the whole time.  She continued to walk away with a grimace on her face.  She then felt him pull her by the wrist.  She turned around and shot a dirty look at him again.

"Can you leave me alone?!" Jessica exclaimed, "I only went here to watch the meteors!  They're gone now, so I'm going to leave!"

Jiyong couldn't help but giggle to himself.  He just wanted to pinch her cheeks when she tried to look angry.  Instead of looking angry and dangerous, he would think that she looked cute and adorable.  Of course, many people were scared of Jessica.  They were afraid of how blunt she was at work.  They were frightened over how cruel she was in her judgments.  Jiyong was the only man that she knew that was able to deal with it.

"The restaurant that I know is owned by one of my friends.  It's a restaurant that specializes in American food," Jiyong claimed, "It's the only restaurant open for today in this area.  Most of the other local restaurants took the night off to watch the stars.  The reservations are full and I could get one in a snap of my fingers.  Would you like to eat with me?"

Jessica immediately frowned as her stomach growled even louder.  She gave an embarrassed smile as she finally gave a sigh of defeat.

_______

Jessica honestly didn't care if she looked like a pig.  She ate her heart out without any limits.  She continued to stuff with steak, vegetables, and mashed potatoes.  She then stopped as she noticed Jiyong staring at her.  She looked up and saw him looking at her with an amused expression.  He was slowly eating his steak.

"What?" Jessica complained, "I know I'm eating like a pig!"

"It's cute," Jiyong said.

Jessica snapped, "Shut up.  I'm not cute, and you know it."

Without hesitation, Jessica continued to eat her food.  The only breaks that she took was when she would take a drink of water.

Dinner was soon over within a few minutes, and as promised, Jiyong paid for the bill.  Jessica was a bit surprised that he hardly talked.  As soon as they walked out of the restaurant, Jessica felt awkward.  She didn't know what to say to him.  Should she thank him for the wonderful meal?  Should she walk away and say goodbye?  Jessica cleared and gave an uncomfortable smile.

"Thanks for the dinner," Jessica bowed, "I'll see you in a few days when we talk about the dress rehearsal."

She expected him to stop her.  Part of her wanted him to, but part of her wanted him to let her go.  It was a type of dilemma that she hated.  She wanted to spend time with him, but she felt guilty.

Jessica made herself stop thinking about it.  She tried to walk away, but suddenly stopped as she saw a store.  A smile appeared on her face as she made her way to a small shop.  Jiyong followed her because it seemed to have caught his eye, too.

"This is different," Jiyong said, "Who would open up a baby store in this area?"

"Shut up, it's cute!" Jessica gushed, "I need to go in!"

Jiyong watched her run in the store as he approached it while scratching the back of his head.

"I will never understand women!" he grunted.

As soon as he walked in, he saw Jessica running around while looking through the baby clothes.  He wondered why she was so excited.  It was as if she was going to have a baby herself.  She then jogged to the cribs and began to look through them as if she was a hawk.  Jiyong tapped her shoulder and she quickly turned around.

"Why did we go here?" Jiyong asked her.

Jessica laughed, "Why did we go here?  You didn't have to follow me!  I already told you goodbye.  I don't know why you had to follow me in here."

Jessica focused on the cribs again and began to look back and forth on two cribs.  The first crib had baby blue sheets while the second one had soft pink bed sheets.

"Yah!" Jiyong said, "Why are you looking at those?  Are you pregnant or something?"

Jiyong shook as he asked her those words.  Why would she be looking at baby products?  Bad thoughts began to rush into his mind.  What if she had a one night stand and she was pregnant?  If she was pregnant by a stranger, she would be forced to marry him because of the baby!  He didn't want her life to be ruined!

"Of course not!" Jessica smacked his arm, "I'm looking at the blue and pink cribs because I want to know if I'm going to have a nephew or niece!"

"A niece or nephew?!" Jiyong gasped, "Yoona's pregnant?!  Why didn't hyung tell me?  He used to tell me everything!"

"Yeah, he used to," Jessica repeated, "I don't think that he's that close to you anymore.  He was telling Yoona that since you got engaged to Dara, you have been with her ever since.  You have not spent one night out with your friends."

