Chapter Two

The course of true love never did run smooth.

Hannah was floored. Literally. She stared up at the ceiling of her room, lying on her plush red carpet. The ceiling was grand and it even had a sunroof in it! But that wasn't what was on her mind. No, what was on her mind was much more complicated than that. Hannah was smitten. She had never seen a boy more handsome then the one she saw when they had first arrived. She didn't catch his name, but she was pretty sure it was a crime for someone to be that good looking.

She bobbed her foot to the music she was playing on her IPod doc (provided for her) and once she figured out how it worked she couldn't be more elated. Her thoughts were preoccupied with the boy she saw earlier, that smirk on his lip and that glint in his eyes, it was alluring. It was also very terrifying to her. She'd never felt so strong of an attraction before. She's never even dates a guy! Everything was so new for her.

A knock on her door removed her from her dangerous thoughts. "Come in." She called softly and the butler walked in announcing that it was time for dinner with the Royal Family. Hannah thanked him and freshened up briefly before walking down the steps. Along the way, she came across EunSeo and instantly stuck closer to her. She felt a connection to EunSeo the most out of all the other girls selected.

"Oh Hello Hannah! What do you think this dinner will be like?" Hannah giggled and shrugged her shoulders.

"Tense. I feel like MinHi Unnie won't be able to keep her temper." EunSeo sighed and lead the way towards the table. They must have been the last one's to be summoned because when they got to the dinning room all of the girls were already seated. It seemed the Royal Family had yet to arrive. The whole room was awkward. ByulHee was the first to speak.

"Hello everyone! Since we haven't introduced ourselves yet, my name is Shin ByulHee and I am 15 years old. It's nice to meet you." HaeRa smiled and took a seat next to the youngest. Seeing as she was the oldest she felt it was fitting.

"My name is Im HaeRa and I am 19 years old." ByulHee smiled at HaeRa. MinHi was the next to sit down followed by SooRyun. "I'm Park MinHi. I'm 18 and I don't like any funny business so stay out of my way and we won't have a problem." SooRyun looked to the floor and didn't dare to look at MinHi. SooRyun was greatly intimidated by MinHi. Sometimes she wished she wasn't so shy.

"S-SooRyun. My name is Jung SooRyun and I'm 17." MiKyung, Hannah, and EunSeo took the remaining seats. They were the farthest away from the head of the table. "Well I'm Choi EunSeo and I'm 18."  Hannah assumed she was next as the trend seemed to go down the line. "I'm Kim Hannah and I am 16." and lastly was MiKyung.

"I'm Moon MiKyung. I am also 18 and I have never seen a table this big in my entire life! How can it fit all seven of us in a row?" The girls laughed and nodded their head.

"I agree! You can fit the whole army at this thing!" HaeRa, ByulHee noticed, seemed to be the most friendly. She was also the oldest too, so ByulHee would make sure she respected her Unnie. Hannah giggled and they all started to make fun of the fancy and expensive items. Amidst the laughs a couch interrupted their exchanges. Instantly straightening up, they saw the butler subtly motion for them to stand up so they all did and bowed respectfully. They may not be as rich as the East sider's but they did know their manners.

MinHi watched those seven boys from yesterday walk in followed by the heads of this household. MinHi shot a glare at them all. She could practically feel and see the arrogance rolling off them in waves. Their expensive clothes made her's look like thrift store clothes. Well they were, but, they didn't need to know that. MinHi watched a boy sit across from her. He smiled slightly and it took everything in MinHi's power not to roll her eyes at this pretty boy. Sure he was handsome but she would not fall for that smile. Never.

EunSeo observed the boy across from her with curiosity. He seemed to be the most quiet of the group and the most stoic. Eunseo could not read one expression on his face. SooRyun, who was seated next to MinHi was trying very hard to ignore the intense stare the boy across from her was giving her. She felt very tiny all of the sudden.

"Welcome ladies. I hope that you've all settled in?" They all nodded their heads, afraid to speak. This lady was so intimidating! Her regal aura was no joke. "My name is Kim GaYun and this is my husband Kim SeoKi and you can call us Mr. and Mrs. Kim. As you can see, these seven boys here are dining with us. The one right across from you, SooRyun, is my son Kim TaeHyung. Any questions?" SooRyun bowed shyly and ducked her head. All this attention on her was too much.

MiKyung took it all with a grain of salt. She still couldn't believe this was all free. There had to be some type of catch. Nothing was ever too good to be true and life was definitely not a rags to riches fairy tail like this seems to be. MiKyung knew better than anyone else that life was indeed harsh. Therefore, she knew that nothing good could come of this in the end. Something would happen, she just knew it. And even so, with her illness, she never knows when her heart will finally give and she wonders if she'll be able to die at home peacefully or in those cold and lonely place. Far away from her family whom she already missed so dearly.

