Formal Introduction

Body Language

Jiho and his mother were the first to arrive at the restaurant. He sighed as they waited for them to arrive, and it didn’t take much time till someone entered the room. Both stood up as they greeted Eunmi’s father.

“Kang Dongmin!” His mother exclaimed with a warm smile and a bow. Jiho couldn’t help but look around the room to see if his daughter was behind him. Unfortunately she wasn’t.

“Please excuse the lateness of my daughter – you know how young woman can be when they get ready for events. So tedious.” He said shaking his head.

Jiho sat back and listened to the small talk that his mother was having with the man who sat across from him. On first introduction, Jiho could tell that he didn’t like him. He had arrogance written across his face and he could tell that he was belittling his mother in his mind. He made a small face when he wasn’t looking, and sat back, trying to think of something pleasant. He began to tap his fingers against his thigh to a beat – trying to be productive.

Suddenly the door opened, and Dongmin stopped talking looking in the direction of the sound. Jiho’s head snapped up as he heard the soft clatter of heels on the hard wood floor.

“Ah – she’s here.” Dongmin said as he stood up with a grand gesture. “Please welcome my daughter, Kang Eunmi.” He announced.

Jiho stood up, in greeting and watched as an elegant young woman walked in with her head bent. She was wearing a y yet eloquent dress that accentuated her hip curves and her milky skin. She looked up then and made eye contact with his mother first – her face allowing a small smile to split the tension-ridden face.

Her face – Jiho was actually surprised to see that she was actually quite pretty. She had an air of innocence’s and purity to her – as if she never had a bad thought cross her mind. Her eyes suddenly flickered to Jiho, and her smile vanished, making Jiho feel suddenly self-conscious. Her lips parted in surprised and her eyes widened slightly, and a pink blush began to spread across her cheeks, making her pale skin look even paler. Then as soon as the surprise had eased from her face, disappointment and fear ran across her face, confusing Jiho even more.

He looked over at his mother who had a tight smile plastered on her face.

“Eunmi, how nice to finally meet you!” His mother exclaimed. She looked over and bowed politely before sitting beside her father – constantly avoiding his eyes.

“This here is my son, Woo Jiho.” She continued as she patted Jiho on the shoulder, to prompt him to speak. He cleared his throat.

“Hi, it’s nice to meet you.” He said and he could see Eunmi shiver. She inclined her head in recognition but remained silent. Jiho’s brows creased in confusion. Was she actually a mute?

“Please excuse my daughter – she is somewhat shy.” Dongmin chimed in, looking down at his daughter with a hard face.

Eunmi never looked up from her lap, and Jiho couldn’t help but feel relieved that she wasn’t one of the pompous airheads that his mother had introduced to him before. Yet, there was something mysterious about her that made Jiho want to get to know her better, if only she’d bloody look up.

The conversation continued and Jiho kept on looking over at Eunmi, only to see that she had barely moved. Then the food came, and of course she had to slightly look up so that she could eat. That is when Jiho understood what his mother said when she could reveal her secrets through her body language.

When her father picked up his knife, to cut into his stake, she flinched. Her body tensing and her eyes shutting close tight. Then she would relax suddenly, as she realized that nothing would happen and she would cautiously begin to eat – cutting into her own meal.

“So, Jiho-shi. What are you studying in university?” Eunmi’s father suddenly asked. Jiho looked up from his glass of win that he was sipping on, eyeing Eunmi.

“Ah – I’m studying Music Production and Theory at the moment.” He replied, quickly glancing over at Eunmi. He was surprised to see her finally looking up at him with a curious gaze. He could almost see the sparkles that danced in her eyes. “Do, do you enjoy music, Eunmi-shi?” He adventurously asked, an eyebrow quirked up.

opened slightly, but her fathers commanding voice suddenly silenced her. “Oh yes! My Eunmi certainly does enjoy music. She has quite the collection of classical artists.” He stated almost proudly.

Jiho looked over briefly at her father then back to her, and he could see the lights suddenly die from her eyes. She looked down again and began to play with her food. He couldn’t help but sigh.

Her father began to talk more freely now that he had some substantial amount of alcohol, and consequently his arms too began to move freely, and Jiho watched almost painfully at how tense and relaxed, only to become more tense. He lost count of how many times she flinched, and he was suddenly become angry at his mother for putting him in the position he was in. He rubbed his forehead, wanting to leave.

“Wow – would you look at the time. Eunmi, it’s past your curfew.” Dongmin suddenly said, and both Jiho and his mother looked up surprised.

Jiho looked at Eunmi, who had her eyes shut tight as if annoyed. She bowed her head, towards both Jiho and his mother, then stood and up and bowed towards her father, who just waved a hand in her direction – obviously dismissing her. Jiho swallowed the lump of anger that had risen in his throat.

“Jiho-ah, why don’t you walk Eunmi-shi to the car?” His mother said, urgently tapping Jiho’s leg under the table.

He looked over at his mother and gave her an annoyed look before getting up, and walking towards Eunmi, who had already begun to walk but paused. He gestured for Eunmi to go ahead first and they both exited the stuffy room of the restaurant. They both walked out of the restaurant and waited outside for the car to pull up.

There was an awkward silence before Eunmi finally spoke up.

“Please don’t feel burdened over this. I will make sure to not sign the contract.” She said in a quick breath. “Just continue your life as if nothing had happened tonight.” She continued, briefly looking up from her feet, only to look back down.

Jiho stood there, staring at her, somewhat dumbfounded. Her voice stirred something in hm. It was the oddest thing he had felt, and suddenly he needed to write. He had urge to compose lyrics. He continued to stare at her, trying to figure out what to say.

“So, she does speak.” He said, trying to hide his moment of admiration, with cockiness.

He watched as twitched slightly, but she soon composed herself when the car arrived. He watched as her driver walked out of the front door, only to bow low in front of Eunmi. He looked at her with almost sad eyes – giving her away. He opened the door and Eunmi turned and inclided her head briefly before stepping into the car. Adjusting her dress.

“Has master drank this evening miss?” The driver asked, before closing the door. He asked in a hushed manner, but Jiho could clearly hear him. Now it was his turn to tense up. He watched as Eunmi nodded her head and fidgeted with her hands in her lap.

“Shall we at the river until he is asleep miss?” The driver asked almost in concern. Jiho moved slightly so that he could get a better look at Eunmi, and he could now see her shaking her head and wiping her face. Was she crying?

Chapter 14: Of all I have read, this is by far the best fanfic that involves Jiho :) other ones have him being a complete , but this one shows gentle, caring sides which I really enjoy reading. Please continue when you have a chance, and I hope your study is going well!
P.s this will probably be the only fanfic I'll ever comment on, that goes to show how intriguing your ideas and storyline is. I would like to say that I hope nothing happens between Beenzino and her, but tbh everyone needs some kind of interference since Yoora is gone.
Keep up the good work! Here and at Uni :)
