Spring, March, 4:00am

The phone alarm goes off filling the quiet room with its beeping sound. Joohyun immediately gets up and starts stretching while yawning. She taps her cheeks to wake herself up fully. She ties her beautiful black hair into a messy bun and heads to the kitchen where she heats up a pot of water. She then grabs a chopping board from the kitchen cabinet and starts grabbing all the tools and equipment she will need to start prepping. The Bae family owns a small restaurant in their little town. It is an Asian restaurant with mostly Korean dishes on the menu. Thefamily income comes from this business that is why the whole family must do their part to keep it running. Joohyun’s parents would leave the house early, around 3am to buy some seafood, veggies, meats and other items they will need for the restaurant. The pot has finished boiling the water, Joohyun then prepares herself a cup of tea. She lists down the items she needs to cook and prepare while sipping on her delicious tea. She looks at the clock it’s 4:12am she needs to start her prep. She starts chopping the vegetables, gets the stock simmering, and mixing some of the sauces. It’s 5:40am now, she needs to take a bath and get ready for school. She checks her to-do-list one more time before heading out of the house.

“I locked the door, I finished making the kimchi paste, hmm did I forget anything?... UWAAAHH!!!” Joohyun shrieks and almost falls on the pavement.

“Relax Hyunnie it’s just me. Sheesh we always walk to school together you know.”

“Damn you Chanyeollie! I could have died you know!! I hate you – you giant baby!”

“Hey! I’m not a giant you’re just really really short.” Chanyeol laughs whole heartedly. The two of them have been best friends since 5th grade. Chanyeol also works at the Bae’s restaurant as one of the cooks. For a long time, these two knuckle heads have been beside each other. Always helping each other out. They’re like Spongebob and Patrick.

7:00am

Joohyun and Chanyeol are already seated in the auditorium, they saved a seat for one of their friends, Suho. The two met Suho during freshman year of high school. He was that really nerdy kid that won’t shut up about Minecrafts’ in game physics. They decided to be-friend him because they couldn’t stand seeing him getting ignored and eating alone all the time.

“Sorry I’m late guys! Some girl running like a madman suddenly crossed the street out of nowhere. My mom panicked so she decided to drive super duper slow.” Suho says while sitting down.

7:05am

“I’m going to use the restroom first the principal isn’t here yet anyway.” Joohyun steps out of the auditorium feeling relieved since she can’t stand the chaos ensuing in there. She fixes her hair with a little red clip to keep her hair from falling to her face. Then she fixes her uniform making sure her blouse is all straightened out. She decides to go back in the auditorium but as she steps out into the hallway a girl running like a crazed bear zooms past her. Joohyun was so startled she fell on her . “What the hell is wrong with that girl? Doesn’t she know she can’t run in the hallway.” She walks back swiftly to her seat just in time, the principal just went up the stage.

Lunch Break

The trio enters the cafeteria with their packed lunch, looking for an unoccupied table. As they were looking around Chanyeol spots something funny.

“Hyun! Look over there that girl just friggin’ fell in love with you!” Chanyeol can’t stop giggling at the sight. Joohyun then peeks at what Chanyeol was pointing at. She was about to roll her eyes because she's tired of people always staring at her. But she was not expecting to see an adorable girl with wide open, apple on one hand and eyes ready to pop out. It was a funny and adorable thing to see.

‘She’s frozen, it’s like her brain just stopped functioning. So cute…” Joohyun thought. ‘She really is cute with those monolid eyes.
