Do you know what really grinds my gear? Authors not taking the advice they asked for.

I have people asking me to comment on their stories and to give some constructive criticism so that they can improve their writing in future chapters. However, what I see are the same mistakes being repeated over and over again. I mean, why even bother asking for criticism if all they’re gonna do is turn a deaf ear on what people tell them?

[Beware, it’s my personal experience, so I’m gonna get more emotional.]

I once gave constructive criticism in a nice manner, and then the author of that particular story decided to be ungrateful, and removed my comment! Like if you’re not gonna appreciate the comment I spent so much time on, then don't ask for it in the first place! Do you know that I took the time to read through all the existing chapters, then craft out a suitable criticism that will aid her in writing? Now I know that it was just a complete and utter waste of my precious time which could be used in writing my own fanfics instead. And she thought that I wouldn't notice, pfft. In the end, she just stopped writing, complaining that there weren’t many subscribers for the story. My thoughts on this? Of course you won’t gain support if you don’t correct your mistakes and continue to be ungrateful like that.

I’m sorry, I was just really mad.

Anyways, I’m not saying that everyone does that. Many of the people I give criticism to actually used it to help them to write better, so we haven’t lost hope guise!

Personally, I read every single comment and reply to every one of them, so you can be sure that I’m constantly trying to improve myself. But I’m not saying that I’m the best out there, I’m just saying that I try to put in my best effort and improve myself based on other author/reader’s comments.