ByulHee looked like she was about to die from hunger. She was practically salivating at all the food that had been brought out during Mrs. Kim's speech. She felt her stomach rumble and prayed to high heaven that no one heard. But, sometimes prayers aren't answered because she saw the young boy across from her with red hair quietly chuckle and give her a taunting smirk. She narrowed her eyes.

It was MinHi was took the cake on this one, though. Mrs. Kim wanted questions? Well she could certainly provide them. "When can we eat because, quite frankly, I'm starving and don't care for this chit chat. Also, where can I smoke?" The brown haired boy next to her nearly fell over in shock. She just...that girl Mrs. Kim? Oh my god I hope Mrs. Kim doesn't wring her neck.

"Ah...of course you must be hungry. And you can...smoke...outside. Anyway shall we eat?" Mrs. Kim looked at MinHi with a look of disdain then looked back to the others and offered a small smile, but MinHi couldn't be bothered to give a . Bowing she got up and took out her pack of cigarettes and walked out the hallway and out the front door. All the while Mr. Kim looked calculating. He couldn't understand why his lovely wife personally picked these seven girls along with the others first ladies but that one girl had such an attitude. Hopefully this place could change that.

Suga or YoonGi, the boy who was now sitting across from the vacant seat couldn't believe how someone could be so rude in someone elses home. Not to mention practically showing no respect to Mrs. Kim. You just simply didn't do that with that woman. Out of all their mother's Mrs. Kim was by far the nastiest. She had a pleasant outward appearance, but inside she was as fierce and heartless as a lion. Rap Monster or NamJoon on the other hand couldn't stop the smile from forming on his face. This girl had guts, he'd give her that, and she wasn't that bad looking either. He was thankful for the entertainment.

EunSeo and HaeRa looked horrified at MinHi's behavior. They sincerely hoped Mrs. Kim doesn't think badly of all of them. Whether MinHi realizes it or not her behavior reflects all of them, not just her.

"As the oldest girl, I sincerely apologize for MinHi's behavior Mrs. Kim, I will have a talk with her." Mrs. Kim offered a small smile and seemed appeased with HaeRa's statement. HaeRa sighed and dug into her food. She, in all honesty, had no control over MinHi. She had only said she'd have a talk to somewhat salvage the tense atmosphere, as the only sound that could be heard throughout the dinning room was the clinging of silverware and plates, and the occasional sentence of "Pass me the rice." etc.

Dinner had ended, thankfully, without much of a problem after MinHi returned. She paid no mind to the stares and acted as if she never said anything at all and had been there the whole time. NamJoon was definitely impressed and seemed to ignore the intense stare of MiKyung who couldn't help but silently admire his face. His blonde hair went perfectly with his darker skin and his eyes were so deep. She could get lost in them forever she felt like.

Once the adults had left the boys suddenly changed. Their backs slouched, their shirts came un-tucked, and NamJoon actually leaned back while putting his feet on the table.

"You sure have balls, you know that?" Jin said absolutely appalled by this girl. MinHi shrugged. She didn't have any words for any of them.

"Hey cutie, wanna come to my room later?" EunSeo laughed. Did she look like a cheap ? Sure she was wearing makeup, a dress, and heels but that didn't mean she was just like the 's this playboy surely slept with. Hannah on the other hand felt saddened. She didn't know why, but his little comment to EunSeo had made her tense. She should have known a boy as handsome as him wouldn't like an inexperienced girl like her. She couldn't help but feel slightly jealous of her Unnie.

"I'm sorry but you're not my type. I don't date short guys." V and Jungkook laughed at Jimin's furrowed facial expression. SHORT? He was still taller than her in heels. Sure compared to his hyung's and dongsaeng's he was short but he was still taller than most girls.

He definitely needed to reevaluate his approach. One of these girls would be his play toy. He most definitely would make them fall for him, but the question was, who? As Jimin surveyed all the girls, he noticed the one across from him. She had been staring at him the whole time and by the way she was dressed, he could tell she didn't know left from right (if you know what I mean). He smirked. Yes, she was most definitely the perfect target.

She would definitely become his new play toy.
                                                     Kim Hannah

AUTHOR'S NOTE :  I had so much fun writing MinHi's character! It's just so easy for me to make other's angry and cause problems with her. Rima, what do you think of becoming Jimin's new play toy? Looks like you have much instore for you! Uh oh MiKyung, looks like your prince charming has the hot's for MinHi. Whatever will you do? I have many things planned for next chapter, stay tuned! If any of you are unhappy with this chapter, please PM me with questions. ALSO this is important. I already have the ending for the Borrowed Time plot line. I have it planned out now so with that being said, if you belong to this plot line, you can choose to either know how you'll die ahead of time (through PM) or you can trust me and let me surprise you. I think that's about it for this chapter. We'll see what happens next time, huh?

