Keeping the Secret
Facing RealityKahi got out of the nurses office the next day and went to her room where the teachers gave her a private bedroom for tutoring students. She sat on her bed and winced as she lay on her now fractured-for-sure wrist. She starred at her book bag for a while and thought about if she should open it and read what was inside. Was it a diary? Was it private? Was she writing stories? Is he even human to throw such punches? It all circled around Kahi’s mind and she finally made her decision. She chose to read the book. Kahi got up and took the book out of her handbag and opened it to the first page. It read:
‘This book belongs to Shim Mika from Shim Eunji and Shim Taehyun. To always write your thoughts and dreams that creates a story for the next generation.’
“Eh? Thee Eunji and Taehyun? The best authors in Seoul? What the is Mika doing in this ty school?” She thought out loud as she turned to the second page. It read:
‘Umma… Appa… this is the first time I'm writing in this book. I find it stupid at first but I thought about what you wrote and thought it was a good idea. I had a nightmare last night that had us three involved. You both were driving me to the carnival or some sort fair and the clowned came up behind me and scared me. Daddy got mad and shoved the clown away and picked me up as I was crying. I'm such a baby I know but the clown wasn’t to pleased anyway. When we were getting back to the car and driving back there was a van that was driving up behind us. It was getting to close and finally crashed into us but we kept driving. It was really terrifying. Finally the car was neck and neck with our car while the window slid down. The clown was there laughing evilly and held out a gun. We thought it was those fake guns but it wasn’t. He pulled the trigger and shot Appa in the arm. Umma you started screaming and crying trying to help Appa’s bleeding arm. You must have really loved him for doing this next part. The clown tried to pull the trigger again but when the bullet went off, Umma you sat in Appa’s lap and took the bullet to the shoulder. Appa freaked out and crashed his car into the other making them spin out of control and out of the car. The next thing I remember was me in the hospital only to hear both of you were killed… When I really woke up I only realized how real that dream was when I didn’t see you both in the house only to see a shrine in the living room with a picture of us three on the shelf with a scented stick began to burn, praying that I will come to you very soon a
