⚜ Tied By A Child

“Did you hear?  The loner and Lu Han are dating?”

“Ahh Jinjja!? He’s probably under some sick spell or voodoo .”

           “Why her! Of all people!?”

           “This doesn’t even make sense…urhg—my head’s hurting.”

I continued to walk through the halls with my head low, not meeting anyone’s eyes.  I pushed my way through 2 people and into the classroom where more gossip took place.  I bit my lip and walked to my desk at the corner before taking out my notebook for chemistry, my first hour.  I sighed and reached into my bag before popping another chewy candy in my mouth.  Someone pulled a chair next to me and sat down.  I was going to turn and look to see who it was, but then immediately knew who it was when he placed his hands over mines, “Why are you shaking?  Are you okay?” He asked into my hair before placing a kiss on my shoulder.

“Yahh~” I lightly shrugged him away, “people are staring…” I muttered still not lifting my head up.  He sighed loudly, “Let them stare; what did I tell you?  I don’t care, so you shouldn’t too.”  He gently grabbed my hands and kissed my palms.  “You’re too sweet, you know that?” I muttered chuckling to myself.  “It’ll hard on you when I leave…”

“You’re not going anywhere without me.”  He stated as he held onto my hands.  I scrunched my nose, “Come this August, I’ll be leaving Seoul and going to the states to study at Columbia University in New York.  I don’t plan on coming back unless it’s to get my family.”  I stated softly.  Without even looking up at him I could feel the sadness in his eyes already.  “I’ve had my heart set out to leave this place since freshmen year in high school, and I’m determined to leave, Lu Han.  I can’t continue to live in a place like this.” I added, “I’m sorry I’m telling you this super late, and at such a bad time since we just started…going out…” I muttered ashamed, “but you just need to know.”

After a moment of silence I looked up.  He wasn’t looking at me but elsewhere.  It’s okay though since I didn’t knew he wasn’t going to be happy.  Maybe this will be the end of the relationship already.  I mean, I think I’m destined to be forever alone.  “You should leave…Lu Han; class is going to start soon.”  I muttered carefully.  He moved his chair back with a scraping across the ground.  “I’ll be waiting for you at lunch.”  He said quietly and left the room just as everyone else was entering, staring at the both of us.

I was one of the lasts ones still inside the classroom.  Slowly, I stood up and put my hair into a bun.  It was getting hot now, and sitting by the window where the sun constantly shown down on me wasn’t helping a bit.  “Miyoung!”  Her irritating voice rang through the room.  I turned around to see Soojung with her group.  “What’s this going around about you and Lu Han dating?”  Soojung asked as her friends nodded naively.  I rolled my eyes.

“I don’t quite understand you, Soojung.  Why do you care if you’re going out with Sehun, unless you secretly have feelings for Lu Han or something.”  I stated firmly.  Her eyes widened before narrowing and flicking her hair aside, “I only care because Im Ahreum likes him…”  she walked forward, “Don’t mess with me, -” The word rolled off her tongue, echoing in my mind continuingly.  She towered me, no doubt.  I stood tall at 164cm while she was at least 7cm taller.

           The classroom door slid open.

           “Soojung—”

            “Miyoung-”

We both turned to see Lu Han and Sehun at the door.  Yixing poked his head in and waved before Minseok chimed in, “We’re going to the cafeteria! Hurry up!” He shouted and dragged Yixing away with him.  My eyes first fell on Sehun.  It always does.  I don’t know if it’s just-him, or because I’m carrying his baby.  Something flickered in his eyes when we saw each other before Lu Han called my name and walked towards me.

“You okay?” Lu Han asked quickly as I nodded my head before looking at him and giving him a small smile.  “I’m fine…” I smiled softly and grabbed his hands.  “Come on…” I muttered as I dragged him up front.  I couldn’t help but look at Sehun as we left the room.  He still stood by the door whether it is because of me, or he just didn’t want to get Soojung.

