"Appa? Could you please tell me about umma?" My only son asked me. I smiled and brought him closer to my chest and kissed the top of his head. "Aright. But before I start, why did you suddenly ask about your umma?" I said looking at his eyes that resemble mine. "Well, Uncle Joonmyeon always tells me how much you and umma were so in love before and after you had me. He also told me that umma was really pretty." He answered me with a smile. I smiled back and nodded at him. "Yeah. Uncle Joonmyeon's right boo. Your umma was the most beautiful woman that I'd ever seen." He smiled at me and told me to tell him more. And I did.

"When your umma and I weren't so busy with work, we'd go out and have dinner. Usually she would make it a dinner under the stars." "Wow! So it's like a picnick then?" "Yup! Now she would bring the food and I bring the blankets and wine." "Did you guys get drunk?" "Not really. We'd just drink and laugh at the stars while sharing everything we want to tell each other." "Oh." 

"But did you know, during our Anniversarry, I proposed to your umma?" I shook my head and furrowed my brow. "I think Uncle Myeonnie told me something about you proposing to umma, but not really detailed." I told Appa. He just smiled and ruffled my hair, making me pout, and continued. "Well guess what? I did. I gave her a somewhat handmade present that had the ring in it." "And you knelt down and asked her to marry you right?" Appa nodded. "What happened next Appa?" "Well, the next thing was well........we started planning for the wedding of course! That's where my brother, your Uncle Joonmyeon, came in. He helped us with the things we need for the wedding." I nodded with an eager expression and kept urging Appa to continue. "And well........I guess I could tell you this.." He started with a tone I couldn't really say what it was. "Your umma and I had you earlier than what we expected meaning, you were born before we got married." He said. I nodded before asking him the question I always wanted to ask. "Appa, how come I don't remember being with umma?" He sighed and told me the reason why I couldn't remember anything about umma or even being with umma.

"Some days after you were born, the doctors told me that your umma wanted to tell me something." I looked at him with tears starting to fill my eyes. "At first I asked if anything was wrong, but the doctors just led me to yours and your umma's room. 

When we all got there, I felt my heart being squeezed painfully when your umma, Kyungsoo, was lying on the bed with a sickly pale complexion. At first I asked her if she's alright, but all I got was the last smile I'd ever received from her." "Didn't she say anything?" "She did. She said "It seems that I'm sick and I only got weeks." I started to panick because I had no clue how to survive without her, especially since you were just a really really young babe back then. 

I got sadder at the thought of you growing up without a mother and just a father by your side, but your umma always knew the right time to cheer me up with the right words." I finally let the tears stream down my face as I listened to my voice crack. Jongdae, my son, turned around on my lap and hugged me. "Appa, could you please tell me umma's last words?" He said with a soft voice. I smiled sadly and cleared my throat before telling him Kyungsoo's last words for me and Jongdae. 

"She said that she really believes that we're the greatest thing that ever happened to her, and that she loves us very much." I decided it's alright to cry my heart out now, and I did until I fell asleep with a part of her beside me. "I just hope you don't fall inlove because there's just too much too lose. I'm only telling you this because life can do terrible things."

The next day, we both woke up with lighter hearts and decided to visit the woman that made us long for. "Appa, does Kyungie umma have a picture there?" Jongdae asked me. I smiled down at him and nodded, "She does HeungDae, don't worry! You'll finally be able to see the most beautiful woman in my eyes" "Ew." I chuckled at our little mix and carried him on my shoulder like a little potatoe sack. "KYAAAAAAAH~ APPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Jongdae squealed. 

"Annyeong Kyungie umma!!!!! Wah~! You're really pretty umma! No wonder Appa fell I love with you!" I said while cleaning umma's picture frame. "Kyungsoo-ah, our HeungDae is becoming more like Baekhyun noona each day! I'm starting to get a headache because of him!" Appa whined on the side. "I thought you said Aunty Baekkie was exactly like umma since their sisters?" "With their cooking Jongdae-ah, with their cooking. Not personality. Bake noona's exactly like their brother, Chanyeol hyung." "But isn't Uncle Yeol like a beagle?" "Yes. And so are you and Baek noona. I think I should call you three the Beagle-Line. Is that alright with you Soo?" Appa asked umma. "If it is, please umma by all means, haunt Appa for the rest of his life." I added, feeling my 'troll-Appa mode' turn on, making Appa groan.

Life can do terrible things, but we 're given the choice to walk away.
