We Meet Again

A Silent Love, A Blind Love

Note: This chapter will be told in Kai's point of view.

The bold and italicized words are used when Kai is speaking, in this case, signing, whereas the words in quotes will be used to represent the words Hyori (you) are saying.

*********

Day after day, after day, I silently waited for her to return. I didn't know how long I've waited for years had soon passed. And before I knew it, I got to see her again.

I remember that day clearly. It was late in the afternoon when I had decided to visit the market, the last place I'd seen her several months before.

I was patiently waiting outside the market when I saw a familar figure approaching in the distance.  It's her  I thought.

As much as I had the urge to go up and hug her, I knew that I couldn't.  And as much as it hurt, I could only stand there and watch.

When we were literally inches apart, more than ever I wanted to reach out and grab her hand, but I resisted the urge when I noticed a familar black car parked outside the market.

Slowly, the feeling I had felt seconds before began to disappear. Great, what are these bastards doing here? I thought angrily.  Though I already knew the answer, I couldn't be certain.

While keeping a close eye on the two goons standing outside the doorway, I decided to follow Hyori into the market.

*********

I had been following Hyori around for hours now, but not once had she taken notice of me. As much as it hurt, I kept quiet silently wishing she knew I was there watching her.

Though I was heartbroken, I still managed to smile for it had been awhile since I had last seen her with memories of our past in my mind.

Put into deep thoughts, I didn't notice she was gone until I had finally snapped out of my daze.

With a feeling of dread, I dashed for the door hoping to find her before those bastards did. I frantically scanned the diameter of the parking lot until I spotted her retreating figure in the distance.

Realizing she was safe, I sighed in relief until I noticed that the traffic light had turned red with her already halfway across the intersection.

Without thinking, I raced towards Hyori pushing her out of the way just in time before both of us tumbled to the ground.

Surprised by my sudden actions, Hyori remained still from under me, her eyes frightened. It was then that I realized she was blind.

Seeing her so helpless broke my heart. I wanted to hold her, to comfort her, to tell her that it was going to be alright, but all I could do was break down and cry. Seeing her like this, I couldn't help but blame myself.  Tears began dripping down my face as I silently broke down.

Suddenly, I felt a gentle hand my cheek. I stopped crying.

Lifting my head to look at her, I saw her lips part.

"What's wrong?" she asked, "why are you crying?" I didn't respond.

Though her lips moving, no sound come out. All I could hear was dead silence. As much as I wanted to answer her, I chose not to speak.

"Because I hurt you, Hyori-ah... Because of me, you suffered" was what I wanted to say, but no words came out.  I'm sorry, Hyori-ah... It's better if you didn't know. I thought.

Still on top of her, I realized my position before awkwardly getting off of her. As I had done so, I hissed in pain as I felt a tantalizing throb on the side of my ribcage. With the the loss of a lot of blood, I began to feel dizzy as I was about ready to pass out.

"Omo, is that boy alright?"  "Oh my goodness, look at his hand!" Crowds of people began to form as they began to whisper and point at me. And among them, two particular figures stood out as they began to advance towards me. Crap.

Realizing I had to get the hell out of there, I quickly grabbed Hyori's hand as I began pushing my way through the crowd. Without looking back, I made a run for it with the two men hot on our trail.

*********

I didn't know how long we've been running, but I knew it wasn't safe to stop. Though the constant banging against my ribcage hurt like hell, I was determined to protect Hyori from those men. I didn't know who had sent them, but I knew they meant trouble, and damn were they persistant.

Noticing they were catching up, I began to quicken my pace. I didn't know how much longer I could take it, but I knew I was running out of engery fast. Still, I managed to press on. We're almost there, Hyori-ah... Please bare with it just awhile longer...

Spotting a dark alley way in the distance, I continued to guide Hyori through the darkness hoping the shadows would conceal us. Leaning against a run down building, I checked for any signs of life. When I spotted no movement, I emerged from my hiding place with Hyori by my side as I sighed in relief.

This hadn't been the first time I encountered them, and I knew it certainly wouldn't be my last.

As minutes pasted, I found it odd how not once had Hyori questioned me of where I was taking her. Did she know? Shaking the thought away, I took out my house key from my pocket and began unlocking the door.

When we entered the house, I finally let go of her hand as I searched for the light switch. When the lights came on, I began taking off my coat as I noticed she was still standing in the same place I had left her looking confused more than ever.

As much as I wanted to console her, I couldn't speak. Without using my voice I had to think of another way I could communicate with Hyori without blowing my cover.

Getting an idea, I took her hand as I began tracing characters in the air with her fingers. Her eyes widened as she received my message.

We're safe now. This is my home.

Understanding my words, she began speaking at a pace where I couldn't quite catch what she was saying.

Grabbing her hand for a second time, I signed: Can you please slow down? I can't understand you.

She looked confused, "Wae?"

Because I can't hear you... I'm deaf.

Her eyes widened as she bowed apologetically. "Mianhae, I didn't know," she mouthed. I smiled.

It's okay. I'm used to it  I reassured her.

Seeing that she was in an uncomfortable position, I decided to change the topic.

Are you hungry? Would you like something to eat?  She nodded her head, "Yes please."

But just as I was about to head towards to kitchen, I suddenly stopped when I felt a strange tingling in my upper region. Without warning, an agonizing pain in my side began to kick in as I struggled to suppress the pain.

Clutching my side, I failed to hide the pain as I doubled over, the floor soon covered in blood. The last thing I remembered, was a loud ringing in my ears before I out.