“I need to run to the restroom really quick…” I stated shyly.  He chuckled lightly, “No need to be embarrassed.  I’ll wait—”  “Aniya-” I objected, “—go first and buy me something to eat, I’m not that hungry so don’t get a lot cause then I won’t finish it and I’ll just feel bad.”  I murmured, “I’ll be quick.”  I stated before dashing off.

I entered the cafeteria, scanning my eyes around the room to find Lu Han.  I jumped as someone placed their hand on my lower back.  I turned quickly, “Lu Han-” I gasped.  I clutched onto my chest, “oh my goodness, you’re going to kill me.”  I stated as his pleasant laugh rang in my ears.  “I’m sorry,” He replied quietly as he led me to the back of the room.  I noticed the table where the other Exo guys sat at and gradually slowed my pace.

“Uh, uh, I’m not sitting over ther-”  “ohh-quit being a baby, Miyoung-ah~” He interrupted just as we arrive at the end of the table.  I hung my head low, now wishing I hadn’t put my hair up in a bun so that it could hide my face.  “Move down, Chanyeol.” Lu Han stated before the whole row shifted down a seat.  Lu Han smiled and nodded his head, “thank you.” He signaled me to sit before he slid into the seat next to me.  “You all already know, but this is Miyoung, Park Miyoung, and yes, we’re dating.” He state proudly, grinning like a child.

Some growled.  It raised many questions in me but I pushed it all away, having not needed to be bothered by such little things.  “Miyoung, we’re hanging out at Kris place today, do you want to come?” Kyungsoo asked down the table.  I shook my head quickly as I looked up and saw Kris.  He was tall, and handsome…extremely handsome.  How could such guys exist?  “Ani-aniya…I don’t want to-I mean, I can’t…”  I changed my excuse quickly though they caught on since most of them chuckled aside to one another.

I sighed as Lu Han leaned down to my ears, “they’re going to be teasing you for a while…fyi.”  I could feel his smirk growing bigger.  I slapped his hand under the table.  “Oh! Here, you said you weren’t that hungry, so I just grabbed you a taro bun.”  He placed it on the table before I happily took it.

“Hey! Sehun! We still have a seat for you—!”  Chanyeol shouted, waving his arms in the air as Sehun walked over with Soojung.  Her eyes caught mines and she leaned into Sehun and whispered something in his ears.  His head slowly turned before his eyes rested on me once again.  A shiver ran down my spine as his cold eyes pierced through me.  I suddenly felt the temperature drop 50 degrees.

Lu Han must’ve noticed before seconds later, he pulled me towards his warm body, placing a secure hand on my waist.  “Are you okay?  You’re shaking again…” He muttered into my hair, “…don’t worry about her…” He whispered, but it wasn’t her I was worried about.  It was him…Sehun.

I tried ignoring them, but it was kind of hard to when she was his face the whole time.  I would cringe every time a sound would escape from .  I hated her…him; yet, there was still this feeling inside me where my fist would curl up and anger would shoot throughout my body.  I don’t know if that was a response to my jealously…or my hatred for the both of them.  Though I’m leaning towards hatred because it only makes sense.

“Oppa~” Soojung whimpered, “I have to go now…I’ll see you at break again.” She giggled in her high pitch-annoying voice.  I rolled my eyes; it almost made me want to gag.  She got up and flicked her long dyed blonde hair before glaring at me and walking away.  I felt a thousand times lighter after she left.  She causes that much of a problem on me.

“Why are you so slow-AH!!”  Tao whined.  I turned my head to see Kris lightly hitting his head.  I couldn’t help but smile.  “Yah! Just go ahead then; we’ll meet you guys down there when we finish.”  Lu Han shouted next to me before everyone stood up from the table.  “Arraso!  We’ll see you guys in a bit then.”  Joonmyun stated before they all walked off towards the soccer fields.

