Meet Kwon Jisun

Runaway Groom

Jessica stared at the ceiling as she laid down on her large bed.  With her forearm against her forehead, she just gazed up at the ceiling.  It was already past eight o'clock in the morning and she normally would be up by six, but she decided to just lay there and think.  A thousand thoughts were running in her mind.  Her heart was in a huge conflict with her brain. Her brain was telling her that it wasn't right that she was thinking about him again.  What they had was over and he was now a thing of the past, but her heart was protesting.  Her heart was telling her that she should take another chance with him because she knows that he still loves her.  Her brain had a counterargument and brought up Sandara.  Sandara was such a sweet woman and Jessica didn't have the heart to interfere with their relationship. Even though Jessica's brain was winning the battle, the question of 'what if' kept on going through her mind.  What if Jessica and Jiyong's marriage went through?  What if Jiyong never left her and they were happily married?  Jessica figured that if the wedding went through as planned, they would have probably had their own family.  Jessica's heart felt like it was breaking at the thought.

Flashback (Jessica's POV)...

I held his hand firmly as we strolled the streets of Seoul.  I just love the nightlife in Seoul.  All the children were in bed and all the parents were at home.  The streets were filled with the young people of Korea as they began to wander around.  Jiyong had a beanie on as he wore his glasses.  He covered himself with his coat and scarf.  Just like him, I had a scarf around my neck.  My thick jacket kept my warm as my boots kept my feet cozy.

His fingers interlaced into mine as we continued to stroll the streets together.  The bright lights filled the streets while the quiet chatter between friends and lovers were heard by everyone.  A sight that caught my eye was an elderly couple.  Usually, the elderly would be at home by nine o'clock at night, but they were enjoying their night together just like everyone else.  My eyes lit up to see how loving they were towards each other.  It was as if their hearts were connected with each other.

"They're cute," I whispered to my boyfriend.

Jiyong lowered his head so that he could hear my soft whisper.  He gave me a loving smile and then kissed the top of my head. I loved it when he smiled at me.  He gave me this grin that was different from the smiles that he gave anyone else.  I smiled back to see that his eyes lit up when she saw me.  I couldn't help but blush.  He still gave me butterflies.

"We're going to be like that one day," he breathed into my ear.

I gently punched his arm and pursed my lips.

"Shut up, Ji," I stuck her tongue out.

"Sica, I'm serious," he grinned, "There is no other woman I could ever imagine myself with.  You're the only one for me."

I breathed in and began to think of our future.  Does he want to marry me?  If he's saying that we're going to be like that old married couple, then it must mean that wants to marry me, right?  I pushed away those thoughts and tried to think of something else.  Just because he claims that he wants to spend his entire life with me, it doesn't mean that he wants to get married to me.  I know a few couples that act as if they're not married, but aren't.  There are some people that don't like the idea of marriage.

"Would you still love me if I was old and wrinkly?" I asked.

He replied, "I don't love you..."

I crossed my thin arms and turned the other way.  I began to walk away swiftly at my own embarrassment.  I heard his footsteps swiftly trying to catch up to mine.  I couldn't look at him straight in the face.  I was too humiliated.  We've been together for a little more than two years.  He told me that he loved me plenty of times, but he could have been lying to me...right?  My face was flushed with a deep shade of red as he caught me by the wrist.  I turned around to see him with a taunting smirk on his face.  I tried to shake his grip off of my wrist, but he kept his hold firm.

My breathing got heavy as I tried to hold in my tears. I couldn't believe that he told me he doesn't love me.  I began questioned his love for me.  Since I had met him, I had devoted myself to him.  To know that my love for him wasn't good enough was heartbreaking.

"Sica, are you crying?" he gently questioned.

I hated him when he did this to me.  Whenever he asked me if I was crying, I would end up bursting into tears.  He knew that I would cry if he asked me that question, but he instinctively did it.  Tears began to fall from my eyes as I punched his chest angrily.  He became alert as the tears began to pour out.  I just couldn't keep them in anymore.  He told me that he didn't love me and it was too much to handle for me.  He knew how sensitive I was!

