chasing starsJennie held the phone to her ear, the familiar voice of Rosie on the other end bringing a sense of comfort to her lonely hospital room.
“Jen, have some faith,” Rosie’s voice chimed, a gentle reassurance. “You never know when a shooting star might grace the sky.”
Jennie sighed, her voice laced with skepticism. “Rosie, we’ve been doing this every night, and not once have we seen a shooting star. I’m starting to think they don’t exist.”
Rosie chuckled softly, a sound that carried warmth across the distance. “Patience, Jennie. Sometimes the most beautiful things require a little waiting. Trust me, the night sky holds surprises for us.”
Jennie couldn’t help but pout, her voice taking on a playful tone. “But Rosie, we’ve been doing this for weeks! I’m starting to think the shooting stars have a personal vendetta against us. Maybe they’re avoiding our gaze on purpose.”
Rosie’s laughter echoed through the phone, a melodic sound that made Jennie’s heart flutter. “Oh, Jennie, don’t be so dramatic. Shooting stars are shy creatures. They choose their moments carefully, waiting for the perfect time to make an appearance.”