“Lu Han…can you buy me another taro bun?” I chuckled softly.  He nodded, “Of course!  Stay here, I’ll be back.”  He stated before running off.  I sighed and rested my chin in my palms.  There was a sudden chuckle, and I turned to see Sehun still sitting in the same spot.  “What?” I hissed with narrowing eyes.  He only shook his head, “You know…you should be eating more than that.  It’s not good for-”

“Mind your own business.”  I spat as I slammed my palms on the tabletop and stood up.  I leaned in towards him, “this has nothing…nothing to do with you.”  I stated firmly, making sure he understood the rules.  “This has everything-”  “No, it doesn’t.  You made it clear when you didn’t try and stop me from leaving to sort everything out that day I told you.”  I stated firmly.  I could feel some observing eyes on us.  “We don’t need you.”

I straightened myself up and patted my skirt down flat.  “Is everything okay?” Lu Han asked as he rested a hand on my waist.  I nodded and turned away from Sehun, “Let’s go sit outside and watch them play soccer…” I stated and grabbed his hand before walking out of the cafeteria.

“Are you sure everything’s okay?” Lu Han asked again as we sat down.  I nodded and opened up the wrapping of the taro bun.  “Nope, I’m fine.”  I smiled and took a bite from it, “Go play with them.  Everyone knows you like soccer; don’t let me stand in your way.” I chuckled with a stuffed mouthful.  He pinched my cheeks, “You’re too cute, pabo.” He stated and stood up.  “Arraso…I’ll see you in a bit.”  He removed his uniform jacket, “hold this?” He muttered before I took it from him and laid it across my lap, “Have fun!” I called out as he jogged over to the field.

“Good, we’re alone again…I want to talk to you.”

I rolled my eyes, “What do you want?” I groaned annoyed.  I didn’t have to turn my head to see him shrug, “What’s your scheme?  You obviously have one.  What are you planning to do?  Stay with Lu Han so he can protect you and shower you with wealth?” Sehun chuckled.  I whipped my head to him, “If I wanted to do that, I would’ve blackmailed you, you jerk face.”  I spat.  “Lu Han’s too precious to be played with.” I muttered and turned my attention back to the soccer field.

Sehun laughed softly and nudged my shoulders, “did you go to the hospital yet?  Is it a boy or a girl?” He asked.  I groaned, “Oh my goodness! Why do you even care! I already told you I want nothing to do with you, and I’m going to make sure this baby has nothing to do with you!” I shouted and stood up.  My breathing was gradually getting fast as I walked away.  Anger boiled up inside me.

“Yah! Where are you going!” he called and jogged up next to me.  Others were staring now, but that was the least of my problems.  “The restroom!” I shouted, “damn.”  I cursed and quicken my pace.  “Oh? I’ll go with-”  “-I’m not a baby! Stop talking to me!” I stopped and turned around to face him.  I looked up at him as he looked down on me with a slight smirk across his face.

“If you didn’t understand me for the past a couple of times…let me state this again.  We, this baby and I, are not going to associate ourselves with you, ever.  I don’t need you in my life, and I don’t want you in my life.” Lies. Lies. Lies. “Stop bothering me because getting a pregnant girl pissed off is one of the worst things you can do.  I suggest you run back to your little -girlfriend and mess with her.”  I hissed bitterly.

“You’re very cute when you’re pissed—” I shoved him back hard.  He stumbled but regained his posture.  “Stop ing playing with me.  I don’t need your .” I cursed and turned around to walk away.  “Watch your language!” He shouted, chuckling along with his command.  My blood was boiling over.  After going to the bathroom, I went to see Nurse Kim.

“Goodness, I haven’t seen you here in a while.”  She stated with a smile.  I ree back to her.  “That’s because Lu Han has been around me and threatened to hurt anyone to touches me…” I muttered shyly and slouched into one of the chairs in the room.  “Well, tell me, how are you?  Have you gone to see the doctor yet?”  She beamed, clapping her hands together on the desk.

She’s more excited than I think I’ll ever be.

I shook my head, “My mother scheduled an appointment for me when I’m at 13 weeks, which is next week…so yeah.”  My smile quickly faded.  “I hate being pregnant!” I suddenly groaned, having the urge to throw out all my problems to someone willing to listen.  “Gosh, my feet hurt and my back aches all the time even though I’m not growing a stomach yet, thank goodness.”  I paused for a breath, “This is horrible!”