Jiyong's heart began to fill with worry.  He didn't know that Seunghyun would complain about that.  He did feel guilty that he had neglected his closest friendships.  He was always being dragged by Dara to important meetings, parties, and gatherings that he forgot about his friends.

"I didn't know hyung felt that way.  I thought it was okay with him," Jiyong admitted.

What interrupted their conversation made Jessica's heart jump.  She heard the door lock and she saw the lights turn off.  Jessica began to panic as she dashed towards the entrance of the store.  She pulled on the door's handle to only affirm that it was indeed locked.  She looked at the store hours sign on the front desk and saw that it was already closing time.  She groaned as she walked back to Jiyong, who was as calm as the night sky.

"What happened?" Jiyong asked.

"The store is closed!  It's not going to open until six in the morning!  That's too long!  I checked my phone and there's no reception here!" Jessica pouted.

Jiyong walked over to an aisle and began to lay out a large comforter.  Jessica pointed a finger at him as he stared at her.

"You're not supposed to do that!  That's a store product!" Jessica informed him.

Jiyong shrugged, "Don't worry.  I'll pay for it in the morning.  It's going to be a long night and I think we should sleep already."

"Sleep?  What are you talking about?" Jessica questioned.

Jiyong laid out the blankets on the floor as he took the last two pillows on the store shelf.  Jessica crossed her arms and continued to stare at him with disbelief.

"Look, you can either sleep next to me where it's warm, or you can sleep on the bare floor.  There aren't any other blankets in this store.  I checked while you were looking at the store hours.  It's either that or you can sleep on the floor...or you can sleep in the crib, but that would be absurd," he laughed to himself.

Jessica uncrossed her arms and laid down next to Jiyong.  She grabbed the blanket and put over her shoulders.

"You must be at least six inches away from me!" Jessica warned him.

"Your still as weird as ever...just like the first time I met you!" Jiyong laughed.

Jessica added, "Shut up!  You admitted that you wanted to switch dates, too!"

"You and your sister are a funny duo," Jiyong smiled, "I can't believe that time has passed by so quickly."

Jessica thought that the conversation was going to end there and that they were going to fall asleep, but he continued it.  Jessica couldn't see his face because the store was as dark as the night.  The only thing that gave off a little light was the moon shining against the small windows.

"Sica, remember that time we went to the carnival and you almost burst into tears because there was a clown messing with you?" Jiyong recalled.

Jessica answered, "You knew I was scared of clowns, but you still let him mess with me!"

"As long as he didn't hurt you, I wasn't going to do a thing," Jiyong laughed, "It was hilarious.  It was as if you were going to punch the poor guy for dancing around you."

Jessica caught herself laughing at the memory.  She realized how many good memories she had spent with him.  She never knew that it was possible to love and hate someone at the same time.

"We shouldn't be talking about the past.  It's over," Jessica snapped back to reality, "We will only talk about your wedding."

"The wedding that I had with you?" Jiyong asked nonchalantly.

Jessica's eyes bulged out to know that he had asked that question so calmly.  It was an awkward subject to discuss and she didn't know how to reply to it.

"Jiyong...let's not talk about that," Jessica begged.

Jiyong stared at the ceiling as he listened to Jessica's words.  What was she afraid of?  Why was she always so hesitant when she was near him?  Jiyong gulped as a thought came to his mind.  Ever since Dara left for New York, he didn't think about her one single time.  He didn't send her any texts, phone calls, or request any webcam sessions.  It was always her that requested them.  Jiyong was so engulfed with Jessica that he completely forgot about Dara.  That was a big sign to him.

"Why are you so afraid?" Jiyong challenged.

"Jiyong, stop it," Jessica ordered.

Jiyong replied, "No!  You have to tell me!  Why are you so scared?  What's wrong with talking about the past?"

Jessica clutched on the blanket as she closed her eyes tightly.  She couldn't handle it anymore.  She was going to burst with all of her frustrations at him.  Tears began to escape her eyes despite the fact that her eyes were shut tight.  She immediately sat up, and so did Jiyong.  They faced each other even if they couldn't see each other's faces.  Jessica began to pound her fists at his chest as he made no attempt to block them.

"You are what's wrong with me!  How can I feel comfortable with the past?!  You left me!  You left me at the altar!" Jessica cried, "I was so in love with you, but you left me!  I was a mess, but you didn't even come back for me!  You left me as a mess!  You proved to me that you didn't even care about me.  You didn't even love me.  It was all lies.  Our relationship was one big lie."

