Chapter 16
A Love, EverlastingTogether we walked to the park, the basket of food in my arms and Taeyeon carrying the blanket. The small weight in my pocket
weighed heavily on my mind. “So what did you do for the two months I was gone?” Taeyeon asked. “Besides miss you terribly?” I
responded, “I nearly starved. Thank goodness for the sandwich place around the corner from here.” Taeyeon giggled lightly. “What
else?” “Just work really. And things to occupy myself.” I answered. Finally we made it to the park, the sun beating down on us. “We should
find a nice shady spot under a tree so we can enjoy our meal.” I said, Taeyeon nodding in agreement. We made our way to the giant
oak tree near the center of the park, promptly setting down the blanket and the basket and taking our shoes off. A gentle breeze blew
through, caressing my skin.
After eating, I patted my stomach contentedly. “That has to have been one of the best meals I have had ever. Probably because
I am with you again.” Taeyeon smiled and kissed me lightly on the lips while holding my face. I smiled back, nuzzling her nose with
mine. “Hey, there is something I found here and I want to show it to you. Do you want to see it?” I asked. Taeyeon looked wonderingly
at me, “What is it? Is it pretty?” I and said “You will have to judge that for yourself.” Together we walked towards my special
corner of the park, the walk seeming to take an eternity. Finally we reached the carefully cared for patch of flowers, the brilliant hues of
reds, blues, yellows and purples jumping out, each trying to attract attention. “Whoa…” Taeyeon said, “This is gorgeous!” My face
flushed with pride at her exclamation. “Wait… It looks like its spelling something out.” I said, color rushing to my cheeks. “Really?”
Taeyeon asked before trying to read it, “Taeyeon, will you…” At that moment, I pulled the ring out of my pocket, the diamond glittering
fiercely in the sunlight. Taeyeon’s breath caught in as I finished the words for her. “Will you marry me?” I asked, kneeling on
one knee. Taeyeon sank to the ground, her eyes glistening with tears as I awaited her answer. “Yes! Yes, I will marry you.” She said
between deep breaths. Quickly, I slipped the engagement ring onto her finger before grabbing her in my arms and pulling her into my
embrace. I could still hear her muffled voice saying “Yes.” “Baby,” I said, Taeyeon pulled away, tears still running down her face, “I love
you.” At that moment she tackled me onto the ground kissing me as if she would never see me again. “I love you too.” She sighed in
between kisses.
