Yakuza's Rapunzel

a/n: it's a busy Monday for me tomorrow.... wah... college! why do i love you even if i hate the workload? haha

“Noona…” Sehun whined as he clutched his head, burying his face into the sofa. “My head is going to explode, I swear.” he groaned.

Seirin patted the boy sympathetically, sitting down beside him. Sehun promptly put his head on her lap and demanded for a massage to which Seirin complied. There was just something about Sehun that she is so comfortable with. There was no awkward moment with him. Unlike how it was with his older brother.

“What happened to you and hyung last night anyway? I didn’t even notice you guys left the club if not for Lay-hyung telling me.” Sehun asked through closed eyes.

Seirin was thankful that Sehun had his eyes closed at the moment because she’s pretty sure that her face was tomato red. Just remembering what happened at the club the night before makes her feel hot with embarrassment, remembering the morning after makes her want to melt into a puddle.

The worst is she can’t completely blame what happened to Kris. She consented with the kiss. Kris’ lips were too intoxicating and she couldn’t say no. There was just something about him that kept on dragging her in. His eyes were like a deep abyss that she had fallen into, she struggled to lift herself but the resistance was futile in the end. She still had kept on falling deeper.

She could vaguely remember how Kris could barely take his hands off her during the taxi ride back home, how they end up in his room with lips attached to the other as if their lives depended on it. She remembered Kris pushing her into the bed but she can’t recall what happened after. The next thing she does remember was waking up next to him.

The only consolidation she was holding on to, and frankly it’s the only thing that keeps her from digging a hole and burying herself in it, is the fact that she woke up with her clothes still on. Sure, Kris was half-, but still.

“Noona, are you okay?” Sehun’s voice jolted Seirin from her musings. “You look red. Are you sick?”

Seirin shook her head. “I’m fine. I think I also got a slight hangover.” she smiled.

Sehun kept scrutinizing the older’s face though, reaching up to touch her forehead. “Your face is flushed. Are you sure you’re not sick?”

Seirin smiled reassuringly and gently put the boy’s head on the couch, excusing herself to the kitchen to get a glass of cold water. She needs time to think to herself.

She couldn’t help but wonder what would happen from now on. She had not seen Kris the whole morning. After she promptly pushed him off of her from the bed, she bolted out of Kris’ room, ignoring the guy’s call from the floor where he had fell with a thud. Joonmyun and Hyoyeon were already out for work while Sehun woke up a little late due to coming home at dawn. She was lucky enough that no one had seen her running from Kris’ bedroom as if it was on fire. That would have just been awkward and she’s pretty sure she would not have been able to explain herself. Heck, she can’t even think of an explanation at this moment.

What would happen once they see each other again? They live in the same house, they will have to face each other again sooner than later. What will she say to him? How will she react? How was she supposed to feel? It’s so confusing, frustratingly so. It would have been easier if Kris had not sad those words to her before the kiss. It would have been easier to brush it off and blame it on the alcohol if Kris had just kissed her and not confessed how emotionally confused he was too. Now everything is more complicated.

Sipping the frizzy water for, she let the cold liquid soothe , hoping it would soothe her mind too. She sighed and pressed her forehead on the cold surface of the fridge’s door. The cool surface is quite comforting on her warm skin and she stayed on her position for a few minutes.

“Are you really sick?” someone asked.

Seirin’s eyes went wide with shock. Well, she just would have to face her sooner than she hope she would. She turned around and tried to stand straight even though her knees were buckling under her just with his mere presence.

“I’m fine.” she replied weakly, not meeting his eyes.

Kris stepped closer and put a hand on her forehead. “Are you sure? You look a little flushed.”

Seirin would have stepped away but the fridge is behind her and there’s really no room to move. She kept her eyes low and clutched at the bottled water tightly. To be honest, she’s not sure if she wanted to run away or press closer to Kris.

“Please…” Seirin heard herself say. She’s not sure what she wants though.

