"EXO is responsible for SM. Last year June, SM recorded a low profit of 29,100 won over 52 weeks. Compared to the stock record that rose to 50,900 won two months ago, it had fallen to half its original stock. However, in the same month, as EXO released their first full album ‘XOXO’, it gained explosive popularity and raised the stocks steadily until it recorded a 48% raise in 24 days, raising the stocks up to 43,350 won.
Korea’s investment researcher, Kim Siwoo explained, “In EXO’s case, as their first full album sold more than 1,000,000 copies in the past 6 months, they proved their immense fandom. They also gained an immense raise in profits with endorsements and collaboration stores, achieving sales of over 20 billion won in just four months.
EXO is scheduled to have more active promotions this year in order to shine S.M. Entertainment. For the first half of the year, they will release their 2nd full album and start into their official Chinese promotions in the second half of the year. This year, EXO is not only planning for their concert, but will also be actively promoting through broadcast shows, endorsement models, events, collaboration stores and more.
Korea’s investment researcher, Kim Siwoo explained, “There may be a possibility for them to enlarge their promotion plans through large Chinese local entertainment companies”, and “even if they were to just hold a concert in China, it is not hard to produce a concert for audiences over ten to thirty thousand people in the teenage range. The average ticketing profit of all artists range in around 960,000 won but EXO guarantees a higher success rate, so if they were to do a tour of 20 concerts, they would easily raise over 100 billion won of profit just from the ticketing process.”
