Tip 12
Write with your /21th Century BreakdownThe thing about roleplays is that they are everywhere. AFF, RPR and some other webs like Twittar and Fadebook
I mispelled them on purpose.
My first experience with a roleplay (rp for short) wasn't very good. Like I said it was my first experience. Everyone has their first times. Anyway I joined, made a character acc (it was on AFF) then was awkward. Like really awkward. i did nothing but say hi to everyone. Because I'm awkward like that. Then I left after a week. Sorry guise ><
Recently I joined some other roleplays at Roleplay Republic (aka RPR). I started to talk to people and I'm less awkward now. Still awkward, but less. There are people who reply me with one word replies, some I continued talking to, some I just left it like that. Because really, what can you reply to a "great."?
So what's the big deal about roleplaying? I used to think it was stupid, because it wastes time and you wear a fake mask over yourself and people like you because of your mask and I didn't know what was OOC but that's another story. I realized roleplaying helps you in your writing. In what way you ask? Let's see.
You wear the mask. And if you join multiple rps at once, you have to change masks quickly. This'll help you think from your other characters' point of views better. Plus, you learn the different interactions with different personalitied people. Like how does a girly girl and a girly guy talk to each other.
If you join a 3rd POV rp, you'll have to express yourself fully so that the person you are rping with will know and see and get what you mean to type up a reply. It helps while writing in 3rd POV as well. Usually, you will know the person you are rping with, but you don't know his character. So it's kinda complicating and all, but you'll get it. Join one and see =]
Other than that, if you get really close, you might have another friend xDD
So that's it. Roleplaying helps in writing. For more details go to "How to Be an AFF Writing God" Its an awesome workshop, and I've been with it through its ups and downs even before it was featured and advertised.
The above is purely my opinion and I'd love to hear yours as well ^^