Kris seemed to be lost too. With a deep breath, he took a step away, giving Seirin enough space to walk away, but he was close enough to tell her that he won’t be letting things go in a stride too. They need to talk this out.

Seirin could feel her heart beating wildly inside her chest. What was she supposed to do now? Walk away and tell Kris to forget about what had happened? That would be the most rational and practical thing, and it’s what they were supposed to do. But a huge part of her doesn’t want to forget. A huge part of her doesn’t want to walk away.

“About last night…” Kris mumbled when Seirin didn’t move after a little while. “I… I don’t really remember what happened…”

This is it, Seirin told herself. Kris will tell her that they should forget about it. That all that talk and kisses and whatever had happened after, they were all just the effect of alcohol. She half-expected, half-hoped for it to happen. But who is she kidding? However sugarcoated the words were, it’s still a rejection. And it hurts.

Before Kris could say another word, Seirin sidestepped him and went for the refuge of her bedroom. Another escape. Ironically, she had been doing a lot of that lately.

“Seirin, hear me out first.” Kris stopped her, holding her hand.

“Look, Kris. We both know that it had been a mistake. We were both a little drunk and what happened already happened. We might not remember the rest of it but let’s just leave it at that.” Seirin interrupted. She wonders how her voice didn’t falter when her chest is closing in on itself.

Kris didn’t let go however. “You’re right. We might not remember. But I definitely didn’t regret whatever had happened.”

Seirin turned towards Kris, seeing the honesty in his eyes. What the heck was he saying? She thought that he would be the one to tell her to forget. Why was he saying those words now?

Kris let go of Seirin’s hand and gave her a sincere look. “If you think I’m kidding then rest assured that I don’t know how to crack jokes, especially when I have a hangover.” he smiled sheepishly. “Seirin… I… I’ve been trying to get rid of this…whatever it is. I try to tell myself to treat you like a sister, a family. But I just can’t see you that way. Not before yesterday, and certainly not after last night.”

Seirin kept shut. What was she supposed to say? Kris’ words were a little to vague yet full of meaning at the same time, it’s hard to understand them, and even harder to take in. Her heart is racing and she’s biting the inside of her cheeks. If Kris wants her to forget or whatever, couldn’t he save her from the drama and get to the point?

“Would you just…” Seirin gave Kris a confused yet pleading look, “Just tell me what you want, Kris. Because everything that happened last night is really confusing and I don’t know what to think anymore. My life is already complicated enough. Just please… tell me if you want to forget about last night. If you feel too awkward about it, then I’d stay away, I won’t breathe a thing about it. Just please stop keeping me on edge and leaving me hanging.” she almost whined.

She didn’t expect what had happened next.

Well, she should have. After the night before she should have expected that sooner or later, Kris’ lips would take hers again.

Kris had a hand on her waist, gently pulling her towards him, clearly giving her a choice to push him away if she wants to. His other hand was on the back of her neck as he pressed their lips together. It was just a simple kiss, nothing like what they had the night before. Yet it was just as intoxicating.
When Kris had parted their lips, he had his eyes closed with his forehead resting on hers lightly. Seirin’s eyes were wide open in surprise. What was this feeling? Her heart feels so full yet she feels so light at the same time. And just because of one simple kiss.

“Seirin…” Kris mumbled, his breath caressing her cheeks. “Go out with me?”

Seirin gasped in surprise. Is he serious?

“W-what-” she stammered, she can’t even think of anything to say.

Kris opened his eyes and Seirin wanted to laugh because the proximity of their faces were causing for them to be cross-eyed. But she didn’t. Because the look of anxiety mixed with hope and sincerity in the depths of Kris’ brown orbs is just so beautiful that it drowns everything else.

“I want to try this. Us.” Kris breathed out. “Go out with me? On a date?”

Seirin felt her heart flutter once more at the request. Who was she to say no? How can she even think of saying no? To this wonderful person in front of her?

She nodded her head, beaming up at him with the brightest smile she could muster. “Yeah. I… I want to try it too… Us.”

