"Why not?" you ask, holding up a paint chip and squinting to read the color, printed finely in the corner. "You have a very nice face."

You roll your eyes, but Kris is dead serious.

"If you had a scary face, then I wouldn't have decided to have a baby with you. She'll turn out to be a gorgeous baby, don't worry."