He requested, "Sica, can you take two steps on your left?"

I inhaled as I punched his chest again.  I mockingly took two steps on my left and threw my hands up in the air.  There were a few people watching us and I was pretty sure that they knew that I was upset because Jiyong had told me that he didn't love me.

"Do you want me to look as if I'm not with you so that you can hook up with another girl?  Jiyong, if you want to break up, then just tell me," I angrily stated, "Don't make this complicated!"

I grew startled as all the lights that filled the streets became dead.  Darkness surrounded me as I fell into panic.  After about five seconds, the lights again, and to left, there was a sign that made my heart flutter.  I couldn't believe my eyes.

The words were highlighted by a bright yellow fire as I read it slowly.  A big crowd had surrounded us as my tears finally came to a halt.  Will you marry me...that's what it read.  I saw a bunch of strangers looking at me.  Their hands were together as if they were going to get ready to clap any single second.  Another thing that caught my eye was all the familiar people I saw.  I saw Yoona, Seunghyun, Yuri, Hyoyeon, Tiffany, Taeyeon, Sunny, Seohyun, and Sooyoung in the crowd with happy smiles on their face.  Yoona gave a thumbs up as she held a camcorder in her palm.  The biggest thing that caught my attention was Jiyong.  He was on one knee.  His gleaming eyes were staring up at me as he held a large diamond ring in a velvet box.  I covered my mouth with my hand and tried to make my gasp inaudible.

"I thought you didn't love me," I recalled.

Jiyong sighed, "I don't love you because I'm in love with you.  I love my sister, your sister, Seunghyun, your friends, my friends, and my mother, but I wouldn't necessarily marry them.  I was going to explain it to you, but you walked away from me.  You actually walked to the spot I wanted you to go to, so this is just great.  Now that we have that clear, I want to say something.  The two years that we had together was wonderful.  I never thought I could ever care for someone as much as I care for you.  You will always have my heart, and I want to make you mine.  Jung Jessica, will you please marry this fool?"

"Of course!" I exclaimed.

The crowd burst into an applause as my sister and our friends joined us in celebration.  Life was good.  I always had an idea of how a fairytale would be like, but Jiyong had already exceeded my idea of how a prince charming was like.

Jessica grew startled as she heard a loud ringing sound.  She looked at her landline phone and realized that it was ringing.  She sighed and crawled out of the bed. She picked up the phone and pressed it against her ear.

"Hello," Jessica greeted.

"Jessica ah!" Sandara cried out, "I'm so sorry!  I called Jiyong earlier!  Well, I didn't call him.  I made him webcam with me and he when I saw him, his eyes were bloodshot!  I think he got drunk.  He told me that someone took him home, but he didn't remember!  I called the bar he was in last night and the owner told me that a blonde woman picked him up.  I figured that it was you!  I'm so sorry for bothering you!  I'm sorry that my sweetheart disturbed you!"

Jessica gave a weak smiled as she her lips.

Jessica replied, "It's okay.  Uh, Sandara, I really need to go now."

"Oh, that's right.  You have to go with Jiyong to the florist.  If you didn't read the packet, it says that the flower shop that you have to go to is the downtown.  It's the one next to the preschool and church," Sandara informed her.

"Floral Charms?  That flower shop?" Jessica asked.

"Yeah," Sandara confirmed, "You have to be there by nine o'clock, okay?  The florist already has the list of flowers that I want.  All I need for you and Jiyong to do is to check up on the flowers and make sure that they're in top condition.  I don't want any flaws in any of the flowers."

Jessica agreed, "Okay.  I need to get going now.  I need to get ready to leave soon."

"Okay, have a great day!" Sandara said that then hung up.

Jessica put down the phone on her bedside table and gave out a loud grunt.  She didn't want to see Jiyong again.  Most importantly, she didn't want to go to that flower shop.  She trudged her feet against the soft rug floor to her closet and pulled out an outfit.  She pulled out a beige dress and a pair of gold heels.  She jumped into the shower and got ready as quick as she can.

