One Last Stand
Once Bitten, Twice Shy
It was high noon when Hoya finally got home the next day. Sheepishly, he entered, anticipating having to face the boys and give them an explanation.
He felt like he'd walked into a tomb. No one was downstairs. There was no sound of movement or happy conversation.
Tentatively, he walked upstairs. Still no one. Then he entered his room.
Dongwoo sat at his usual perch on the bed. He seemed to have waited for him, and he offered him a cautious smile when Hoya walked in.
"Hey, Hoya."
"Hey." Hoya waited for the topic to come up.
"So... Sunggyu told all of us the situation with you and Woohyun."
"Mm."
"...Maybe you should talk to Woohyun. He's in his room, tormenting himself. He won't talk to anyone."
Hoya nodded slowly. Nervously.
Dongwoo tried to lighten the mood. "Uh... she seemed nice? And you missed the barbecue. It was really good." He smiled, making Hoya chuckle. Hoya was so thankful for his best friend.
Slowly, he made for Woohyun's door, tapped lightly and, when no answer came, pushed it open.
It was dark, except for the light that leaked through the blinds. Woohyun had pulled up a chair and was staring out the window, at Yoona's drawn blinds.
"Hi, Woohyun."
The pale figure didn't stir.
Hoya scratched his head. "I'm... I'm sorry for this whole situation."
"No you're not," Woohyun muttered.
"Well, what am I supposed to do?? We both like her, and we decided to let her choose!" He eyed Woohyun. "Please... don't be like this."
Suddenly, Woohyun moved, turning to look at Hoya with shining black eyes.
"But, did she really choose?"
Hoya felt a weight drop in his stomach. "Uh... of course she did." But then he remembered. She never said she loved him back, and somehow that scared him.
Woohyun grinned darkly, turning back to the window. "I never told her I loved her."
"...Mwo?"
"I think... I think I'll tell her. And then, when she knows... when she really chooses... then, I'll accept her decision." Woohyun chuckled, and then looked back at his brother. "Deal?"
Woohyun stared back out the window with an eerie smile. "Nothing's over," he muttered to himself. "Nothing's over."
Hoya swallowed nervously. All of a sudden, he wasn't sure if Yoona was his anymore.
