Unexpected

Behind the Mask

For the first time in what felt like forever Hyun Seung was alone in his apartment. A few days had past since Jun Hyung had woken up and he hadn't visited the other once since then, so he wasn't sure if the other was discharged or still recovering. While Dong Woon and Yo Seob were called back to the C.I.A. because their skills were needed for a case they had finally made a breakthrough with after two years. They both stressed about being back as soon as possible and Hyun Seung effortlessly lied about wanting them to be back as soon as possible, when, in all truth, he needed them to be away for a while so he could solve the Seung Hyun problem without their interference. And he assumed, since Doo Joon hasn't come and broke down his front door, that Jun Hyung had kept his mouth shut and that he shouldn't be dealing with any interference from the F.B.I. either.

He had promised Dong Woon and Yo Seob, before they left to go back, that he would stay inside his home, only going out if he really needed too. He lied.

Right now he found himself wondering the streets as the sun was setting. Without any word from Ji Yong or the others since their meeting and the fact that the man Ji Yong mentioned, Ki Kwang, has yet to come and meet him he had to start finding out things on his own. The first thing he wanted to find out was how Seung Hyun knew he was still alive. When he left he made sure to make it look like he was killed. Was it not convincing enough?

His first stop was to check out a bar where he knew for a fact that the men who were dealing with Seung Hyun's way of life gathered. But before he could make it to the door someone grabbed his hand from behind and pulled him back. He probably would have screamed if he hadn't found himself in that kind of situation too many times to count.

The grip was unfamiliar so he waited for the other to speak. The silence stretched on for a short while.

"I don't think it's very smart going in there." A man's voice spoke and Hyun Seung cocked his head to the side a little bit, because the voice sounded a little familiar but not enough that he could name the other, "I think every patron in that bar know your name, you'll get killed before you even take a step inside. Or so they say."

"And what does that matter to you?"

"Ji Yong sent me."

"So your Ki Kwang?"

"That or Kiki, whichever you prefer."

"If you truly are who you say you are then why haven't you approached me till now," Hyun Seung asked, "Ji Yong had given me the message that he was sending you to me three days ago..."

"They told me to stick to the shadows. They said that it was best to keep myself hidden from you until you were gonna do something stupid, Ji Yong said that you were bound to do something stupid more sooner then later."

"That sounds like him." Hyun Seung said with a bit of annoyance in his voice but he couldn't help but to crack a smile, "What did the other's say?"

"Um...Young Bae said something about you being overly curious, Dae Sung said that I shouldn't keep you couped up in your apartment while Seung Hyun...wait, I mean Seung Ri told me to play a trick on you once in a while."

"I wonder," Hyun Seung said as he realized that he had yet to see the other's face, "Is it okay if we talk face to face now or do I still have to talk to the mysterious man behind my back."

"Not yet." He could hear the smile in the other man's voice as he felt a warm hand wrap around his, "Let's see each other face to face when we get inside your apartment." Then his voice dropped down to a whisper, "Ji Yong said that I had to be careful when speaking, that the safest place is your apartment. Since he already sent Young Bae in to rid of any and all bugs."

He didn't have time to respond to Ki Kwang's words because he was already being turned around and pulled back in the direction of his apartment. He normal would have objected to the rough handling by the other but he wanted to ask questions and if the only way he would be able to get answers was to let the other take him home, so be it.

The walk to his apartment was fairly quiet, save for the random crickets or humming from the other party. And when they reached his home he had yet to see Ki Kwang's face, even as he moved forward to unlock his own door. Once the door was open the other pushed past him and towards the living room, not giving Hyun Seung a chance to see his face. He couldn't help but to pout before locking the door and following the other into the living room.

"It's you." Those were the only words he could get out of his mouth as he stared at the man in front of him, an all too familiar face that he wouldn't soon forget. The man in front of him was the man who helped him escape from Seung Hyun's mansion that night.

"So you remember me?"

"Don't you already work for Seung Hyun?"

"Not back then," Ki Kwang said with a smile as he sat, "I was hired to help you escape."

"By who?"