When Jessica drove to the flower shop, chills ran through her whole body.  She slowly parked her car next to the curb and saw that Jiyong was already waiting out in the front for her.  He had sunglasses on to hide his reddened eyes from his hangover.  He wore a dark red scarf around his neck as he casually leaned on the wall to the flower shop.  Jessica stepped out of the car and walked towards the door.

"Sica ah, I wanted to apologize for last night," Jiyong quickly said, "I don't remember what I did, but I think I had a dream that I told you something..."

"You didn't tell me anything," Jessica responded, "I just picked you up, dropped you to your house, and then left.  You didn't tell me a single word."

Jiyong remained silent as he followed Jessica into the flower shop.  As soon as they both entered the flower shop, a flood of memories filled their brains.  Jessica ignored the memories as Jiyong reminisced about the times.  He swallowed nervously to see two familiar faces again.  Jessica felt her heart melting as she saw her friends again.  Since Jiyong left her, she had absorbed her life into her career and her family.  The only friends that she kept in touch with was Yoona because she was her sister and Tiffany because Tiffany worked with her.

The two petite ladies' faces grew serious as they saw the two walk in together.  They stopped what they were doing as their eyes began to well up in tears.  They both ran up to Jiyong and Jessica and hugged them tightly.

"Sica, I haven't seen you in four years!  We live in the same city, but you'd always reject my offers to hangout!" the woman cried out.

Jessica felt her breathing getting heavier as she saw her friends again.  Back in college, there was nine of them that practically ruled the campus.  Yoona and Jessica, along with seven other women, were the envy of any woman.  They were considered to be the most beautiful women on campus.  Jessica felt guilty for shunning away her friends.  Yoona and Tiffany still kept in touch with them, but because of the depression that Jessica had suffered, she refused to make contact with any more people other than Yoona and Tiffany.

Sunny and Taeyeon gave a remote smile as they removed the aprons that they were wearing.  It was hard to believe that Sunny and Taeyeon had not seen Jessica for four whole years.  Whenever they asked Yoona where Jessica was, Yoona would make excuses for her sister and claim that she was too busy to hang out.  Taeyeon's eyes narrowed as she saw Jiyong standing next to Jessica.  She gave Sunny a look as Sunny nodded with approval.

"Don't tell me that you guys are getting married!  This is great!" Sunny exclaimed, "It's okay that it didn't work out the first time!  At least you guys are engaged again!"

Taeyeon grinned, "I'm so happy for you two!  I always knew that you two belonged together.  When the marriage was called off, I was quite shocked!  You guys belong together.  I can't imagine you guys with anyone else.  I'm pretty sure that destiny brought you guys back together.  Jiyong, I know how much you love Jessica, and Sica, I know how much you care for Jiyong."

Jessica found herself in an awkward position.  She didn't want to tell them they were wrong, but she didn't want them to keep ranting about how perfect Jiyong and Jessica were for each other.  She gave a polite smile and nervously swallowed the saliva in .

"Actually, we're not getting married," Jessica clarified, "He's getting married, but I'm not.  He's getting married to Sandara and I'm just their wedding planner.  Sandara left for New York, so I'm overseeing the wedding preparations."

Sunny's eyes grew wide as she drowned in her own confusion.  Why would Jessica agree to do his wedding when they were engaged in the past?  Taeyeon felt anger at Jiyong for putting Jessica through this.  Through the nine girls, Taeyeon, Jessica and Tiffany were the ones that were closest with each other.  Taeyeon knew Jessica's pain even if Jessica didn't tell her.

Taeyeon pointed a finger at Jiyong and started to criticize him.

"How dare you do this to Sica?" Taeyeon nagged, "You already know how much pain she is in, and you have the guts to make her your wedding planner?  Have you gone crazy?"

JIyong scratched his head and had no reply for Taeyeon.  He didn't know how to explain the situation that they were in.  Jessica decided to step in for him and explain the whole situation to Taeyeon.

"Unnie, it's okay," Jessica told Taeyeon, "I guess we weren't meant to be.  I already accepted it a long time ago.  All I know is that he is not the right guy for me and I'm not the right woman for him.  He's moved on, and I moved on, too.  The relationship that we have now is strictly professional."

