If the fight they experienced seemed left behind, Changmin was still convinced their relationship wasn't as normal as it should be. Not that Junsu was still avoiding him, because he didn't, nor did he seemed cold or doing grudgingly their rehearsal... not at all, more like the contrary, but something was different.
Junsu was as cheerful as he had always been, he slowly talked again to Changmin the way he used to and during their working session, he was truly pushing himself to be able to go on. He even had asked help to a vocal trainer. He never actually sang with him, but the man gave him different tips, like how to breath normally when he began to feel stress rising and how to steady you heartbeats on stage when you felt it pounding out of your chest. Until now, the advice didn't seem to be really effective, but at least, it gave Junsu more determination, and it was pleasant to see. If the problems weren't so big any more, Changmin still felt like a thing was missing. Though he couldn't point out what.
However, if Junsu was still unable to sing, Changmin on the other hand was quite convinced he fulfilled his commitment perfectly. He had followed all the orders he received from the management and went to all the classes they asked him to. But above all, he had memorized each detail of Junsu and his behaviour, like they wanted him to.
His smile, his eyes, his half closed eyelids when he was laughing, his high pitched voice when he was whining or the sweet deeper one when he was explaining something, his oblivious attitude when he was focused on a task and the genuine gentleness in his face when he was meeting someone... yeah he knew all of this pretty well by now.
Even though he wasn't really sure to understand their goal when they asked him to do it, Changmin noticed now it wasn't as difficult as he thought it would at first. Actually, it had even been a bit too easy, Changmin told himself with a slight embarrassment.
The slight warm pinch he felt when he was with Junsu might not be completely foreign to all this, he thought again with a smile.
The ringtone from his phone called him back on earth. On the screen, Yunho's smiling face from the days they were training together greeted him.
“Hyung?” he said as he picked the call.
“Changmin-ah? I don't have much time, but we will hold our first concert on Friday, I'd be glad if you could come. I'll give you ticket of course.” Yunho's voice quickly said in the receiver.
“No hello, no greeting, what is that Yunho-hyung? Did the fame go to your head already?”
“Changmin!” Yunho scolded him a bit, guilt in his voice. “I'm sorry, you know I don't mean to...”
“I'm kidding hyung, I know you're busy now. And I will come, I would have even if you didn't call.”
Changmin could almost see Yunho's smile in the other side of the line. Even if he himself had a lot of things to do now, he had been following his best friend's activity on a regular basis.
“Thank you Changmin.” Yunho whispered. “We're performing at the stadium at...”
“I know, your posters are quite hard to ignore...” Changmin explained without letting his friend going further.
“I'll send you two tickets then, come with a friend if you have one” Yunho chuckled as he teased his dongsaeng.
Changmin almost replied back that he did have friends but finally didn't. It wasn't a secret that he had never been the friendly sociable type of guy in the agency. He had lost touch with his old friends when he entered in the agency and beside Yunho, he didn't go well with the trainees there. In fact Junsu was the first one he spent so much time with during the last year. Junsu... should he ask him to go with him?
“Well, think about it. See you, Changmin~” Yunho said as he knew Changmin was thinking and he hung up.
Changmin looked at his phone and fidgeted it for a moment. The concert was in two days and now that Yunho suggested him to, Changmin really wanted to go with Junsu. Should he call him? Somehow, Changmin felt stupid, he was like a teenager worrying for a date. But Junsu wasn't one, he didn't even know if he could truly call him a friend. But yet, this was a good opportunity to get closer to Junsu. Professionally of course. And maybe to build a real friendship, nothing else, Changmin repeated to himself as he typed the number he got to know even though he barely used it.
After a short moment, Junsu picked up. “Changmin?”
“Oh Junsu!” Changmin exclaimed, taken aback, he hadn't notice the ringing stop. “How are you?”
“I'm fine and you?”
“Me too.”
The silence took place and the conversation looked quite awkward for Changmin.
“You rarely call, is there something wrong?” Junsu asked slightly worried.
“Nothing wrong!” Changmin quickly reassured him, quite please to think about the latter's attention. “I just received a call from Yunho, you remember my hyung? The one who recently made his début?”
“Oh yeah, I saw him on TV already. What did he want?” Junsu asked, his interest rising.
“Well, he invited me for his concert on Friday, and I have to tickets so I wondered if maybe... you'd want to come or something... only if it doesn't bother you of course” Changmin clumsily explained.
“Sure! I'd be happy to.” Junsu agreed joyfully.
Changmin opened his mouth, surprised. He didn't expect it to be so easy, but he was glad he did call Junsu. A rush of pleasant warmness ran through his veins and he felt unexpectedly good.
“For real? Nice!” changmin added, surprised and pleased.
“You have your acting lessons tomorrow, right?”
“I do.”
“Okay, so see you on Friday.” Junsu said.
Changmin didn't answer immediately but he noticed Junsu was visibly waiting for an answer.
“Oh yeah, see you on Friday!”
They hang up and Changmin feeling was now different from what he had had in mind all day long. Maybe he and Junsu were truly becoming closer. Maybe they were really becoming friends. Maybe they were going somewhere, Changmin thought, happier than he had been lately.
On Friday, they went to the usual training like they had to, but the result was still the same. Junsu even seemed to have more difficulties than usual to gather his mind. But lately, they had taken another path to reach their goal. They were working on the song but with the piano, together. They both knew how to play the piano, but their level wasn't as good as Yoochun's and the songs were a bit difficult for them, so they decided to train and they were improving every day.
The best part for them was that slowly, Junsu became used to sit beside Changmin on the bench as they tried play the song the best they could. They were still doing a lot of mistakes, but they managed to play with each other. Junsu was usually nodding in rhythm as if he could feel the beat in his soul, his arm brushing occasionally Changmin's on the ivory.
Changmin was very glad he had this idea, becau