<-------------- Go req. from my friends shop! :) I'll make you a good trailer I promise! Even though it says 'Busy' you can still req.

Chapter 27: lmao I feel ty for being the one to say I miss this and then be delayed this long in concerns to commenting on the updated chapter. ;;
BUT- yes, even if I end up taking an indefinite hiatus, this would for sure be one of the stories that I would periodically check back in on.

I love how you open it with a statement about how hard the girls have been working with their academics- and then lead immediately into cutie-pie Byulhee literally folding a paper airplane and sending it flying to the proverbial sleeping dragon Minhi. LOL. Regardless though, seeing the camaraderie that's been built between all the girls is heartwarming to be sure!
But oh man, Byulhee does seem the perfect target considering her innocence in comparison to the rest of the girls- probably the only other viable option would have been Hannah, considering her plotline was literally called the "innocent touch".
[[Cause seriously, Eunseo (though surprised) would probably be the one to traumatize the flasher by just scornfully (and loudly) laughing at his *ahem* assets, Minhi would probably sooner beat the guy up for even trying, and the other girls- even if surprised, would probably snap out of it to either call the cops or one of the boys instead of freezing up like poor little Byul. ]]

It's hilarious how Jungkook fully acknowledges that he's been attempting to delude himself when it comes to a certain little klutz- & even more hilarious how he throws Jin under the bus in comparison. LMAO.

Byulhee is so cute LOL. Literally just pouting up at Kookie after he flicks her forehead. I'm glad to see some progression with our resident maknae couple here- and as for your inspiration for this scene, I just remembered a scene from the movie "Secretly Greatly". Where the main guy is trying to disguise himself using only random things- but the townspeople see him in literally a bra and leopard print granny shorts and accuse him of being a flasher/kidnapper. LOL.
Man, I kind of low-key follow your other stories too, but after seeing BTS's new comeback MV, it reminded me of this story that got me into your writing in the first place. I miss this one sometimes~ </3
I was wondering what was up since I hadn't seen an update for this & To Catch a Demon was in early January.

Haera and ChANGJO. YES. I SHIP IT. I love how both Jin and Changjo went out of their way to do something for her, though it shows that Changjo approached this a bit more intelligently in tutoring and reassuring her of her capabilities instead of just pretty much handing her a slightly more personalized textbook. (You still did good Jin, but Changjo did better LMAO-)
I'm waiting & looking forward for Jin and her relationship to blossom tbh

Hannah is so cute though. Her logic of maybe just liking every cute boy b/c of her age had me laughing. But whoa Jimin. You literally got no jams right now concerning the situation handling of the game and Niel. Being aggressive to a boy she's expressing friendliness to is not very likely to get you in her good graces. xD

Yoongi's persistence is slowly wearing Minhi down it looks like. It's pretty hilarious how he seems to always show up the moment she decides that she wants to break some rules. His stickler for the rules ways is certainly remaining at odds with Minhi but he's got the right idea. Toss away those gross cigs, they aren't healthy or make you look cool contrary to popular belief.

NAMJOON PLS. Jfc his mother hen antics towards Mikyung are cavity inducing. ; u ;
This ship sails itself. I don't even think more needs to be said with these two. Seriously Namjoon literally hand feeding her out behind/under a big tree from a personal bento- this is seriously some Nicholas Sparks content right here.
Come on you two you make each other's kokoros go doki doki just become a couple already-- !!

more coming in part two cause screw AFF's character limits. >C
tbh i'm shipping em more at this point
i just have a huge thing for nice guys LMAOO

wowowowow hannah
girl, you should make up your mind
tho i'd probs blush at every good looking guy too XD
seriously i can't see jimin being aggressive tho

yooo suga you did good
throw that pack of cigs away!!!
its hilarious tho LMAO
how creepy suga sounds rn xD

ahhhhhhhhhhh rapmon and mikyung
i ship this so so so much
esp caring rapmon
LMAO why so assertive tho dang
even tho it was for the best of mikyung

this si so fricking cute
i love it
that quiet jhope is slowly going away
and he's becoming more like the him that i can actually imagine haha

woohoooooo the comments finally here and done haha
really sorryy for the late comment
and that you feel so frustrated with the lack of feedback

you gave this story a lot of effort and wrote way more than most applyfic authors can ever
so major props to you!
i'll try to comment as soon as you upload a chapter the next time :)

and if you really really feel that frustrated by the chosen applicants not commenting for so long
you can give them a warning, saying you'll swap out charas or something idk
Chapter 25: ok so i actually read the chapter like a few days ago
but i didn't know hot to comment
cause everything was so sad
and just...
i knew west side was bad
i didn't think it was going to be that bad

i feel so bad for mikyung
how she's giving up on treatment cause she thinks she's being a burden
i'd feel the same as her but rapmon has a point when he says no parent feels their child is a burden
if only that was the cold hard truth tho
there was a man who has been on life support his whole life
and he heard his mom telling him to just go die because she was tired of taking care of him..
real life story. smfh
but he made it out alive and it living like a normal person now tho

