When Two Different Fates Entwine

GIRL   Last week had been troublesome, that's for sure. I just hope this week won't be, I thought as I headed out of my room for my first morning class.   Lu Han, Kris and I had agreed to keep the conclusion of the prank a secret from the rest except for Jieun, though Lu Han wanted Hyorin to receive some kind of punishment.   "She deserves at least that for the trouble she had caused you," he had said back in the juice bar.   "No, it's okay," I had insisted, knowing that attention–especially coming from those prying eyes–wouldn't help my situation. "I'm already happy that it finally ended."   Fortunately, Kris, who was sitting across the table understood my line of thought and immediately intervened. "She's right. Let it be."   Lu Han might be Black's leader but the tone in Kris' voice sounded so final the former finally nodded. Although the curious stare he gave Kris after that didn't escape me.   He was probably wondering about Kris' behavior. I couldn't blame him. Even I still find the not-so-distant Kris surprising.   The elevator dinged a floor below mine, revealing the guy who I had just been thinking of, his favorite blank expression in place.   "Hey," I muttered as I met his eyes.   He gave me a curt nod and went inside to take the place beside me.   As the elevator descended once more, I remembered his last words to me yesterday. We were in the elevator, too, just like now. Only then he didn't distance himself as much as he was doing now.   "The weekend is over," he had said, his eyes intently on me as if it would be the last time he'd ever look at me. "I'm trusting you not to ask questions, okay?"   Although I didn't understand what he was saying, I had managed to squeak an okay before he got out for his floor.   Now, I couldn't help glancing at him, wondering what he was thinking.   The elevator dinged again, this time revealing the lobby. There were already a couple of students lounging by the waiting area. Without another word, Kris got out first.   Since it was another week, we had another professor for our major class. Yoon Eun Hye.   "I'm sure you've already heard it from your last professor," she said when everyone was settled in. "The audition for the big play will start this weekend so you guys have to work extra hard this week, okay?"   "Yes, ma'am," we said in chorus.   The big play she was referring to was the Performance Evaluation at the end of the semester. Seeing that it was still months away, you can already guess how important it was with the kind of preparation the school was putting in.   "Alright then," she clapped her hands. "Pair up and we'll have a pronouncing exercise."   The week passed with a lot of acting exercises: pronunciations, emotion projections, a lot of blocking, etc. And juggling the other majors' exercises that were to be incorporated in our acting, our week was dizzying. I didn't have time to think about anything else besides school.   I couldn't see a single hair of Lu Han–not even in the classes we shared, though Jieun still joins me at lunch. I see Kris though from time to time and sometimes, we would exchange nods and glances.   Classes were only up to Thursday, giving us Friday to officially prepare for the audition as if the whole week wasn't enough. Nevertheless, armed with my hoodie and a copy of my recent reading material, I headed out to my favorite bench near the forest entrance early Friday morning.   "Now that I think about it, they haven't told us the title of the play yet," I mused, flipping through the pages of A Midsummer Night's Dream as I walked.   Feeling a presence nearby, I looked up from my reading material and found Lu Han sitting at the bench, grinning at me, though I couldn't help noticing the tired look on his face.   My mouth automatically curled in return at the sight of him. A week without Lu Han had been... awfully quiet and empty. I missed the guy.   "Hey dear leader," I beamed, walking to him. "Finally decided to grace this mortal your presence?"   His grin widened. "You bet." He patted the space next to him. "How've you been?"   "You know how we've all been. Tired of all those exercises. What about you? I haven't seen your shadow this week."   "Busy. Really busy." I could tell. From the way his shoulder sagged to how his eyes looked like they wanted more sleep. But despite that, Lu Han was still trying to be upbeat.   "The dorm leader's are auditioning, too?" I asked, thinking of more workloads for him.   "Everyone is. From the first year to third. The final play will have a couple of versions because the student body will be divided into character sets. I don't know how many sets yet, they haven't told us what play we're performing at the end of the semester."   "Don't you guys need a break? I mean, what do you dorm leaders do anyway?"   He chuckled. "It mostly involves paperwork. Reports. To help decide how all the dorms can act as one. Nevermind that, it's not important," he added when he saw me frowning, not getting it. "Plus, I am on a break. We get the same Friday off like you guys do."   I frowned even more. "You should sleep then. Stop talking to me," I said, shooing him away. As much as I missed him, I didn't want him wasting his free time on me when he could use it to rest.   "If you say so," he said with a smile. He scooted inches away and I thought he would go, but instead, without any warning, he leaned back and lay his head on my lap.   "Hey," I said as I looked down at him, my tone chiding.   He reached a hand, brushing a strand of stray hair off my face. "Just for a minute. Please," he added as his eyes closed.   The wind blew then, caressing his face. Except for that first time we met, I've forgotten how handsome Lu Han was, and now my heart suddenly thudded as the wind reminded me. His eyes, his nose, his lips, his whole face designed to look like that of an angel.   My eyes widened with alarm when I realized my hand was hovering over his face, wanting to trace his features. I hastily retracted it and looked around, finally realizing the position I was in.   I heav

Chapter 28: I did have to reread though I have some slight memory of certain scenes. Whatever happened to Sehun being temporary lol? I do have to say I originally guessed the girl might be Mihyun but once you brought up Miyoung...I wondered if it was Miyoung. Because it'd be a miracle for a girl who had a sign fall on top of her to be relatively unharm. And since Miyoung never goes out...doesn't that mean she stays in for some reason? Maybe when she lost her entire family, that trauma caused her to lose her memory? The only thing is Mihyun probably would call out Lulu more naturally than Miyoung who has never met Luhan and gang. But perhaps the girl that passed away in the car accident is actually Miyoung who's with her parents on the way to a hospital visit (I'm guessing Miyoung and Mihyun are twins) and Mihyun is so traumatized that she lost her memories? But that doesn't that explain Luhan witnessing Miyoung's death...it seems like he knew Mihyun might be there. So maybe the one left behind is really Miyoung.
