‘Okay Joohyun just relax, you’ve taken customers’ orders a thousand times before. She’s just a normal customer… nothing different with her… except for her beautiful face, pretty eyes… and her abs. ! Focus focus focus!’ Irene snaps at herself as she grabs 2 menus and walk towards the two new customers. ‘Remember greet them with a smile. Best smile, here we go!’

She hands the menus to the girls. ‘Smile, smile, smile..’ she keeps repeating. Then her eyes meets the monolid girl’s eyes. Her brain stops functioning.

“What would you like to order?” She says in the coldest most robotic way ever. ‘Ah fudge! No no no, that’s not how I wanted that to come out! Okay okay focus, Seungwan is already giving me her order.’ Irene nods to Wendy to let her know she got her order. She then focuses on the monolid girl again. ‘Okay redeem yourself, ask her order in the friendliest way possible..’ She looks at the girl and notices the little strands of baby bangs sticking out of her forehead. ‘Omo! Too cute.. I can’t’ Joohyun loses it again. Her brain goes blank.

“What about you..?” It came out so slow and sounded lifeless. At this point she just wanted to hide under the table. She grips her pen and paper hard out of frustration. She takes a look at the cute girl again. ‘She isn’t talking… I ruined my chance for a good impression. Oh oh she’s about to say something!!’ Irene eagerly awaits what the girl will order.

“Uh.. um.. a….eee.iiii….ooo…u…..mmm” Joohyun doesn’t understand what the girl is trying to say. ‘Is she okay? She’s starting to sweat now.. is something wrong?’

“VOWELS!!! I GUESSED IT!!” That startled Irene but she started laughing internally at the stupid things these two girls are saying. All of a sudden something clicked in her head. ‘SHE’S NERVOUS!!!!’ Her body relaxes as she realizes this. ‘She really is the cutest.. look at that face hihi she’s malfunctioning. But I shouldn’t laugh - straight face game on’

“Um we don’t sell vowels here…” she says shakily trying not to chuckle. She watches and waits for the girl to say something but nothing comes out of .

“Irene eonni my friend Seulgi will just have beef bibimbap…” Joohyun hears Wendy but stopped paying attention after she heard a name. ‘Seulgi… Seulgi…’ she snaps back to reality. She responds to Wendy with a simple ‘okay’. She collects the menus and gets ready to place their orders.. “Oh eonnie could you add a little more rice for her. She LOVES rice.” With a quick affirmation, she hurriedly moves to the kitchen.

6:09pm

Joohyun’s heart is beating really fast. ‘SEULGI, SEULGI, SEULGI… Seulgi loves rice!! I MUST GIVE HER RICE!!!’ She is determined to satisfy the cute bear’s appetite. She then approaches Chanyeol to tell him the orders. Chanyeol immediately gets to cooking.

“Hey Joohyun-ah! Did you wink at her? Hahaha the poor girl wasn’t even moving.”

“Chanyeol let me plate the bibimbap okay…”

“Okay!” Chanyeol then hands Irene the vegetables and ground meat. He continues cooking the rest of the orders.

“That girl must be a new student. I’ve never seen her before…” Chanyeol continues talking while Joohyun is hyper-focused with her task. ‘Must satisfy bear, must give her the best, must stuff her with all the rice..’ she is relentless with her important mission.

“I have to say though she’s very pretty. I wonder if she’s single… OUCH!!! What was that for??” Chanyeol tries soothing his ear.

“She isn’t interested in you so BACK-OFF!” Irene says irritably but then goes back to finishing her mission.