Taeyeon looked into Jessica's eyes and knew that she was lying, so she decided to stay bitter towards Jiyong.  She pulled out a bunch of flowers and showed Jessica and Jiyong the group of flowers that Sandara wanted.  Sunny organized them as Jessica looked through the flowers.  Sunny then walked up to Jiyong and pushed a dozen of lilies in his hands.  Jiyong looked confused as Sunny gave a hopeful smile.

"This is for your mother.  She used to come here all the time, but now that she's sick, she can't.  Taeyeon and I took care of these lilies for her.  We hope that she gets better," Sunny bowed.

Jessica tilted her head with confusion to hear that Jiyong's mother was ill.  When Jessica dated Jiyong, she met his whole family.  In fact, she made a friend when she met his family.  Jiyong's sister became one of her closest friends and was included with the nine women that practically ruled the campus back in their college days.

Jiyong grabbed the assortment of white and pink lilies and bowed to Sunny in appreciation.  Sunny gave a polite smile and walked back.  Jessica had to say goodbye to her friends.  Although she had not seen them in over two or three years, she promised to catch up with them and they exchanged numbers.  Jiyong watched Jessica give them her number.  It was weird to know that she changed so much.  Jessica was the type that always treasured her friends and she never would have let them drift apart from her.  Jiyong figured that the breakup had a huge impact on Jessica.  She absorbed herself in her work and she shunned away some of her friends.  When Jiyong and Jessica went outside, Jiyong was surprised that Jessica had not went straight to her car to drive as far as possible from Jiyong.  Instead, she lightly tapped his shoulder.

"If you don't mind, I would like to see your mother," Jessica said.

Jiyong shook his head, "You don't want to see her.  She's too weak."

"I need to see her!  I feel bad for abandoning her for four years.  She was like a mother to me!" Jessica exclaimed, "I just need to see her."

"You really don't need to see her," Jiyong repeated, "You don't have to carry the burden of visiting my mother.  We're not together anymore, so there's no need to impress her.  It's okay.  I know you're a busy woman, so you should just get back to work."

Jessica rolled her eyes and knew that he was going to visit his mother to give her the flowers that Sunny and Taeyeon put together for her.  Jessica grabbed his keys to his car and unlocked it with the remote.  She sassily walked to the passenger seat and sat down willingly.  She put the car in the ignition and started the car.  She poked her head through the open window and snapped her delicate fingers in the air.

"Hurry up, Jiyong!  We don't have all day!" Jessica yelled.

Jiyong saw her stick her head back into the car and was stuck in his own confusion.  When had she gotten so demanding?  When they were dating, she had never been this fierce.  He lowered his head as he walked towards the driver's side of the car.

As he walked to the driver's side, he muttered in a low tone, "Damn, she's so y."

Jessica stepped out of the car and analyzed her surroundings.  She stretched because it was a forty minute drive.  It turned out that house was practically isolated from other residents.  Surprisingly, he had brought her to a luxurious house.  It wasn't big enough to be called a mansion, but it was fairly too large for only two people to be living in.  Jiyong's sister and mother lived in there and it was hard to believe that they upgraded from an old apartment to a grand house.  Jessica saw the huge white house in front of her and she couldn't help but notice the beautiful garden in the front.  The grass displayed a healthy shade of green while the flowers decorated the front yard.

"Your mother must have planted these," Jessica said softly.

To Jiyong's surprise, she swiftly opened the wooden gate's door and ran towards the door.  She rang the doorbell about twice and waited impatiently.  It seemed as if she was very excited to see Jiyong's sister and mother again.  Jessica saw a flawless face when the door opened.  Jessica threw her arms around the young woman and gave her a warm hug.  The woman's eyes bulged out to see Jessica again.

"Unnie?  Is that really you?" she asked.

"Yes, Yuri!" Jessica nodded, "It's me!"

