Box #14
Love BoxJiyong made his way to his office the next day, several pairs of eyes following him. Mind you, it was not the usual way these eyes followed him because today they followed him with interesting curiosity. His paisley tie is making a big hit. What’s the deal with the tie? It was just that in the last five years since he joined their corporation, this is the first time his people saw him put on a tie that is not grey or dark blue.
Personally, I think the paisley tie he wore today doesn’t look that bad and it can actually be an interesting piece of conversation -- interesting being the operative word.
There was a polite knock on his door and his secretary came in bringing him a cup of coffee and a handful of messages.
“Good morning, Sir, nice tie.”
“Morning, Kate,” he smiled, “The tie makes it less boring, huh? Okay, what do you have for me?”
“I’ve return the calls for the others before you came in; the summary is in the e-mail I sent you a minute ago. I think this one’s important and must be returned personally. Miss In Young called, she was worried she couldn’t reach you last night. She said she saw a missed call from you but could not reach you when she tried to call back.”
Jiyong looked at Kate as if to ask her why would she call him through the office phone? Then he remembered he inadvertently left his phone on his table after he tried to call her last night.
“Thanks, Kate, I’ll take care of that. Can you get some flowers delivered to her hotel room in Shanghai?” he said. Kate nodded and went out of the room at the same time he dialed In Young’s number.
The day progressed as any day would, Jiyong went on with his day’s endless activities after calling and giving In Young an explanation why he was incommunicado last night. It was not hard explaining things to In Young especially after the elevator part; he just conveniently forgot to tell her how he capped his evening in a coffee shop a block away from East Lane Street talking to a blond Asian woman who intrigued him so.
Outside the late afternoon sky was a bit overcast, a light drizzle starting, hinting that although autumn has already come, they are still in the tail end of the rainy months.
Chae rin looked up from her window seat and smiled to herself, this is one of those days she’s been waiting for, now she can wait out in the rain. She closed her book put it in her bag and cleared her table.
She went to the counter and called out, “Seungri, I am going out when the rain starts. I’ll leave my bag and stuff with you, okay? I’ll come back for it later tonight,”
“I should charge you with locker fee,” Seungri said taking her bag from her. “Hey, why are you going out when it’s raining?”
She cryptically answered, “For an experiment.”
