The rest of the week passed with everyone conceptualizing their Music Video. We also finalized ours. It would tell the story of how a ragtag group of teenagers, who were each alone in their own ways, found a family with each other through music.
Hana was going to write the song we were going to use as a background music. Kai was going to be a dancer, Sehun and I a pair of singers and Hana a musician. The story was set out to showcase our individual talents while the video editing would try to bring our acts together in harmony.
Since our final product was due in two weeks, we were set to practice and shoot scenes little by little every after class beginning on Monday.
For now, everyone left for their homes, garhering inspirations for the coming busy week. As usual, it was just Kris and I in the campus, though I had no idea where Kris was at the moment. I had stuck myself in the forest the whole Saturday, singing while imagining that the trees surrounding me were people.
While the shooting of the Music Video didn't require an audience, it still didn't hurt to practice. The performance evaluation was getting nearer and nearer, after all.
When I had enough practice, I went back to our dorm. Coincidence enough, when the elevator door opened in the lobby, it bore Kris.
"Where are you going?" he asked as he stepped out of the elevator while I stepped inside.
"To my room?" I said as I pressed my elevator floor but held the open button in case he still had something to say.
We didn't really talk about what happened back in acting class and ever since then, Kris was more evasive than usual. It was probably to send the message to our classmates that our close interaction was nothing more than a fluke and would never happen again. I was glad. I really didn't want to worry about everyone's prying eyes.
"Well... did you eat dinner already?" he asked, but not without hesitation.
I shook my head. "But I stink and need to shower. Go ahead if you were planning to eat already." I pressed the close button.
Before the elevator doors could close though, Kris put in his arm inbetween to open it again.
He looked at his feet. "Uh, I'll wait for you." And without another word, he let the elevator door close.
I blinked at the closed doors and at Kris' uncharacteristic hesitation. Like right now?
Aish. I hurried to my room when the elevator reached my floor. I did a quick shower and changed. I wasn't really sure if Kris meant to wait for me but I rode the elevator down to the lobby anyway. Sure enough, Kris was sitting at one of the sofa. He smiled upon seeing me.
Okay? I thought. The difference between Kris' weird behavior before and now was that his weird behavior now consist of politeness, friendliness and sometimes shyness. Whereas before, it was just hot-and-cold, frowning and demanding Kris.
"You know," I said when I reached him. "You could try being consistent."
"What's that supposed to mean?" He led the way out.
"Nothing," I said, knowing he wouldn't really answer me if I asked. We crossed the school gate and walked to the direction of the restaurant we frequented. But after a few steps, I couldn't help saying, "It's just that sometimes you're uncharacteristically being nice. Like "obvious" nice, which isn't your thing. You used to be "subtle" nice."
"So you're saying you want me always being grumpy and frowning?" he asked, his voice genuinely curious.
We reached the restaurant and got inside.
"Heavens, no," I said honestly as I navigated to our table. "I like this "obvious" nice Kris. I'm just saying that you keep-" I didn't finish because I realized that the person I was talking to was no longer near me. Kris was still standing near the door while I had already reached our table. I waved him over.
Kris blinked and looked at me with confusion for a moment. Then he shuffled to our table, an obvious shyness visible in his steps as he neared me.
I smacked my palm to my forehead. There he went again. I looked around the restaurant, looking for something or someone that could have possibly caused Kris to act this way. The restaurant looked like how it always looked to me.
I sighed. "I wish you would tell me. It gets really frustrating sometimes trying to figure you out. Shall I order?" I said to change the topic, already knowing he wouldn't tell me anything.
KRIS
I let dummy order our food while I tried and failed to restart my heart. I could swear my system suddenly went bonkers when she said the words 'I like this obvious nice Kris'. To the point that I completely stopped, not e