"Can I explain myself?" he asked gently.

"No!" Jessica shouted, "I won't let you because it's simple!  You asked me to marry you, I said yes, but you left me at the altar.  It's as easy as that!"

Jessica felt her fingers trembling as she shouted those words.  No words could explain what she was feeling.  The confusion of emotions made her even more angrier.

"You're just a jerk," Jessica continued, "I was doing fine in my life.  I have a great career and people respect me now.  You had to ruin my life.  You had to go back and book me as your wedding planner for your wedding with Dara.  If I only knew that you were the groom, I would have never accepted the offer.  All you did was remind me of the pain.  You should just run away from me again."

"Jessica!" Jiyong raised his voice.

"No, you don't talk!" Jessica cut him off, "It's my turn to talk.  I don't want to hear your explanation!"

He pushed her down to the floor and hovered over her fragile body without a single warning.  He covered with his hand and pinned her down with his legs and his other hand.  She stared at him with disbelief with her eyes widened.  She was shocked that he was doing that to her.

"Let me talk," he whispered.

Jessica slowly nodded.

"I tried telling you why I left you that time we went to Daesung and Sooyoung's restaurant, but I think you fell asleep on me," Jiyong started, "The real reason why I left you does not have to deal with Donghae.  I know that he kissed you.  I was shocked that you didn't tell me, but I let it slide because I knew that I would be the one crawling back to you if we broke up before the wedding."

Jessica pushed his hand away from , "You did break up with me!  The only difference is that you broke up with me on our wedding day!"

"I know that!  Can I explain it now?" Jiyong asked as she nodded.

Jiyong continued, "A month before the wedding, I found out that my father died.  He was the bastard that left my mother, Yuri, and I to go to America to reach his goals in life.  It turns out that he was the owner and founder of a rising clothing store in America.  When he died, he left everything to me.  The only problem was that it wasn't that popular yet.  It was getting popular, but it wasn't quite there.  Then I met Dara's dad.  He helped me out so much, and he tried hooking me up with Dara.  He knew that Dara had liked me since we were children because we went to the same school for a while.  I refused and said that I was getting married.  He did research on me...and he knew that my mother had cancer.  The doctors claimed that she only had one year to live.  He told me that if I dated Dara, he would bring in technology from his hospitals that would prolong her life decades long.  I wasn't persuaded because I really wanted to marry you.  Then he told me that if he stopped helping me with the new business my father had given to me, it would go bankrupt and you would have to marry someone with debt.  You wouldn't have your dreams, I would be in debt, and my mother would be dead.  I needed to let you go for all of our sakes."

Jessica smacked him.

"My dreams? What the hell are you talking about?" Jessica bit her lip.

"Dara's dad knew music producers.  He said that if I dated Dara, he would help fulfill your dreams of becoming a famous singer.  I didn't want you to miss out on a chance of a lifetime," Jiyong explained.

"I hate you," Jessica told him, "When you left, I couldn't sing anymore.  I refused to see the music producers that offered me contracts because I was in a depression."

Jiyong gasped, "Jessica, you're so stupid!"

"No, you are!  How can you do this?  Does Jisun know about this?  I would rather marry you than become a famous singer!" she screamed.

Jessica lowered her head as Jiyong gazed at her.  She was still in love with him.  Why else would she want to marry him?  He then held her hands with a bright smile on his face.

"Jessica, this can still work!" he said with excitement, "I can break it off with Dara.  My business is making so much money right now that I don't need to depend on Dara's father anymore.  They will probably cut my mother off of their medical supplies, but I can always hire specialists to take care of her!  We can have the life that we both wanted!  We can get married, have children together, and live happily."

Without a warning, Jiyong gave Jessica a kiss.  Jessica immediately tried pushing him away, but he held her so tightly.  She felt his soft lips against hers for the first time in so long.  It was as if part of her past had returned to her.  She was sure that he loved her, not Dara.  She then pushed him away.

"No, you can't do that," Jessica tried to cover her crying eyes, "You have to marry Dara.  She loves you."

"Jessica!" he protested.

Jessica pleaded, "Please don't say another word for the rest of the night.  You're only hurting me more."