"The same men who sent me to you now."

"Ji Yong, Young Bae, Dae Sung, and Seung Ri? Why?"

"Well as you know, in the beginning, they treated you the same as everyone else did while you stayed at that place..."

"Like I was nothing but trash..."

"Exactly," Ki Kwang said with an excited smile, it was as if Hyun Seung was a student who just got a really difficult question right. That was the kind of reaction he gained from the shorter boy. "But as you grew closer to them you kind of grew on them and they started to realize that no one should have to go though what you do everyday. I believe, by the way they described it, Young Bae realized it first followed by Dae Sung, Seung Ri, and lastly Ji Yong. Once they realized that everything was all wrong they came out and hired me...at least that's what they tell me."

"Oh," Hyun Seung had yet another thing to thank them for, "But how did you, or even them, not get caught by Seung Hyun."

"Great planning." He smiled.

"..." Hyun Seung frowned, expecting the other to elaborate on that, "...you're not going to tell me more then that?"

"Nope," he said with the same smile on his face, "Ji Yong told me not to elaborate, that the answer will come in due time."

"Do you just follow their orders," Hyun Seung asked with a sigh as he fell back onto one of his couches.

"Yup," Ki Kwang's smile turned into a dumb, out-of-it kind of smile, "Since I'm no where near the level of beating any of the big boss man's right hand men I just go along with what they tell me."

"I know what you mean," Hyun Seung agreed but he was still disappointed in the fact that he wasn't going to get as much information as he initially thought he would, "Young Bae may be kind but with one swing of his katana you can kiss your life goodbye."

"Exactly," Ki Kwang smiled and Hyun Seung couldn't help but to frown. The other man didn't seem that bright, how'd he raise in ranks so quickly.

"Well...where will you stay for tonight?"

"I have a place," Ki Kwang said, "And since it's getting late I better head back and report." He stood and looked at Hyun Seung, "Dae Sung said to check your mail because he sent you a present,"

"At random? That doesn't surprise me in the least," he said as he stood, "I'll go with you to the lobby, I have to check the mail anyways." Ki Kwang smiled at him but raised no objections as they both headed down to the lobby, Hyun Seung with his keys in hand.

Once down in the lobby they both stopped at his mail box while Hyun Seung took everything out of his box and stuffed it in his bag; he could look through it later when he was back in his apartment. Once he had everything stuffed in his bag, with no sign of a package, he headed outside with Ki Kwang.

They stopped a few feet away from the front entrance, next to an alley way. Hyun Seung wrapped his arms around himself, the temperature had dropped at least 20 degrees since they were outside last. He turned towards Ki Kwang, "So will I be seeing you anytime soon or will you just be lurking in the shadows?" He was smiling so that if anyone had over heard them they would automatically think it was a joke, they wouldn't even think about Hyun Seung being completely serious with the question.

"Well I don't know," Ki Kwang said with the biggest childish smile set in place, "I don't know, lurking in shadows sounds so much fun!~ But I guess I'll have to show my face."

"So I'll be seeing you later?"

"Yup," Ki Kwang said with a smile before leaning in and giving Hyun Seung a small kiss on the cheek. Saying something about a good luck charm before turning and walking away. He stood there in shock for a few seconds with his hand resting on his cheek, where he could still feel the kiss. He couldn't help but to smile as he watched the other disappear into the night, it had been a while since he had received something so innocent and childish as a kiss on the cheek for good luck.

He stood in the same spot until he couldn't see any sign of Ki Kwang. Letting his hand fall from his cheek and letting it fall to the side he turned around and started to head back inside. He didn't make it that far before he felt someone grab his wrist and pull him into the alley way. How many times has this happened to me now?

He felt himself being pushed up against the building wall and he felt a little bit of fear go down his spine. Hands were placed on either side of his head and he felt hot breath brush past his cheek as the other moved closer to him. "What trouble have you gotten yourself into now?" A familiar voice asked and Hyun Seung couldn't help but to feel both relieved and weirded out by realizing who had him pinned against the wall.

"Doo Joon?"
