No Turning Back
Cafe Lulo"Auntie," Seol Hyun giggled gleefully, "Sung Yeol Oppa is going to be home, right?"
"Oh!" Mrs. Lee smiled, "That's right. He started his first day of work today. I better call him to come home."
"Did you tell him I was coming?" Seol Hyun asked.
"Not yet."
The awkward silence was broken when Sung Yeol's phone rang, but Sung Yeol was in too deep of a sleep to even hear the ringtone.
"Agasshi," the driver said, "Could you please pick up the phone?"
"Uh," Krystal was hesitant, but after seeing the driver's annoyed expression, she quickly picked it up.
"Hello?"
"Hello?" It sounded like an older woman's voice.
"Hi, um, Sung Yeol is unavailable right now..." Krystal didn't know what to say, "He's actually slee---"
Sung Yeol grabbed the phone.
"Helllo?" he answered.
"Uh, Sung Yeol-ah?" his mother asked, "Are you with someone?"
Seol Hyun became alarmed and pressed speaker on Mrs. Lee's phone.
"No," Sung Yeol laughed forcefully, "What are you talking about?"
"No..." Mrs. Lee shook her head, "I'm sure someone else picked up the phone."
Krystal rolled her eyes. She couldn't believe she was putting up with this. Suddenly, she saw a spide crawling up her window.
"Ah!" she screamed and the driver pulled to an abrupt stop.
"Yah!" Sung Yeol shouted at her.
"Sorry!" Krystal apologized.
Back in Mrs. Lee's car, everyone was confused by the conversation.
"Hey!"
"I'm sorry! There was a spider!"
"Alright, you two get out!"
"Ajussi!"
"Get out! I hate couples like you!"
Mrs. Lee hastily ended the call. Mrs. Kim cleared .
"I see that Sung Yeol is the same as always."
Embarrassed, Mrs. Lee simply nodded.
"Couple?" Seol Hyun thought to herself.
Krystal and Sung Yeol had been left on the side of the road.
"Are you serious?" Sung Yeol scoffed, "You got us kicked out of a taxi!"
"Not my fault!" Krystal shouted back at him, "There was a spider!"
"Let me teach you something," Sung Yeol said.
He raised his index finger and pressed it hard on Krystal's forehead.
"Ow!" she yelled.
"That's how you kill a spider."
"Whatever!" Krystal said, "Now explain to me what you're doing!"
"Ugh!" Sung Yeol shouted, "You'll understand when you get to my house!"
"No!" Krystal demanded, "Tell me now! I'm not getting myself involved into anything stupid!"
Sung Yeol was desperate.
"God, Krystal," he begged, "It's too complicated to explain right now! I promise I'll tell you once we get to my house!
"No."
"Krystal! If I tell you right now, it's gonna sound so stupid! But you'll be more convinced to help me when you legit firsthand experience my situation!" Sung Yeol went onto his knees.
"Yah!" Krystal was shocked.
He was doing this publicly.
Just then, a black Sedan pulled up behind them.
Krystal and Sung Yeol faced the car.
A short woman dressed in extravagant clothes came out of the car.
Seeing Sung Yeol on his knees in front of a girl, she was flabbergasted.
Sung Yeol slowly got up from his knees. Krystal looked at him. He seemed panicky.
"Oma..." he started.
Krystal's eyes got big.
"Oma?" she whispered to herself.
Then, a tall pretty girl came out of the car as well.
"Seol Hyun-ah..." Sung Yeol said, but this time his voice sounded almost strained.
His mother gestured towards Krystal.
"Ah!" Sung Yeol said in an obnoxiously loud voice, "Her?"
Krystal quickly bowed her head as the typical Korean formal greeting to his mother.
"Ahn youn haseyo!" she said quickly.
Sung Yeol raised her up from her bent down position and wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"What are you doing?" she hissed at him, but low enough so that nobody else but Sung Yeol could hear.
"Haha!" he laughed ridiculously loudly, "She's my girlfriend!"
"What?" Krystal exclaimed.
"Girlfriend?" The girl next to his mother gasped.
"Oh God," Krystal's mind was whirling, "What have I gotten myself into?"
