Anger Issues
Things That Annoy MeFor me, I’m not fond of authors writing in capital letters when they’re trying to show that the characters are shouting or screaming.
Let’s see, would you like it if I TYPED LIKE THIS OFTEN?
I guess not.
Or maybe THIS?
Okay, now I’m just being irritating.
I’m sorry, I was just REALLY MAD! (Okay, now I’m really crossing the line.)
Seriously speaking, I don't appreciate all the words being in capital letters because they’re just so distracting.
Yes, I know that some just want to emphasise that the character is yelling or is stressing on a certain word, but it would be better if the action was explained through words rather than capitalising.
Okay, I know that different people have different styles of writing and I won’t criticise anything on that, but try to minimise capitalising words and instead use descriptive words? I understand that it’s pretty hard to convey some emotions or stresses at times- I’m a writer too, I feel you- but there are some who repeatedly use this technique throughout the story and it can sometimes get on readers’ nerves.
Examples (based on real cases):
“You wanna go there NOW?” He did not expect this.
Preferred version: “You wanna go there now?” He stressed on the last word, certainly not expecting the last-minute decision.
“I HATE YOU!” She screamed before shutting the door in his face.
Preferred version: “I hate you!” She screamed every word at the top of her lungs before shutting the door in his face.
I don't know, maybe it’s just me, maybe it’s some of you out there too. To me, this is still not as bad of a peeve as others, so I have nothing else to say.
If you have any other issues you wanna bring up, lemme know in the comments or you can pm me in the messages if you wanna have a chapter/topic all to yourself (I’ll credit you!). Ciao!
