Chapter Fourteen
My other HalfThis chapter is MY chapter. That's the one I wrote about first, before I decide to start this ff.
This is only because of this one that I decided to write.
This is the main event indeed... Well I hope you won't be disappointed and you will like those changes...
Although for the delay, I'm sorry, but I guess sometimes people forget how hard it is to go on without support.
Hopefully, I like this story too much to drop it, but still.

It was late in the afternoon and Changmin was standing on the wood stage, checking again the piano and the acoustic of the auditorium they were supposed to play in. Around him, a lot of people were working, all focused on their task. The sound and light technicians were setting everything up for the show. Some students were training again, checking their positions on stage with the lights, others were dancing, singing or playing once again to make their performances perfect.
Changmin and Junsu didn't join them for the rehearsal and they barely appeared during the run-through. They trained, a lot even. But not with the others. Changmin had planned everything. He had taken care of every little detail to make this work. He worked with Junsu on their début song, 'No Gain'. It had taken a long time, but Junsu was now able to sing it perfectly.
Of course, it was perfect when they were together, but Junsu slowly got used of having the two men around in the studio. At least when he didn't look at them. Since Junsu began slowly to sing more easily, they began to work to sing it live, for this short performance.
Changmin had chosen this song to make it easier for Junsu. He wasn’t really sure he was allowed to sing this in public before it was officially released, but the recording was done and the debut were planned to be soon, so Changmin knew he couldn't hesitate any longer.
It Had To work.
He had talked with the staff and asked for the lights around the public to be off and the one on stage to brighter on him, but not too strong. It always seemed to be easier in the dark. This way, he hoped Junsu wouldn't be able to see the crowd.
They also worked on a dance song, the first one they did together, in order to start their performance. Dancing had always helped Junsu to be at ease, so it might be a solution, Changmin thought.
Really, he had planned everything for this event. For Junsu.
Since everything seemed to be done – at least for the things he could do – Changmin thanked the staff and went down the stage. Junsu wasn't there yet, he and Changmin decided it would probably better for him to come right before the show to prevent from having more stress for nothing. Junho agreed and offered to bring him to some soccer game to divert his attention in the meanwhile.
Now, Changmin had few hours before the beginning of the show.
Not caring about the other people or the curious gazes from the students, he went backstage. Taking his music player off his bag, he sat on a chair and let the music fill him. Every moment he had, he was listening to the songs Junsu gave him during their first encounters. Those musics full of memories and meaning.
And the music he had chosen, one of Junsu's favourite. He played it again and again and sang along until he was sure he knew it by heart. He promised Junsu he would sing after all. So this song, he would sing it after the end show. For Junsu. As a reward for his efforts, but also to share those feelings he never said out loud. Yeah, tonight, he would confess.
“Changmin?” He heard from the door, calling him out of his thoughts.
Looking up at the guy standing in the entrance, Changmin switch off the music and took off the earphones.
“Yoochun,” he stated and gave a slight bow.
“How are you?”
“Fine. So you look.”
“Yeah, thanks.”
Silence came and none of them new what to say. Yoochun was looking around the room and Changmin waited.
“If you want to talk to Junsu, he's not here yet.” He said after a while.
“I know.” Yoochun focused on Changmin again and leaned against the dressing table. “I've been checking if everything is ready.”
Changmin nodded and let Yoochun the time to head to the main subject.
“Are you sure this is going to work?” Yoochun finally asked.
“You should know better than me.” Changmin answered.
“I can't tell,” the compositor admitted moments later. “If it was only me, I would say this is vain. But since it's you... I keep thinking that you can help him. He grows stronger and more talented by your side. I didn't tell him but I noticed the change.” he added with a smile toward Changmin.
Grateful, the younger man nodded again and returned his smile. Yoochun's face turned a bit more concerned and took a deep breath.
“It's better... However, I’m not sure this is enough to make him sing in front of so many people.”
“It has to work.” Changmin immediately answered. “He sings in front of me, you, Junho and few people of the staff already. I’m sure he can do it.”
Changmin's conviction made Yoochun smile wider. Their eyes met and the musician could see the determination and the pride in Changmin's gaze.
“We will dance together first and I'll do my best to help him, then he will sing,” he added. “It really has to work.”
Yoochun let him a moment struggle with his thoughts. He seemed to be focused, to reassure himself and Yoochun gave him the time to recover.
“I heard you and Junsu are writing a song?” he said later.
“Huh?” Changmin almost jumped on his chair and looked at Yoochun surprised. “Oh. Yeah. It's done … I guess.”
“So I heard.” He waited a bit more and called back Changmin attention on him. “Why don't you want me to listen to it?”
“It's our song...”
“I will eventually... Junsu always sings for me”
“Maybe... but until the day Junsu will actually be able to sing it, really sing it, in front of a public, I want to keep it as our song only.”
Yoochun breathed out slowly and patted Changmin's shoulder lightly. He wasn't expecting this answer but somehow, he found it touching. This dedication, those feelings, he could see them shining between Changmin's words. This was exactly what he had been wishing for Junsu since they were young. It was, but then, things would be changing a lot.
“Did you talk with the company about this event?
Changmin lowered his head and whispered a soft 'yes'. He had talk about it, but he hadn't receive any answer from them, so it might not be very useful, but at least he told them. It was even the reason he decided to participate to this in the first place. To prove them Junsu was worth their investment, prove that he could make it and they didn't waste time and money during their project.
“Then...what about you Changmin?” Yoochun asked, calling Changmin back.
“About me?”