I could see her trying to suppress a laugh.  I scrunched my nose, “Just laugh, it’s fine.” I muttered.  She laughed just seconds later.  “Aigoo, aigoo, everything will be okay.  You of all people should know the symptoms.”  My eyebrows curled in, “I want to be a surgeon, not an OB/GYN.” I muttered and slouched back against the chair.  She shuffled some papers around her desk as I stared up at the clock against the wall.  “Break’s going to end soon.  I’m going to buy another Taro Bun and head off to class.”  I stated as I pushed myself up.  “It was nice talking to you again.” I bowed, “I’ll come back after the appointment and tell you how it went.”

She bid me goodbye as I left her office.  I walked down the hall and into the cafeteria to buy another bun before going up the 4 levels of stairs to the senior hall.  By the time I reached the 4th level, I was extremely exhausted.  I felt as if I could collapse at any moment.  I was walking down the hall by the wall just for support in case I did stumble.  Everything wavered from being focused to fuzzy from time to time.  I couldn’t tell if it was the pregnancy or this annoying humid weather we’ve been having for the past couple months.

“Don’t worry about her.  I’ll take care of it, Ahreum,”  I looked up just to collide into her.  “Offt—hey! Watch—” She amusingly laughed when she saw me.  “Speak of the devil.” She muttered before peering over my shoulders to see if there was anyone else in the hallway, which there wasn’t.  Her group crowded around me.  My back was against the wall and I clutched tightly onto Lu Han’s uniform jacket, wishing he could be here with me.

Soojung quickly snatched it from my hands.  “Why are you suddenly hanging around with Exo now?  Or why are they suddenly taking you out everywhere?” She asked, “Did you put up your front for them?  Play the innocent, damsel in distress and cast some spell on them or something…?” She chuckled at her not so funny joke.  “Here, Ahreum, hold this for your boyfriend.”  She smirked at me while twirling a strand of her hair with her finger.

They couldn’t have come at a better time?  I inwardly groaned.  I am so tired and all I want to do is sleep, and now they come and want to start trouble with me.  Sehun was enough.  I swear, I don’t even know what I did wrong!?  I would understand it if I did something so horrible, but I swear I did nothing wrong to her.

“—Miyoung!?”  I heard Lu Han’s voice down the hall.  I tipped toed up and saw him looking through the rooms.  “Soojung! Have you seen-Miyoung.”  I pushed one of the girls aside and stumbled towards him.  He looked at me with soft eyes just for a moment before they hardened and turned to Soojung.  “What didn’t you understand about not messing with her, Jung Soojung.”

We heart student voices before the halls were starting to fill up with students again. Though I kept my face hidden in his chest, I could hear Exo walking down the hall towards her.  “What’s wrong?” I heard Joonmyun’s voice ask.  Lu Han turned me around, “nothing,” he stated quickly and stepped aside, pulling me up yet another set of stairs onto the rooftop.  “Did she do anything?” he quickly asked me as the door closed with a Bam.  I shook my head, “She didn’t do anything…don’t worry.  You don’t need to worry about me.” I faintly smile as he pulled me towards his chest.

“It’s hard trying to not worry about you…” his breath tickled my cheeks as it burned with color.  He pulled me into a warm embrace.  “And is it a crime to be worried about someone I care about?” he whispered into my ears.  I could only shutter as he ran his hands down the middle of my back. “You seemed to be fine throughout all those years we didn’t know each other, I’m pretty sure you’ll do fine now.” I accidentally blurted.

He kissed my temple and pulled me closer to him.  “But I’ve always been looking out for you…” he whispered, “high school, grade 1 when you split hot chocolate on yourself…and me.” He chuckled lightly as my eyebrows furrowed, “I thought you helped me because you didn’t want anyone else getting hurt...”  I stated as he shrugged with a small smirk, “Yeah well, I was referring to you..not everyone else,” he stated and kissed my temple, “And the time at the ice cream parlor when you were with Jaehyung…” he smiled, “Are you okay though?” He sighed, “You’re a bit pale; you look sick.”  I pushed a smile, “I’m fine, didn’t I already tell you?” I chuckled lightly as he brushed my bangs aside.