The smile that broke out of Kris’ face was one of the most beautiful things that Seirin had ever seen. Kris slipped his arms around her and held her close, burying his face on her hair. She hugged him back just as tightly, laying her head on his chest and listening to fluttering of his heart beat. The sound of it is relaxing and comforting, soothing her ears. She could listen to it all day.

“Ahem.” someone cleared their throat.

Seirin suddenly remembered that there was actually another person in the house with them. Sehun.

Just how much did he hear? What was he thinking? Oh, my god, this is totally awkward! Seirin struggled to find the words to explain while Kris had his arms around her, practically burying her into him.

“Mind explaining this?” Sehun inquired with a raised brow.

Kris just huffed, tightening his arms around Seirin and smirking at Sehun. “Back off, little brother. She’s mine.”

Sehun rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. I already had hat figured out a few weeks ago, Einstein. Don’t tell me you just did because that would justify my theory that you’re such a big doofus, my dear brother.”

Seirin gaped at Sehun. He noticed? Really?

Kris started laughing lightly but didn’t say anything else, opting to hugging her a little more.

“Ugh, get a room! This is making my hangover worse!” Sehun scoffed and disappeared into the living room, groaning.

“Well… that was… interesting.” Seirin muttered.

“What can I say? Sehun knows me better than I know myself.” Kris mumbled.

“What about your parents? Are they… are they going to be okay with this?” Seirin couldn’t help but be anxious.

“Don’t worry. I don’t think they’ll object. As long as we act accordingly and appropriately, I don’t think that they’ll have problem with it.” Kris replied. “Although… I don’t really know if I can keep my hands to myself. You are much of  a temptation, you know.”

Seirin could feel the smirk accompanying that statement and she promptly smacked Kris on the arm. She’s blushing though. “Don’t say things like that!” she reprimanded.

Kris just chuckled and pinched her cheeks. “I like seeing you flustered, it’s so cute.”

Seirin scowled but she schooled her face into a straight one immediately. There was one thing she really wanted to clear out between them now that they are officially… dating. What a word, really.

“Last night…” she started, she’s pretty sure she’s blushing madly. “Don’t you really remember anything?”

Kris shook his head honestly. “I really don’t. I don’t even really know how we got home. But…” he trailed as he leaned in closer. “I do recall something really soft pressed against my lips. But then again, it was all blurry. Mind helping me remember it?”

Seirin is tempted, what with that predatory eyes and inviting lips. But she restrained herself. Something might or might not have happened last night, but that doesn’t mean that she’ll fall Kris charms that easy. She was serious too when she said she wanted to try it out; being with Kris.

She took a step back and smirked. “You asked me to go out with you, right? But I didn’t officially said ‘yes’ to you, did I? We are…well, let‘s just call it as a trial mode.”

Kris gaped at her in disbelief. “What are you talking about?!”

The smirk on Seirin’s face only got wider. “Take me on a date and I might give you what you want.” she teased. “Isn’t that something a guy does before a girl say’s yes to him and they’re officially a couple? You haven’t taken me to one and I haven’t really said yes to you… so…” she shrugged.

“We just kissed! And something might have happened between us last night!” Kris frowned, whining.

Seirin slapped her palm over his mouth, hissing. “Are you crazy? What if Sehun hears you? He’d tell your parents and then what would your whole family think of me?”

Kris pried Seirin’s hand away from his mouth and grinned. “They’d think that we are serious with each other and dad would freak out, mom would probably start planning our wedding, and Sehun… well he’d be his usual self because he’s the only normal one in this family besides me. So could you kiss me now?”

Seirin laughed lightly shaking her head. She smiled at Kris before giving him a peck on the lips and stepping away.

“I meant a proper kiss, Seirin.” Kris pouted.

“Take me on that date. And I’ll think about it!” Seirin giggled and went for her room.