Yuri jumped up in excitement as she hugged her friend again.  She had not seen Jessica since Jiyong had unexpectedly left her.  Yuri's hands trembled to see Jessica again.  Of course, Yuri noticed the changes in Jessica.  She seemed more mature and it was as if the innocence and purity she once had was robbed from her.  She looked like the type of person that was awfully serious to others.  The most notable change was Jessica's hair.  Yuri noticed how it changed from brown to blonde.

On the other hand, Jessica noticed positive changes in Yuri.  She had a smile on her face that looked completely genuine.  Her aura was so bright and welcoming that it made Jessica happy.  Jessica was happy that Yuri was satisfied with her life. Yuri looked out the door and saw her older brother walking towards the door.  A baffled expression stuck to Yuri's face as she realized that they went to the house together.

"Uh, oppa...and unnie...you guys are...together?" Yuri scratched her head.

"Of course not," Jessica shook her head.

Yuri cried out, "Then why are you two together?"

"It's a long story," Jessica smiled, "Can I go inside to see Jisun?"

Yuri nodded as Jessica jogged into the house.

As soon as Jessica was out of sight, Yuri slapped her brother on his shoulder.  Jiyong winced at the pain as he gave her a stern look for slapping him.  He rubbed his shoulder with his hand as Yuri began to lecture him.

"Oppa, I know that you're older than me, but you're not thinking reasonably!" Yuri exclaimed, "You already know that you broke her heart, and to bring her here again...it's just unacceptable!  You're bringing her hopes up.  She's one of my closest friends, and you can't do this to her.  It's not fair, and to add on to that, you're already dating Sandara sshi."

"It's a long story.  I don't even know how I ended up meeting her again," Jiyong sighed.

_________

Jessica ran up to the living room to see a woman in her fifties watching television.  Jessica giggled to herself to see that she was watching a drama in which Yoona was the leading actress.  The old woman clenched her fists together as she began to yell at the flat screen television.

"Run faster!  Don't let him catch you!" she yelled out.

Jessica mumbled softly, "Jisun ah..."

The woman turned around and felt as if she was going to have a heart attack when she saw Jessica again.  The relationship that Jisun and Jessica had was something that no one could explain.  Jisun treated Jessica as if she was her daughter.  When Jiyong and Jessica were still together, even he couldn't figure out their relationship.  It was just weird.  They practically agreed over every single aspect or subject.

"Omo, Jessica, you're here!  You abandoned me for four whole years!  I didn't hear a word from you ever since!" Jiyong's mother called out.

Jessica observed the aged woman and noticed severe changes in her appearance.  Kwon Jisun was the widowed mother of Jiyong and Yuri.  Jessica and Jisun got along well because of their similarities.  When Jiyong introduced Jessica to her family, Jisun felt attached to the young woman because of her personality.  Jisun claimed that Jessica was just like her when she was younger.  They were both polite, ambitious, kind, and generous.  They also set their priorities in life.  Jessica was a bit shy to admit that she had personally changed from the woman that Jisun met more than four years ago.

"I'm sorry," Jessica apologized, "I thought that you wouldn't want to see me again."

Jessica thought that Jisun wouldn't want to see her anymore because she wasn't going to be her daughter-in-law anymore.  Jessica held back the tears she desperately wanted to shed.  She felt horrible for shunning away all of her friends because of what had happened to her.  She felt stupid for letting go of her social life.  She sniffed and gave the elderly woman a hug.  Jessica looked around the living room and made sure that Jiyong and Yuri were not in the room.

"I thought you wouldn't want to see me because the wedding got canceled," Jessica admitted in a soft tone.

The old woman patted the top of Jessica's head.

"I wanted to see you even more to check up on how you were.  My son was such a jerk for leaving you.  Nonetheless, I will continue to look at you as if you were my real daughter," Jisun smiled, "And plus, I hate his new fiance."

Jessica's eyes widened to know that Jisun hated Sandara.  Sandara was the woman that everyone loved in Korea.  Yoona and Sandara were household names in Korea and you would be considered to be living under a rock if you didn't know who those two were.

"Why?  She's beautiful," Jessica muttered, "And she's perfect."

