Chapter Thirty-Two

Taemin

"Why is she still here?" I asked. I tried to make my voice sound annoyed. I didn't want her to know that I was happy to see her. I didn't want to be in a relationship with her at the moment.

"Why can't she be here?" Minho shot back in an angry voice. I couldn't blame him. After all, he was still in love with her. Maybe . . . maybe it'd be better for Gigi to go out with Minho.

"Whatever," I said. "I'm going to my room."

I dragged myself up the stairs and slowly made my way up.

"Wait!"

Why did her voice have to be so sad? I didn't want to turn around. I almost did. But I didn't.

"What do you want?" I asked, stopping at the fourth step, but not turning around.

Gigi's voice seemed anxious. "What's going to happen now? To us."

I didn't want to say it. But I did.

"Nothing. There's nothing between us anymore."

I continued walking up the steps. She didn't say anything else. There was complete silence as I descended to my room. I felt an enormous ache in my heart. I told myself that it was the right thing to do. I don't want so many complications in my life. I want to stop all the emotions that I am feeling. I just want to go back to the life that I used to have. Before Gigi. But I knew that it was a lie.

Minho

Gigi stood there, all alone, at the foot of the stairs. She didn't say anything. Nor did she cry. But there was only a thin line formed by her lips. Key gave me a go-talk-to-her look. I didn't want to intrude Gigi's life anymore, but I felt that it was best to talk to her.

"Are . . . Are you alright?" I asked, walking up to her.

Gigi turned around and gave me a small smile. "Sure, I am. I'm fine."

"Gigi, I'm really sorry that Taemin is--"

"No, it's fine," she said. "I understand. It was really nice to see you guys. I have to go now. See you later, guys."

Before Key and I could stop her, Gigi was already out the door. She turned her head back once.

"Oh, and, uh, I brought some cookies for everyone to eat. They're in the fridge."

"Gigi, wa--"

But she was long gone.

I slurped up my soup and sighed with happiness. "Ah. Mrs. Gi's vegetable soup