She was feeling really lighthearted and happy. Who knew that a weird morning wake-up call would turn out to be the beginning of a such a beautiful day? Kris had practically just confessed. It might be just because of something that could or couldn’t have happened the night before, but still, he confessed.

She kept on tossing and turning on her bed, squealing into her pillow and hoping that whatever sound that goes through the fluffy thing was muffled by the door. Her phone let out a small ding as it vibrated; a text message. From Kris.

Please go out on a date with me today… :)

The simple text sent Seirin’s heart galloping with excitement. She teasingly replied that Kris is really being adamant on getting her on a date. Kris replied back that he just wanted a proper kiss, which was shortly followed by another message saying that he just really wanted to spend the rest of the day with her and if she would just please say yes already and stop giving me a hard time because he’s not as good with words as she thinks he was.

As Seirin was reading the message, she heard a soft thumping sound outside her door. She tiptoed and opened the door abruptly. Unsurprisingly, Kris was on the hallway, an anxious look on his face. She giggled and went to give him a kiss on the cheek.

“I’d love to go on a date with you.”

The bright smile on Kris’ face was worth the embarrassed blush on Seirin’s cheeks; she didn’t think that she could be so bold with such actions.

They spent the rest of the day outside. The summer sun was hot above them but they didn’t seem to notice. With the bright skies above, everything seemed to be more vivid, more beautiful. But maybe that was just because of the euphoria they were basking in.

They had lunch on one of Kris’ favorite place, and then went to shopping markets which were full of interesting items since tourists were coming in by heaps. As the day passed by, the two of them learned a little more about the other, sharing memories of the past and expressing their hopes of the future. They both wonder how one can learn so much about another person within just a few hours of spending time together, and yet how that time seemed to be too short.

The night approached soon and Kris invited Seirin to eat dinner with him before they go home and conclude their date. They went to a different restaurant this time and as she walked back home with hands clasped together, Seirin could swear that she never had such an amazing time spent with someone before, not like the time she had spent with Kris.

“I really enjoyed today, Kris. Thanks.” Seirin smiled, playing with Kris’ long fingers that was holding her own.

“So I assume that it’s okay to ask you out on another one?” Kris grinned.

Seirin chuckled. “I guess. But… shouldn’t we tell your parents before we go out on another one? I mean… it’s kind of weird having the both of us living under the same roof and be dating at the same time.” she mused thoughtfully.

Kris squeezed her hand gently, “We will. I’ll tell them once we get home.”

They walk in silence for a few minutes and soon enough they were at the house’s front door. Seirin went for the door to open it but Kris held her back.

“What?” Seirin frowned. She’s kind of concerned that Kris was delaying going into the house because he was afraid to face his parents and tell them that they were dating.

“In those sappy movies… doesn’t the guy get a kiss before the girl went into the house?” Kris teased, though the look in his eyes is soft and gentle as he held both of Seirin’s hands on his.

Seirin shook her head with a smile. “You just took me out on a date so you can have a kiss, didn’t you?”

“You’re wrong.” Kris replied, kissing one of Seirin’s hands. “I wanted to ask you something at the end of the date too…”

Seirin raised a brow. Something is nagging at her at the back of her mind as Kris’ face came closer. Her heart races as the soft look in Kris’ dark eyes even got softer if it was possible. “What do you …want to …ask…” her voice is almost a whisper as Kris’ lips were a hairbreadth away from hers.

Kris paused for a moment, looking at her eyes and lips back and forth. “Would you be… my girlfriend?” he asked in breathy whisper.

Seirin’s heart seemed to beat a million times per second and stop at the same time. The feeling is overwhelming. She had expected for Kris to ask, but hearing him actually say the words is something so unexpectedly knee-weakening and mind-blowingly heart-racing.

Before she could utter her answer though, someone called out her name. A familiar voice. She abruptly turned away from Kris and faced the person who called her. And then her eyes went wide as saucers.

“Chen.”

Kris:  *glares* Why do you like s so much? You always have these kind of scenes on your fics?
