Fade

Yunho loved it when his mornings ran so smoothly. With his headphones in his ears he didn’t have to listen to the meaningless chatter around him. This time he’d double checked to make absolutely certain that all of his books were in his bag before he left for school, and there were no slow idiots blocking his way. Nothing could make his morning better.

Bobbing his head along to the beat playing through his phone, Yunho entered his school to make his way to his locker. To his surprise, the boy he’d seen the morning before was waiting for him. Kim Jaejoong. Yunho had forgotten all about their encounter as the day went on. Their paths didn’t cross throughout the day, which was why Yunho was surprised to see the other senior there.

                “Good morning.”

Pulling his ear bud from where it sat in his ear, Yunho smiled at the other male. “Hey Jaejoong. What’s up?”

Twisting the straps on his bag, Jaejoong shuffled his feet a bit before looking back up at Yunho. It had taken him the entire previous day to find out about the boy whose name was written on his chest in permanent marker. Hell, Jaejoong only learned the name because it was written there. It was hard to date a person that didn’t seem to be around.

Switching out the books he needed, Yunho finished preparing for his day before closing his locker and turning to the other boy still standing there quietly. So this was where the shyness came from. “Do you need anything?”

Jaejoong didn’t know what to do. No one had ever written their name on him and then didn’t pursue him to the fullest. This was just… different. In the end, he shook his head.

Smiling at the shorter male, Yunho nodded once before heading for his classroom. “See you later then.”

Standing in the middle of the hallway and just blinking at where the man he was supposed to be dating had been standing, Jaejoong couldn’t comprehend what had just happened. Yunho had just walked away from him. The boy was obviously not taking Jaejoong seriously. At least he now knew where the other ate lunch.

Yunho couldn’t quite shake the feeling that he’d been missing something. Jaejoong couldn’t have just been waiting to tell him good morning. There was no point in that. Unless… Naw, the boy couldn’t think that Yunho had been serious. After all, he’d told Jaejoong he could have a break. That and Jaejoong was beautiful. There was no reason for him to want to waste a week on someone like Yunho. No point really.

The fact that Yunho hadn’t been completely serious about the whole thing was the reason he hadn’t told Changmin about the encounter or the fact that Jaejoong bore his name for the week. He couldn’t tell Changmin about this morning’s weird encounter without having to explain everything, so the senior just pushed everything away and focused on his morning classes.

Lunch rolled around, causing Changmin to whine until he and Yunho finally left to go meet Karam and eat out at the table they always ate at. Most kids crowded the cafeteria. Yunho didn’t want to be a part of the chaos. Instead, they ate outside at a small picnic table. The weather was usually just right. When it did get colder out, they ate in a back hallway.

Changmin and Karam didn’t care where they ate as long as they could eat together so they just followed Yunho wherever he went. The fact that it was just the three of them every day made Yunho and Changmin pause when they saw someone that wasn’t Karam already at their table.

                “Jaejoong?”

With a smile already in place, Jaejoong looked up to greet Yunho. He wasn’t surprised at all to see Changmin since he’d known that the younger boy in their class would be with the man he was dating for the week. “Hello.”

Returning the smile, Yunho continued to approach his table. He liked Jaejoong. His encounters with the male hadn’t been anything except pleasant. There was no reason the other senior couldn’t eat with them. “Are you going to eat with us today?”

Biting on his bottom lip, Jaejoong nodded. The boy couldn’t help but be pleased that he wasn’t being asked to leave. Everything was so different from every other week. Usually whoever had written their name on him was doing everything possible to make him like them. This time, Yunho didn’t seem overly interested, which left everything up to Jaejoong. “If it’s okay.”

“Of course!” Yunho didn’t hesitate to settle in his usual seat. Karam wouldn’t be too much longer and Yunho was hungry. “Did you bring anything good to eat? My mom packed me a sandwich today.”

Blushing, Jaejoong slid one of the two lunchboxes in front of him over to Yunho. “I actually brought you some.”

The sandwich in his bag was absolutely not what Yunho wanted to eat. The fact that Jaejoong had brought him food made Yunho grin like an idiot. “Oh wow! Really? Thanks man!”

Jaejoong blinked a few times before smiling back. “You should try it first before thanking me. It might taste horrible.”

“Naw, it’ll be great because you made it for me. I mean, my mom made me this sandwich, but your lunchbox is going to be a thousand times better than that sandwich. I’ll definitely love it.”

Changmin felt as though he was missing something. There was no reason for Jaejoong to suddenly be eating with them or brining Yunho food. “What’s going on?”

Yunho looked up to find that Changmin was still several feet away from the table. He had to swallow past his first bite of food, which Yunho thought was delicious, to answer. “What do you mean? We’re eating. Come on.”

Shaking his head, Changmin looked from where Jaejoong was eating quietly to where Yunho was eating like a pig. “No, I mean, why is Jaejoong here and you’re so okay with it? I thought you didn’t know how he was yesterday.”

Shrugging, Yunho shoved some more rice in his mouth before trying to answer. “I didn’t know who he was yesterday. I know who he is now though. So come eat.”

                “This is weird.”

                “I’m not sharing.”

“I wasn’t going to ask you to.”

                “Liar.”

Jaejoong couldn’t help but giggle. The two were definitely good friends.

Looking at the food that Jaejoong had brought for Yunho now, Changmin had to admit that it did look rather good. “Jaejoong hyung, bring me good food like that, too.”

Scowling, Yunho halted mid bite to point at Changmin. “No way! You already had your week and you wasted it.”

Checking Jaejoong’s hands to see if he was correct in his sudden understanding, Changmin was puzzled to see that they were blank. “Hyung? You aren’t dating anyone this week?”

Jaejoong couldn’t help but fidget in his seat. A couple of other students had asked the same question before trying to write their names on his hands. The man had been forced to explain that the name was written somewhere else that week and that he was, in fact, taken. “I am.”

Chocking on his food, Yunho hit his fist against his chest. So Jaejoong was serious. Well, this was interesting. “He is.”

Lifting an eyebrow, Changmin looked between the two older seniors to see them shyly making eye contact. “He is?”

Showing his blank hands, Jaejoong looked back over at the younger boy. “His name just isn’t written here.”

Leaning back in his seat, Changmin crossed his arms over his chest before shaking his head. “I don’t want to know. I really don’t want to know.”

Jaejoong turned bright red before laughing.

Yunho chocked again. “It isn’t anywhere like that, you idiot! I wrote it on his chest!”

                “His chest?”

Nodding, Yunho motioned to the spot where he’d written his name. Looking at it now, he had markered the letters right above Jaejoong’s heart. Huh. He hadn’t meant to do that. “I was giving Jaejoong a break from having people trying to woo him. He gets the week off.”

Cocking his head to the side, Changmin studied Jaejoong’s amused expression before turning back to his other hyung. “So you aren’t serious?”

Scoffing, Yunho crossed his arms to match Changmin’s stance. “Of course I am. I’ll be really upset if he cheats.”

Mortified, Jaejoong turned to the male he was sitting beside. “I won’t!”

Smiling back at Jaejoong, Yunho couldn’t help but ruffle the boy’s hair. The blond locks were definitely as soft as they looked. “I trust you.”

Changmin could not wait to tell Karam. Their hyung was an idiot.

I had to go through each of my subscription to find this piece of art and I'm more than glad I did! I fell in love with 'Yunjae's love' in this story when I read it for the first time and I'm sure that I'll be forever in love after reading it for the second time. .. I think I'll find myself here again and again in the future! I must say this story has a charm that doesn't allows your mind to forget about it.