“Come on, idiot, you got me late to class…” I muttered as I dragged him away.

“Thanks for dropping me off, Lu Han.” I smiled and got out of his car.  I raised a brow when he did the same.  “What? Am I not allowed to go to my girlfriend’s house?”  He asked closing the door and walking over to me as I stood frozen in my spot.  He lightly chuckled at my reaction.  Girlfriend.  Being someone’s girlfriend still hasn’t fully registered yet, especially to someone like Lu Han.

“I’m back,” I sung as I entered into the kitchen.  I looked up when I heard the door upstairs open.  “Jae! She’s back!” Eunae voice rang throughout our small house.  I straightened and stepped back, hitting Lu Han’s chest.  His hands reached for my arms and held me up.  I cleared my throat as Eunae and Jae ran down the stairs.  “Miyouung!”  “—noona!  Eunae noona is being—”

“YAH!”  Eunae turned and grabbed Jae into her arms and ran the rest of the way down.  “Umm…hello.” She stated when she noticed Lu Han’s hand on my arm.  “I’m Eunae…Choi Eunae.” She smiled and put Jaehyung on the ground.  He slipped his hands down my arms and grabbed my hands.  I madly blushed.  “I’m Lu Han, Miyoung’s boyfriend.”  He smiled and rested his chin on my shoulder.  “This is so embarrassing…” I muttered and walked away, leaving Lu Han with Eunae and Jaehyung. “Where’s mom?” I asked and walked into the store.

“Umma…I’m back..and Lu Han’s here too.”  I stated as a smile formed across her face.  “Arraso, oh! Eunae’s here with Jae upstairs.  I made some food in the fridge, heat it up for you guys to eat.  Don’t forget to drink a lot of water, Miyoung-ah.  You need to drink a lot of water when it’s hot like this.”  She stated as I nodded and returned to the house.

“Sit and make yourselves comfortable, I’ll heat some food for you guys to eat.” I stated as I dropped my bag at the door and walked towards the fridge.  His hands came from behind me and opened the fridge door before I could, “I’ll help you,” he stated lowly, “with the ba-”

“Lu Han.” I gasped and turned my shaking head, “she doesn’t know…” I muttered, “Why don’t you just go sit and talk or something…” I bit my lips, pleadingly.  “This will be quick…I promise.”  I said as I grabbed a container from the top shelf and closed the door.

“Yah~ Eunae, this is Lu Han, Lu Han this is Eunae.  She’s my best friend from Incheon who moved up here for college.”  I stated as I popped the container into the microwave.

“-I can’t believe you didn’t tell me you had a boyfriend, what kind of friendship is this?” Eunae chuckled.  Jaehyung puffed, “noona, didn’t even tell me…Lu Han hyung did…” He muttered before sticking his tongue out at me.  “Yah! Park Jaehyung!” I protested and walked up to him at the table.  He moved back against the backseat of the chair.  I scrunched my nose and opened my mouth before Lu Han stood up and held me back. “Miyoung—let’s take Eunae out today…with Jae.  We can get some bubble tea and I’ll buy you your favorite Hi! Chews.” He stated before I beamed, “Arraso!” I giggled lightly and turned at the sound of the microwave beeping.

Chapter 55: I really loved this story.. Ah at first I totally cheering for Luhan but then story suddenly took such a twist that I turned to ship her with Sehun.. I loved how you portray Soojung.. Instead of showing her like those annoying evil b***h.. You showed her as a normal mature human.. I love her character development..and also Luhan's too.. I mean instead of being that heartbroken 2nd lead he moved on and still have the same relation with Sehun and Miyoung.. And Baek too has a mature side.. That is another charm.. Like how he can be a kid but whenever Eunae behave like a kid or loose her temper he become the mature man to handle her.. Thank you for such an amazing story..
