Chapter 1 - A Weird First Impression
A Complicated RegardTaehyung grabbed his blue blazer and dashed out of his room. He was late enough as it was so he didn’t bother with breakfast,
“Taehyung?” his mother scolded as he raced out of the house. “I’ll buy lunch at school, mom. Bye, dad. Bye noona, bye mom,” Taehyung shouted out, his deep and sonorous voice fading away as the front door closed. The red haired noona sipped her cup of coffee as if everything was normal.
“Why didn’t you offer to drive him to school?” Mrs. Kim asked, showing a pitiable look. “He needs some exercise,” Aejin smirked. Mr. Kim laughed from the common room. “And you’re too evil.”
The road seemed longer than usual. Was the bus stop always this far? Taehyung cursed. He was so going to miss the bus.
It was just a few blocks away. He could see the last bus of the hour from the distance. But the bus had already started its engine and the last student, who was from a completely different school by the way, held on the handle bars to get in.
The student was a boy. He had on a white shirt, a black neck tie, hanging a little looser than usual and plain black trousers. No blazer. Taehyung had no idea what school he belonged to, not that he cared.
Taehyung thought it best not to inconvenience others and let the bus go.
Damn it, he cursed. He was definitely going to miss the homeroom period.
“Why’re you late?” Park Jimin, the cute faced boy asked at the same time as the sarcastic , Min Yoongi. And before Taehyung could answer, Jimin threw a cold death glare at Yoongi, who was in front of him.
“I asked him first.”
“Grow up, stupid kid,” Min Yoongi replied which started another chain of quarrels. Taehyung wasn’t in the mood for this.
“Seriously though,” Namjoon asked, completely ignoring the noisy debate beside him. “Slept late or something?”
“More like forgot to set the alarm. Gosh, I come late one day and I get the lecture of a lifetime from the teacher. Hoseok comes late almost every single day but he rarely gets any scoldings,” Taehyung complained and sat down his seat, preparing for the next class.
“That’s because your boyfriend is a certified douche bag who never listens. It’s a wonder how he manages to get good grades like that,” Namjoon asserted and looked slyly at Taehyung. Yoongi left his bickering with the crescent eyed boy and turned to Taehyung.
“Do you tutor each other? If you know what I mean?” he wiggled his eyebrows.
Taehyung desperately tried to hide a creeping blush. Thank God Jimin interrupted. “God, Min Yoongi! Not everyone is erted as you!” he shouted. Yoongi rolled his eyes and stuck out his tongue at the boy right before him. Yeah. Real mature…
“Hey babe,” a voice startled Taehyung a little as he stood near the vending machines. “Hyung!” he said, his voice sounding clearly frightened. “You scared me.”
“Overslept last night, huh?” the taller boy said and picked up the four cans of juice from the machine. “Hoseok hyung, I can take care of that myself,” Taehyung tried to pry off the cans from Hoseok’s hands but the older pulled away.
“What kind of boyfriend would I be if I let you carry these alone?” Hoseok teased and helped Taehyung carry the cans to his boyfriend’s waiting friends. Taehyung hid a shy and contended smile. Hoseok was just the perfect boyfriend.
Teacher Choi walked in the classroom with sheets of papers in his hands that afternoon. The students groaned in unison. “Come on now,” the teacher said and lifted the papers. “Don’t you want to know who got the highest in yesterday’s test?”
Namjoon whispered, “Everyone knows it’s gonna be Taehyung.” Yoongi bit his lip and chuckled.
“And it will continue being Taehyung if you don’t try to beat him, class rep a.k.a mister everlasting second place,” Teacher Choi played along and handed out the papers to the respective owners.
So, yes. By now, it’s obvious that Taehyung’s life was pretty much perfect. He had the perfect grades, a wonderful family, amazing friends (even though they can be annoying most of the time. But hey, that’s what true friends are for, right?) and not to mention, the most fantastic boyfriend. But like every other story, Fate was a . So it had a different store in mind.
Taehyung hummed a recent song that he heard and even sang to a few of the lyrics.
Yes, you’re my only girl. Neoneun naege choego.
Neoui harureul algo sipeo, neoui han sumi doego sipeo…
He walked slowly, taking all the time to soak in the evening sun’s warmth. He had had a perfect day, so he wanted to take things slow for that moment and maybe thank the stars for letting him have such a perfect life.
The sidewalks weren’t deserted. Taehyung could see a few people on the other side of the road but he didn’t know them. So he refrained from wishing them a good evening. To get things clear, Taehyung wasn’t a socialist. He wasn’t one of those ‘happy-go-lucky’ dopes that talked to everyone and anyone. But his mom always told that it was polite to wish people so the habit stuck.
Upon seeing the white picket fence of his house, Taehyung resorted to complete his humming. His smile, however, faltered to see a stranger on the front porch of his house.
The stranger was a student, Taehyung noticed. He had black trousers on, a white school shirt and a loose black neck tie hanging about his collar. Taehyung also noticed that he had neither a bag nor a blazer in his hands so Taehyung couldn’t guess what school he was from.
What’s a stranger doing at our house? Is he one of noona’s many admirers? Taehyung thought and walked up the front yard to his house. Seeing the physical build of the boy’s body (and the red/burgundy-ish hair), Taehyung quickly brushed away the thought of the stranger being his noona’s admirers. He seemed a little too young.
“Excuse me?” Taehyung said, finally reaching his front porch, beside the boy.
The boy turned to Taehyung with a somewhat confused and surprised look on his face. And Taehyung had to admit, the male before him was just beautiful. Not just handsome, not just pretty, not just cute. He was just beautiful. Taehyung mentally slapped himself. Now, now, Kim Taehyung, you already have a boyfriend.
“Can I help you with something? Are you, by any chance, here to meet my sister or something?” Taehyung asked, his hand already on the front door handle. If the boy had said yes, Taehyung would’ve offered him to come inside and wait for some time. And if he had said no, Taehyung would have helped him find the correct house or something because he looked a little lost.
Instead, the boy before him stared at him as if he were an alien. (No, the comments from Jimin, Namjoon and Yoongi hyung about him being an alien for excelling at everything didn’t make him one.)
“You,” the boy said carefully. His eyes widened in anticipation and Taehyung found himself somewhat drawn to the stranger, copying the way his eyebrows raised in curiosity and, was that confusion?
“You can see me?”
A/N: Short one but here it is...
Future ones will be longer, Pinky promise