"She's not perfect for my Jiyong," Jisun shook her head, "She wants her life to be perfect.  She's an idealist and she imagines that her life will go on as if there are no problems whatsoever.  She ignores the fact that there is struggle in this world.  I wouldn't blame her.  She was born into a very rich family, so she's sheltered.  I just don't like her for my son because I know that she doesn't truly love him.  She only thinks she loves him because she thinks that he's the closest thing to the perfect man.  I could list her all the things that make him imperfect!"

Jessica giggled to herself as Jisun's eyes lightened up.

"He's the worst drunk ever!  He still sleeps with his teddy bear!  He's possessive with what is his!  He's horrible at cooking!" Jisun listed.

Jessica finished it for her, "He can't even boil water!  And plus, he gets overly jealous over every single thing!"

Jisun gave a grin as she stared at Jessica.  She knew that Jessica had put up a front to protect herself from others that could potentially hurt her.  Jessica acted as if she didn't care about Jiyong, but she knew for a fact that he still owned her heart.

"I bet that if Sandara knew all of these things about him, she would leave him in a heartbeat.  You, on the other hand, wanted to marry him through all of his imperfections," Jisun murmured gently.

Jiyong continued to suffer abuse in the hands of his younger sister as Yuri punished him for bringing Jessica home.

"I'm sure that she's still angry at you for leaving her!" Yuri lectured, "I can't believe that you can do this to her!  Do you want her to relive all the good memories that you two had together?  When umma sees her, I bet she will burst into tears to see her again.  You already know how much umma hates Sandara.  She's going to continue to compare Jessica and Sandara after this!"

Yuri blushed as she realized that she was still wearing her pajamas.  She didn't have a chance to change because right when she woke up, she began to help the maids clean the house.

"I'm going to my room to change," Yuri said.

Jiyong nodded and watched his sister walk off to her room.  He knew why she was upset.  She never wanted to admit it, but she was upset because of the fact that she had a broken friendship.  Yuri never wanted to blame it on her brother, but she felt that if they had got married, Jessica and she wouldn't have lost contact with each other.

Jiyong walked slowly to the living room and realized that his mother and Jessica were having a conversation.  His eyebrows arched together to hear them both listing all of his flaws.  He was shocked that Jessica still remembered things about him.  He gave a curious stare as he saw the smile that he fell in love with on Jessica's face.  His heart was punched with a flood of memories.

Flashback (Jiyong's POV)...

I don't know why, but I had gained so many insecurities ever since I got engaged to Jessica.  When we began dating, a few insecurities arose.  When we were official, they doubled.  When we got engaged, they tripled!  I know that I shouldn't be worrying about anything because I know that she's faithful, but I can't help but pay attention to my insecurities.  My friends, Seunghyun and Seungri, teased me for looking at the mirror for more than ten minutes.  I was trying to perfect my hair so that I could impress Jessica.

Seunghyun and Seungri lounged on the couch as I tried to shush them.

"I have to look perfect," I stated.

Seunghyun scoffed, "Listen, I'm glad that you finally have a serious relationship, but dude, you're acting like a woman.  I never heard a guy worry about how he looked.  Are you wearing the pants in the relationship or is Jessica wearing them?"

"Shut up, hyung!" I ignored his teasing.

Seungri left the dorm that I shared with Seunghyun.  After he left, we decided to finally go to the mall to meet up with Yoona and Jessica.  In the mall, we immediately spotted them.  Yoona was eating some frozen yogurt while Jessica held an ice cream cone.  I quickly jogged up to Jessica and hugged her from behind.  I kissed her cheek as she flashed a flamboyant smile.  I glimpsed at Seunghyun and saw that he lifted his girlfriend and then took her seat and set her on his lap.  She began to feed some of her frozen yogurt to him.

Before I could say a word, a man approached Jessica.  What irritated me was that he acted as if I wasn't there.  I was pretty sure that he knew that we were together, but he refused to acknowledge my presence.  Jessica gave a cautious look as she looked at the cocky man.  There were gold rings on each one of his fingers.  A long necklace hung on his neck while his collar was popped up.

