Donghae tends to wake up in the middle of the night, sweating and panting. The dark has always been his biggest enemy, and during this sleepless nights, his inner child just won't let him forget his primal fears of being left alone. Even though he's an adult, he can't let go of this fear - it's just too much and it hits straight into his insecurities. That's why, when he wakes up, he wants someone to simply assure him that the nightmares aren't real. As childish as it seems, a hug does the job - his worries just disappear and he's able to fall asleep again. This is the main reason why he hates sleeping alone.
And it's also the main reason why he always climbs into Hyukjae's bed. At first, Hyukjae was reluctant about the idea of sleeping together with the boy who clings onto him despite any obstacles; let it be hot weather, little space or other people's confused stares. But after many uncomfortable nights he kind of got accustomed to the warmth Donghae's body provides. Not to mention times when Donghae wakes him up with sniffling, trembling in his arms, asking for comfort. He learned to wake up with even the slightest move the younger man makes.
