CHAPTER 7.1 ~

[Yoobin’s POV]  

I walked in slowly, taking in the memories that came back to my head.

*flashback*

“Hi I’m Yoobin. What’s your name?” I asked the girl who sat on the bench all by herself. She seemed lonely and so was I, so what better pair?

“Hi! I’m Sunye,” she said the first part enthusiastically but lost all signs of happiness when saying her name. it seemed as if she was pissed off about something but I made her forget it. Unknowingly, I started to smile really big.

“What’s so funny?” she stared at me weirdly.

“Nothing. It’s just that I always feel lonely when I come here so how about we be friends?”

“Sure. I would come with my oppa and my best friend but they refuse to come with me, so I come with my grandma.” she pointed over at a woman, maybe in her early fifty’s, a little further away from us.”

“Oh ok. Well now you can look forward to coming here, cause you can see me!” I said cheerfully, though it sounded like something a guy would say to a girl. She started to laugh and I joined in.

After that, we became really good friends and saw each other every week. I lived further away from the church than sunye did so we went to different schools and only saw each other on the weekends.

I got kinda scared one week though, when she didn’t come. Me, being one to jump to conclusions, thought of the worst possible scenarios. Maybe she was sick, maybe her grandma was sick, maybe her brother wouldn’t let her come, or…..maybe she found a new friend to hang out with on the weekends…I started to tear up when I thought of that. My mom came up to me with a worried look on her face.

“Yoobin! What’s wrong? Did someone say something to you? Did you get hurt?” I sobbed for a while.

[NOTE: This is when they are about seven-eight years old?=)]

“Sunye didn’t come.”

“Oh. Well that’s nothing to cry about. She’ll come. Maybe she’s busy. Come on, let’s go inside.”

I followed my mom inside but kept staring back towards the road. 

*End of Flashback*

Thank god I met Sunye. I met her, then I met Seunghyun, and I made the bestest friends in the world. Speaking of Seunghyun, where is he? I looked at my watch. It’s almost 5. He better not have forgotten my birthday!!!

*Flashback* [to this morning]

“Yobusaeyo?”

“Binnie! Happy Birthday!” 

“Aishh! Yah Sunye why are you interrupting my sleep?!” I held the phone a little far from my ear.

“Sorry…I just wanted to be first to say it…on the right day.” I could see her smiling.

“Yeah yeah. Thanks. Can I go back to sleep now?”

“Wait wait! I made a song for you!! It’s only my second time so I tried my best. Don’t criticize!”

“Whatever…Can I listen to it later? I don’t think I’ll be able to concentrate on it now.”

“Okay okay. It is your birthday so you can sleep. Don’t forget to go out with Seunghyun today!”

“Yeah. Remind me. Good night.” And…I hung up.

*end of flashback*

*sigh*

Darn that girl. Woke me up this morning. Well, at least her song was nice.

*flashback*

“Okay binnie! You ready to hear the song?”

“Sure….but before that, can I ask you something?”

“Sure. Of course you can. It’s your birthday. Ask anything you want.”

“Why are YOU so hyper on MY birthday?”

“…………Uh. I guess it’s cause it’s one of my oldest friends’ birthday so I’m just naturally happy for her?”

I hugged her really tight.

“I love you too, binnie!”

“Why do you keep calling me that? You never call me that.”

“I just wanna call you something sweet on your birthday.” 

“That’s sweet and all sunye, but you’re not my boyfriend.”

“I bet I could do a better job than Seunghyun though.”

“Yeah, I guess you would but anyways, back to your song!”

“Okay. Well, just a heads up, Yeeun helped me compose it just cause she’s better but I’ll sing it JUST FOR YOU!”

“Okay. Ready? One two three start!”

I was almost in tears.

“I love you Sunye!”

“I love you too Binnie!”

“Liar, you said you can’t confess!”

“Well, I just did! CAUSE YOU LIVE INSIDE MY HEART!”

I don’t think anyone could TOP that present, not even my own boyfriend but we’ll just have to wait and see.