"Hello there," he tried to be smooth.

I was going to interject, but Jessica stopped me by placing her hand on my chest lightly.  She stood up and gave a sarcastic smile to him.

"I'm with someone," she said politely.

He chuckled, "Yeah, but you could be with me instead.  I'd treat you better."

"I'm engaged to him," Jessica made it clear.

"Why would you want to marry him?  Look at him!  He looks as if he can't even defend himself.  I think you're too beautiful for him.  How did an angel end up with a loser like him?" the man taunted.

Without a single word, Jessica smacked the ice cream cone on the top of his head.  His jaw dropped in an instant as she smashed it with her fingers.  She then patted his head as the ice cream smeared on the top of his head.  He let out a gasp as Jessica gave a satisfied smile.  I looked over at Seunghyun and Yoona and saw them laughing and pointing at the humiliated man.

"I'm not marrying him because I think he'll be perfect.  I'm marrying him because I can see past his flaws and see him as a good person," Jessica said with anger.

I didn't think it was possible to love her more, but I just ended up loving her more after I heard her say that.  I fell deeper under her spell and it made me grateful to have a worthy fiance.  My heart was melting, and I knew that she would forever be loyal to me.  The man walked away with embarrassment as I took a tissue and began to wipe Jessica's sticky hands.  Because I was taller than her, I had to look down to clean her hands.  She looked up at my face and gave me a quick peck on the lips.

"You're the only one that I'll ever love," she whispered with a smile.

Jiyong snapped out of his thoughts.  Time flew by quick for him; he could still remember the day that they were both lovers.  Now they were nothing but mere strangers.  He leaned against the wall and realized again that Jessica and his mother was talking about him.  He cleared his throat as two pairs of eyes darted towards him.

"I can see that you two still talk about me," Jiyong said quietly.

Jisun laughed, "It's just girl talk.  Oh, Jiyong ah, my birthday is coming up.  Did you get the preparations ready?"

It took Jisun a lot to convince Jiyong to let her have a birthday celebration.  He kept arguing that she was too weak to be going out to celebrate, but after Yuri helped Jisun, Jiyong reluctantly gave in.  The worry over her health didn't dwindle one bit despite his agreement with Jisun and Yuri.

"Yes," Jiyong nodded, "Everything is set.  We'll be on that cruise by tomorrow."

Jisun's eyes narrowed as she gave off a bitter look.

"I invited Sandara.  You told me yesterday that she left for New York.  That means that she's not going, huh?  She doesn't keep her promises.  She promised me that she was going to go!" Jisun spat, "That's why I don't like her for you!"

"Umma, she has to work.  It wasn't planned," Jiyong defended, "It's not her fault."

"Yeah, whatever.  You keep telling yourself that," Jisun crossed her arms.

Jessica stood there awkwardly as Jisun continued to bag on Sandara.  Jessica could not believe that she had met someone that didn't like Sandara.  Sandara was loved by so many that it still amazed Jessica that Jisun was not one of her fans.

Jisung grabbed Jessica's hand and gave a bright smile.

"Why don't you go instead of Sandara?  It's all I want for my birthday.  We need to spend more time together!" Jisun suggested.

Jessica shook her head, "I can't.  My sister and I were supposed to go shopping together."

"Then bring Yoona!  I love her dramas.  I want to see her again," Jisun smiled.

Jessica tried to think of an excuse.  She really didn't want to go because she didn't want to be in the middle of the ocean in the same ship as Jiyong.  She scratched her head and gave a weak smile.

"I don't think that she would want to leave her husband," Jessica said.

"Bring her husband!  I haven't seen Seunghyun for many years!  Jiyong and Seunghyun were childhood friends, and I need to catch up with him. It's all set!  You, Yoona, and Seunghyun will be my special guests for my two day celebration on a cruise!" Jisun cheered.

Jessica smacked her forehead with the palm of her hand.  Jisun was always the pushy type.  She knew that there was no escape to her requests.  She also knew that Jisun was cooking up some kind of wicked scheme in her head.