(pretty sure he's gunna)
just curious on how he's going to do that?
rapmon is actually such a good natured guy
despite his initial attitude towards the west siders

besides the lego thing of course
ahh i love it so much

i love this story so much
i love the progress so far
and just, ugh
lemme love you for being so awesome <3
Chapter 25: That feeling of knowing that you can't afford something but is stuck there due to circumstances is something I'm familiar with.
Mikyung's mentality, while I can see where she's coming from, is heartbreaking. Sure, having people know and pitying her would probably not be something she would be ecstatic over, but it's. something kind of inevitable now? Like when they all do eventually find out it's going to happen. I almost think it'd be more of a blessing to allow the ones around you time to steel themselves for what's to come, though to be fair the groups are all still growing close to each other so I guess it can't be helped for now. It's ultimately up to her in the end.

Namjoon though. Oh boy, I was amused when he jumped at the opportunity to be the one visitor for her when the doctor came out to report on her condition to the collective group. His ensuing conversation with Mikyung was enlightening as well. It really is like they come from two completely separate worlds. Her trying to avoid being a burden- both emotional and financial, and him being incredulous over how seemingly willing she is to just not even fight for her right/chance to live.

and there it is though. The one thing she wants most before she dies. I would cite the movie "a walk to remember" in reference to her believing that there is no chance for someone with.... a permanent expiration date to have someone be willing to love and marry them. That last line from Namjoon's perspective sounds very promising- though saddening. Since, well- I think we all know how Mikyung's story is ultimately going to end. ; ;

Even if it took something like this, it is good to see the groups coming together now. And on an off note, I love how this mutual understanding/relationship with SeoHope was spawned from a Lego set. LOL.
This was a really fast update! Thank you for spoiling us with it, and I'll be eagerly waiting to see how more of Mikyung, Haera, and Hannah's respective arcs unfold. c:
Chapter 24: I had just glanced at/ reread this about a week ago, so it's a great surprise to see you've updated it as well!
I have faith in your plans for this story, & think your decision to break the story into individual character driven arcs is a smart choice rather than attempting to mash everyones' shining moments and developments together at once.

I will admit from a purely kpop music bias standpoint I was conflicted on the two performances because I lOVE Gain's Paradise Lost (Which was a great choice for classically trained Sooryun btw) but at the same time, Crazy was my JAM for months. Regardless of Sooryun not winning, I think this was a defining moment for her, & I'm sitting here grinning on her behalf because she's finally retaken the stage after her past injury.
V's reaction though like- PLEASE. Falling out of his chair and your little "...all the blood rushed to his head (if you know what I mean)"
I literally snorted while I was eating my dinner and reading this.

Suji is still so salty after the results are announced omfg. Like girl obtain some chill please.
All this hype is going to be probably following the new girls around now, so Suji and posse better start getting used to it.
Hannah and Byulhee though- girls get it! Minhi be rubbing off on the young ones. LOL.

Oh gosh I've seen the hints leading up to this point with her weakening and constantly pushing herself for the competition, but now that she's actually collapsed in front of the other girls, I guess it's time the rest of the girls find out... and why do I feel like the boys are going to be getting home shortly to witness this all as well? OTL;; I'm super excited to see how Mikyung's arc is going to unfold tbh and am anticipating getting to see more of her interactions with Namjoon.

Thanks for the update, and like I said earlier, I have faith in your plans for this story!
props too for regularly updating this and To Catch a Demon too. Like dang man.
Chapter 24: I trust you and your plans for all of the girls tbh
the story has been awesome so far
and mad props to you for being able to update so many chapters
like thats fricking amazing

its kinda like a lil plot twist
and her covering paradise lost was just fricking amazing LMAO
she got mad balls even tho she's usually so shy and stuff
his reaction is ing priceless, he fell out of his seat LMAO i dead
surprised suga was rooting for sooryun tbh

BRUH You seriously know how to set up the stories
esp how the girls will react to finding out bout the cancer
and how rapmon gunna get more involved with mikyung

Chapter 23: Continua con la historia, esta interesante.!! *0*
